ALOHA,
We at Hawaiian Journeys offer unique and affordable vacation experiences, by using alternative structures known as Yurts.
Our Yurt, located on the big island of Hawaii, allows for more space and a vacation experience you'll want to share with others. The Yurt is fully furnished with queen bed, refrigerator, microwaves and more. It's like camping with all the comforts of home.
Welcome to Hawaiianjourneys, we invite you to join our Ohana for a vacation designed to be one you will remember for many years to come. Our accommodations are spacious, comfortable, unique and private. Invented over a 1000 years ago, a yurt is a comfortable, cozy building with great functionality.
We have modernized it, to include one bedroom, modern amenities and gorgeous views among cool and relaxing breezes. We are an eco friendly Inn. We recycle our gray water for plants and pineapples. Because of our location you will see more of Hawaii then if you stayed in Kona and you will sleep better. After all there is MORE to Hawaii then beaches and bars... and isn't a vacation supposed to be relaxing. Stay with us once, and I guarantee you will be back again. We have other one bedroom and studio yurts available, please contact us for rates and details.
Aloha from Lisa and Antares of Hawaiian Journeys...

NOT SAFE FOR YOUNG WOMEN. NOT SAFE FOR TRAVELERS UNFAMILIAR WITH THE ISLAND. The hosts did not provide checkin instructions and asked us to let them know what time we were arriving so they could be there. We arrived at the agreed time and waited over an hour. We tried opening any yurt that didn’t have a car or shoes in front. Nothing was open, no one was around. We called the number provided and it was the wrong number! We woke up someone in Oregon and she said it happens all the time. We ended up contacting VRBO and leaving. Luckily I used to live on island and knew of other places to go to in the area. The hosts didn’t get back to us for 3 hours! By then we were asleep in a wonderful hotel down the road, called the Hawaiian Island Resort. When we contacted vrbo in the morning they put the host Lisa on the line and we listened to her go on an angry rant about us inconveniencing her. It was a wild experience and we did not feel safe going back to the property for our 2nd booked night. I can’t say this enough: pass this one up. The hosts are rude, and do not follow through. They provided wrong contact information and out dated driving directions. They knew 2 young women were traveling alone at night and blamed us for their own mishandling of the situation. We found the property on our own, we showed up on time, we waited over an hour at night, we communicated kindly and appropriately, then we left when we received no response. Only to be accosted on the phone with a vrbo rep listening. Do not book this.

The yurt was absolutely everything we were looking for! Halfway between Kailua-Kona and Hawai’i Volcanoes NP, quaint and clean. Loved watching the stars and waking up to the birds in the morning. Host was very communicative and helped us out when we got lost. Lovely stay!

What a wonderful and unique place to stay! Despite very high winds, our yurt was very comfortable. Waking up to the sounds of nature was very peaceful.

This yurt is approximately an hour drive from any facilities. The property is novel, clean, tidy and well equipped except for the toilet. As well as the isolated location, the major drawback of the facility is a complex sanitary system which involves separate toilets for liquid and semi-solid human waste. The semi-solid human waste must be incinerated by the toilet after each use. The instructions are complex and the resulting incineration of the waste fills the yurt with smoke and bad odor. Our stay was marred by a malfunction with the incinerator toilet for which we were financially penalized by the property owner. Also, the internet connection was very poor.
