Oceanfront on Waimea Plantation Cottages Resort, this lovely cottage was built in 1915 and dubbed the Kekaha Sugar House. French doors look out onto the private lanai and frame the beautiful ocean view about 50 yards in front of the home. Lovingly refreshed to preserve the historic, rustic quality of this heritage home. This cozy cottage is just enough room for two people.
There is a fully equipped kitchen including microwave, oven, fridge, dishes, pots and pans, glassware, utensils and silverware. Enjoy the combination clawfoot bathtub/shower, dining and sitting areas. Lots of room on the lanai for lounging or dining. Fall asleep listening to the sound of the waves!
Waimea Plantation Cottages features just 59 private plantation homes on 43 acres. Cottages are set in enclaves with large green lawn areas that roll down to the beach separate the enclaves. Tropical plantings between cottages provide privacy.
Guests of Cottage 49 enjoy all the benefits of the resort including oceanfront pool, recent release DVDs, Wi-Fi, free parking at your cottage, towel/linen replacement on request, beach chairs and umbrellas upon request at the front desk, complimentary use of guest laundry, newspapers at the front desk and business kiosk for printing boarding passes. You'll love the 2-mile long black-sand, walking beach with spectacular sunsets and amazing stargazing. There is an on-property casual dining restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining.
Note on beaches: the Waimea River enters the ocean about a mile east of the property bringing silt from the canyon into the ocean. The currents pull the silt along the ocean in front of the beach. There are two swimmable beaches with lifeguard stations nearby. Kekaha Beach, is a 5-minute drive to the West. It is the longest white sand beach in Hawaii. It is wide and flat. To the east near Hanapepe Town is Salt Pond Beach. There is a lovely protected swimming area, picnic tables and restrooms.

Such a great stay. So good I am afraid to give a positive review and not be able to book next time. Only complaint is the curtain around tub is a bit small.

We enjoyed our stay in this cottage. It was clean and everyone was very nice. The beach are steps away and very secluded, paradise!

Our stay at the Waimea Plantation Cottages was one of the very most relaxing and beautiful vacations ever! Highlights were the ocean view, the sunsets, the strategically placed Adirondack chairs to get even closer to the most perfect view, and the proximity to Wiamea canyon.

The splendor and simplicity of the cabin and its surrounding property were amazing. Did not disappoint! The beaches, sunsets, sunrises, the collective services all were amazing and well delivered.

Great place to spend a week celebrating an anniversary. While there are other cottages nearby, this one had an unobstructed view of the ocean. The other guests, the facility was full, didn’t seem to get in anyone’s way. Peaceful. Eating meals on the porch. Outdoor gas grills with a great view. Quiet part of the island. Waimea is at the far end of the road. Would definitely come back.

This property exceeded all of our expectations! It is a fantastic location on Kauai—away from touristy spots. The unit has gorgeous views and was just steps from a perfect, dreamy beach. We appreciated the thoughtful amenities included, such as beach chairs, umbrella, beach towels and a small cooler. We truly hope to come back and stay in this perfect slice of paradise.

Mu husband and I were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and it was the perfect location! Sunset view every night from our cottage and a quick walk to the beach for long walks!

We loved this property and would stay here again! Very authentically Hawaiian. It is a quiet area but easy access to the south shore.
