Aloha! Welcome to this oceanfront suite with private entrance conveniently located between Hilo, Volcano National Park, and black sand beaches. Just 30 minutes from Hilo international Airport, Rainbow Falls, and much more! This space was created to be an affordable way to enjoy an oceanfront experience where one can see whales (seasonal), dolphins, sea turtles, and benefit from the ever present cooling trade winds. When traveling to Hawaii, staying on the ocean greatly enhances the experience!

French doors lead to your own private oceanfront studio located on the lower level of this grand oceanfront home. Large ocean facing windows adorn the east facing wall. The beautiful warm light of the sunrises over the sea can be incredible! The large overhang from the level above along with the tradewinds provides cooling properties keeping you comfortable throughout your stay.

If you plan on seeing many of the best sites the Big Island has to offer, we feel this suite is right in the middle of it all without being in the hustle of a commercialized area. Explore black sand beaches, the Waa Waa jungle, Volcano National Park, multiple water falls, and the recent lava flows!

There is a high-end queen size memory foam bed in this unit that is sure to give you a great nights sleep after a fun day of Hawaiian adventure.

A smart TV is great for casting your own subscription service to or stream our included Netflix!

    Your Own Private Bathroom:
The unique bathroom has an indoor/outdoor feel. It provides privacy while giving you a partial outdoor ocean facing experience. It has bamboo walls, concrete floors in the shower and toilet area, and gravel floors in the hand sink and dressing area. Because its concrete and gravel, we recommend flip flops (we say "slippers" in Hawaii) or other easy on and off sandals.

The kitchenette includes a full size fridge and freezer, microwave coffee maker stocked with Kona blend coffee, and some basic dishes suitable for reheating takeout or warming basic meals. There is no kitchen sink or stove.

We think you will find this little hideaway is a fun and affordable way to have a great oceanfront experience!

We have a 5 star rating! Come let us earn your 5 star review too! I am dedicated to making sure your experience in this little unit is the best possible! I want this to be a spot you will look back at fondly and want to revisit each time you are on island.

You’ll never sleep better than in this little get away right by the breaking waves! It was so relaxing and calming! Joe and Cindy were wonderful hosts! They were so friendly and helpful! And going on Joe’s moped tour through the jungle and lava fields was an extra fun touch! I didn’t want to leave!!

When the only bad thing to say is “loud wave breaks right out the window” you have a pretty special place.

The property is neat and clean. We loved the out door bathroom/shower. Only wish the shower would have had warm water. We enjoyed the nearby park for great ocean views and beautiful crashing waves where you can see all the colors of the sea. Pahoa has a great Saturday night downtown local vibe. Live music and food. We recommend Pele’s kitchen for breakfast. And the Lava Shack for very reasonably priced adult beverages. Loved our stay. Please don’t miss the Hawaii Tropical Bioreserve & Garden near Hilo. Gorgeous views - just like Gillian’s Island!

Stay here while visiting family on the island. Wanted a few days alone and this was ideal. Great neighborhood for walking, accommodations had everything I needed, hosts were kind and attentive. And the outdoor bathroom is bliss! Highly recommend this for travelers alone who appreciate time alone in peace. Much mahalo🌺

Our stay at Oceanfront Hideaway was excellent. The suite was clean and nicely appointed. The outdoor bathroom was very unique and provided a fun experience. Everything was as described in the listing. Coffee was provided as stated, but bring your own cream and/or sugar if you want it. The ocean was directly out the window. With the rocky shore, the waves provided a lot of noise throughout the night. We actually had to close windows the first night because we weren't used to the sounds and kept waking up. The second night we stayed we slept better though. The noise can be very relaxing, but if you aren't used to ocean sounds in the night it could be a little much for you at first. The lock box wasn't obviously marked and took us a minute to find, but after finding the lock box getting in was easy as self check-in without having to worry about coordinating a specific time with the hosts. The hosts were very responsive. Overall, this was an excellent place for us to stay and have a unique experience while exploring Hilo and the area to the south of Hilo.
