Take a step back in time, vintage Hawaii with the ocean at your lanai. How time on the Big Island is supposed to be enjoyed. A charming little beach house that was recently remodeled. The sound of the waves and breezes in the palm trees are mystical. They wake you with music of Hawaii's birds or they lull you to sleep when the tide eases in at night. Sunsets are year around, and Hale Kai sunsets are mother nature's version of fireworks. Sitting out on the oceanfront deck you can watch the turtles arrive to bask in sun before they rest. There is usually at least one or two lazy turtles enjoying the day on the beach. The short stone stairway leads directly to the beach, where it is a very short walk to the turtle sleeping area. The property has a wonderful grassy area around it with mature trees to sit under or place a chair to watch the afternoon go by.

We do not do instant booking because we want 24 hours between guests to allow for proper cleaning and sanitization. Thank you and do not hesitate to reach out with any questions....

Great place but one minor complaint; there are some very heavy "logs" leaning on the inside of the wall that obstruct the view a bit. It looks like someone was doing beach maintenance but they don't belong in the back yard.

We rented this home for the view only, it is incredible. We have been to the area many times in hotels and have loved it. We spent 10 days in the home and truthfully we didn’t feel much of a need to leave it. Great sunsets. Saw whales everyday, turtles every evening. Home is very comfortable and a great place to just chill. We highly recommend this home if you just want to relax and get away.

The owner, who is accessible and responsive, provides a lovingly cared for accommodation extremely well-stocked with superb views. Compared to the price of other ocean-front rentals, a good value. Our highest recommendation.

We loved this peaceful spot. Location, location, location. We spent all our time on the stone deck overlooking the shore, watching whales, turtles and local fishermen with nets or poles. We hope to return. We had heard there would be bugs in Puako. No bugs here at all!

This property is close to the large resorts but on it’s own dead end street on the ocean with great sunsets. Greg was a very responsive host.

We loved our stay at this charming beach front cottage. Everything was lovely and comfortable. Greg was an excellent host. Very responsive. I loved how you could look out from the kitchen one way and see the beautiful expansive ocean and look the other way to a front yard full of flowers, mountains in the distance, and occasional neighbors walking on the road. The kitchen was very well stocked. You are right on the beach and we saw turtles day and night (from a distance of course)! I also loved that the host offered use of beach chairs, snorkel gear, boogie boards and two bicycles! The town of Pauko was tiny and beautiful with few tourists. We absolutely loved our stay!
