    Hawaii> Captain Cook
    • 3 bedroom
    • 1 bathroom
    • Sleeps 5

Peaceful 5 acre farm, stunning views of ocean, sun sets, night sky. Sprawling tropical surroundings, fruit trees and working coffee farm in a neighborhood with sheep, goats, chickens. Beaches within 20 minutes. Half hour from Captain Cook’s shops, 45 minutes from Volcano National Park.

Fully stocked kitchen with dining area, 3 bedrooms, living room with couch, all with a warm clean design. Being there presents a comfy modern feel with its handcrafted Hawaiian furniture and sunset theme.

Private driveway and carport. The cottage has a front porch and small back porch with beach equipment and full ocean view, is separate from the main house on the estate, and is nestled between tropical landscaping and vibrant coffee farms.
While on your stay you can enjoy a variety of birds, including the Hawaiian red cardinal, pheasants, mating turtle doves, an orchestra of little coqui frogs, geckos and the occasional horned chameleon.

We do have a sweet lab, Reina, who comes to visit on occasion. You might spot a green gecko wandering around in the house occasionally but don't be alarmed, they're just taking care of the bugs for you and might be attracted to any food you leave around uncovered. While you may observe some wild pigs outside the fences and gates, they are not friendly, so please remember to close the gate when you exit or enter the property.

Bath and beach towels as well as replacement linens are all provided. There is a washing machine and dryer for your use in the cottage.

The 6:30 sunsets span across the entire ocean and are visible from the lanai (porch), dining area, and kitchen. Smoking permitted outside only.

Please see this cottage as a home away from home and treat it with the same aloha you would your own.

The photos you see, give you an accurate picture. This is a great place that is quiet and away from the hubbub of Kona development. It’s also a great place to launch day trips south, including volcano, national park. No nearby restaurants, so bring food for breakfasts. Good pizza spot and small grocery store nearby. Ocean view is fantastic. At night you will hear the sound of coquis, a small frog imported from Puerto Rico. Don’t be alarmed if you see a gecko or two crawling on the ceiling or living room floor. All are very harmless and fun to watch. The hostess Ina is very responsive to any need you have. We were a family of four from Marin County California traveling in late October 2023.

What an amazing place. Falling asleep to the sound of coqui frogs, fresh flowers and fruit waiting for us made this a great home-base for our adventures.

Gorgeous views, spacious and unreal vibes. We absolutely loved staying here and hope it’s available the next time we visit the big island. We would have given this 6 stars if it would let us.

This place is the total package! Cozy, beautiful setting that can't be beat! Thoughtful touches and high end amenities. Ideal home base for getting around Southern part of the island. Beaches and services are a 15 to 20 minutes highway drive, sometimes a bit winding. But for other major sites and many beaches and snorkeling (Volcanoes Park, Punalu'u, South Point, and any Southern Kona spot) the location splits the difference and nothing is too far away. And at the end of the day you are in the mountains, with an ocean view and breeze, sunsets, and the best stargazing. You are on a coffee farm, grounds are gorgeous. Nighttime coqui sounds are sweet. Hosts Ina and Gaiya were attentive and accommodating with anything we needed. Appliances, beach equipment, beach suggestions, everything to make a home away from home. If you are taking the time and money to come to Big Island, skip the resorts and commercial settings. Make it count and stay here. An unbeatable experience and great for a family. Thank you Ina and Gaiya!
