Kona Mauna Kai is a working farm on the slopes of Mauna Loa on the Big Island of Hawaii. We grow avocado, macadamia nuts, Kona coffee, oranges, lemons, limes, tangerines, bananas, guava, loquat, and many more, there’s always fresh produce in season. Stroll through the orchards and enjoy the tranquility. Queen bed with peak-a-boo view of ocean, mini fridge, hot plate, microwave, and coffee maker in room. Honomalino Beach is only 6 miles. Close by is Pebble Beach, Hookena Beach Park, and the old fishing village of Miloli'i. Get away from it all on the farm.
Our location is great to explore the south end of the island. It is also a great place to stop and rest in between Kona and Hilo. Don't spend the whole day in the car when going to see the volcano or green sand beach. Spend the day exploring and come back to a relaxing evening on a Hawaiian Farm....

We would stay here again for its beautiful and peaceful location, the kind hosts and their wonderful pastoral environment. The accomodations were much appreciated after our long flight from Florida. The bed was heavenly, outstandingly comfortable. I especially appreciated use of the washer and dryer, with detergent and dryer sheets provided. We brought food from Kona and we cooked wonderful bacon and egg breakfasts on the hotplate provided, we had everything we needed to make simple meals, to keep our food cold, and to reheat food. There were plenty of towels and the bathroom was fine. We love their dog, Hoppa. He greeted us with his presence at the gate, but he never barked at us, he just wanted us to play with him. He is a perfect dog. And the cats are so sweet. The ducks and rabbits added charm as well, and the view of the ocean from the property is excellent. There are a lot of places to see relatively close by. If you want to have a truly cultural experience and not a resort experience, if you want to feel a part of the island life rather than just be a spectator, then this is the place for you. The fact that we are still in Hawaii on the other side of the island at our next stop, but still reminiscing over this place, says it all.

Words can’t describe how amazing our stay on this peaceful farm was! This was our first visit to Hawaii, and we fell in love with the natural beauty of the island. Falling asleep to the sounds of rainforest birds and frogs and gentle rain, waking up to a stunning sunrise was wonderful. The property was super clean and comfortable, with everything you need! The owners thought of all the right amenities. The grounds are lovely to walk around, the dog and cat are sweet, and Heather was a joy to talk to. We felt so welcome! Great location in South Kona, away from the tourist hub and in the heart of what we felt was true Big Island. Easy drive to VNP and various coastal sites. We can’t wait to come back!

High above the warm waters off the Big Island is a piece of heaven here on earth. I stayed in the studio cottage, which was just the right size for me. Sleeping in the bed made me feel like I was sleeping in a cloud filled with warm sunshine. You will find everything you need, and if you don’t, the kind and generous owners will help you. The views are fantastic. Swimming and historical sites are within 30 minutes. Kona is an hour away, so take that into consideration before committing to this special place; it is a refuge from the busy tourist life. I hope to have another chance to stay here soon.

We had a wonderful time at this vrbo. It was peaceful, and our host was really friendly with different recommendations on things to do on the south side of the island. It was also not hard to find, and there were clear instructions. We really enjoyed our relaxing time here!

This VRBO is located in the tranquil countryside south of Kona. My partner and I spent nine days here, from the end of May to early June. Heather and Adam were very welcoming and provided us with freshly grown papaya, avocados, star apples, and macadamia nuts from their farm. The property itself is situated at a high altitude, offering stunning vistas of the ocean and the picturesque countryside. The room we stayed in was very clean and well-maintained. Would highly recommend!

This place was perfect for my girlfriend and me. It was very cute and had everything we needed even though it was a studio. This place has the most beautiful sunsets as well as a very friendly morning breeze. Their animals here are so nice as well and had a bunch of fun staying here! Thanks so much Heather!
