Mauna Kea Resort announces a $180-million renovation with no rollout plans as of yet, other than the April - November 2024 closure of the Mauna Kea golf course under the direction of Robert Trent Jones Jr. with visionary work of Robert Trent Jones Sr. and both sons Reese and Bobby Jr. Other plans include 252 hotel rooms, new spa, and dining venues. Resort pool will close for a short time as they relocated the spa. The resort tells us the renovation will be done in stages and won’t really affect amenities too much.

This beautiful Villa is located on one of the most ideal lots in Wai'Ula'Ula. It features fabulous sunset views and expansive views of the Pacific Ocean, Kohala Mountains, and the Island of Maui; this Villa has a private saltwater pool and spa. The West facing view allows for spectacular sun on the uncovered portion of the lanai, while the covered lanai provides plenty of shade.

The furniture is top of the line with the living room featuring a Kreiss Corniche sectional. Both master suites have Serta Perfect Day California Kings, and the third bedroom is furnished with 2 Serta Perfect Sleeper Queens.

The expansive 650 sf lanai is furnished with the finest grade A teak furniture, this provides an even larger and more comfortable area for morning coffee, afternoon sunbathing, dining and enjoying the evening sunset.

If technology is a priority for you and your family, this is the villa for you. All three bedrooms have 50 inch flat screen TV's. The living room is equipped with a 70 inch 4K flat screen and Sonos Sound Bar. All TV's use the 4K Apple TV platform. Both master suites, the great-room and lanai are equipped with a Sonos Sound System that is controlled with your smartphone. The wireless internet is powered by Spectrum, with speeds up to 300 mbps.

Secure, gated, and nestled on the sprawling 48-acre resort of Wai’ula’ula in the exclusive Mauna Kea Beach Resort, guests have access to two world class resorts; The Mauna Kea Resort, and The Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel.

The spectacular floor plan includes 3 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, all on one level. The sliding glass patio doors and screens disappear into the walls, bringing the lanai, living room, and kitchen together into a combined 3005 SF of indoor & covered outdoor living space; in addition, 650 SF of uncovered, sunny lanai surround the pool & spa area. The wraparound covered portion of the lanai features a built-in Wolf gas BBQ grill, ...

This beautiful home is equipped with everything you need. Every kitchen item you could need is there (and high quality too). (A keurig would be a nice addition - the current single serve coffee maker doesn't fit standard pods.). The pool and hot tub are wonderful and great spots to watch the sunset. The outdoor bbq area is fabulous. Donna is fantastic, super responsive and helpful. Notes about the development where this property is located: Obtaining privileges at the resorts is recommended. There is a nice pool at the close amenity center but the resort access is worth it just to have easy access to Mauna Key and Hapuna beaches. (We saw cars getting turned away often from the public access points because they were full.) The Seaside Tennis Club at the Mauna Key is spectacular. We had a few tee times at the renowned golf course but unfortunately they were cancelled due to the wind. Both resorts are an easy five minute drive away, so a rental car is necessary. Otherwise a 40 minute walk and pedestrians are discouraged. It can be windy. During our 8 day stay no beach umbrellas were allowed. Just something to consider, we're told this is typical for that side of the Big Island. On the flip side, little rain. Lots of options for groceries, all 20+ minutes away. Take half a day and go to the Costco in Kona if you can. Overall a wonderful time and we can't say enough about Donna!

The minute we walked into this home we were relaxed. The views are gorgeous, the amenities plentiful and we could not have asked for a more perfect set up. We plan to rebook.

Our stay in late summer 2023 was first-class. The home is beautifully appointed with original art and comfortable furniture. We were greeted with an adorable welcome gift from Donna, the fantastic host. Here’s what I think will be useful to future guests: The central air conditioning worked really well, but the mornings and evenings were cool enough to enjoy fresh air through the enormous sliding screen 'wall' that borders the lanai. The kitchen had everything we needed in terms of pans and tools, and the appliances are all best in class. The amazing shower stall that exits to the private outdoor courtyard feels straight out of Architectural Digest. Practically every light switch has a dimmer, so you can really set the mood. And of course, this home has a wonderful pool and spa. The spa is surprisingly private given the expansive views, and it was unforgettable being in the water under the stars. Other highlights were watching the sun set over the horizon and the backyard’s gorgeous plants. The community was very quiet. There aren’t really any cons, though be aware that the home is in a quiet part of the island. It’s about 40 minutes of highway driving away from Kailua-Kona, the nearest town with the most stuff to do on the island's west side. Fortunately, smaller but cute Waimea is only about 20 minutes away, and has numerous restaurants, grocery stores, etc. Highly recommended!

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Waiulaula Villa. The house was just as advertised - spacious, well-furnished, great outdoor spaces and located in a peaceful community. We especially enjoyed the pool, spa and outdoor kitchen. The striking sunsets each evening added to the ambience!

We had a lovely 8 day stay at this villa and thoroughly enjoyed the pool, view and accommodations. It’s also great to be able to use the two hotels and their beaches just down the hill. Would definitely stay here again! Donna was an excellent host as well!
