Moloa'a Bay was the site location for the TV pilot of "Gilligan's Island". Here is where the USS Minnow and its crew originally shipwrecked. The location for this property is perfect - nice beach just steps away, but the owner is relying on the location and neglecting the house itself. The house is in need of some major TLC. For the price, one would not expect knobs falling off cupboards, a jet engine AC above the great room, or an inoperable stove/oven. There were so many things wrong with this house, we developed a punch list to provide to the agent and owner. The oven/stove has been inoperable since July and they keep stating they are waiting on a part or qualified people to install it. We had to do all our cooking on provided propane burners. When one is paying a premium for luxury accomodations, one expects these things to work. We had plumbers and electricians out to the house to put temporary fixes on things (they never returned to fix them properly). We were there for 2 weeks and there was ample time to address these issues. The house is really in need of a refresh.

This how was our little piece of heaven for the last week. The beach is steps away and we had ideal weather so it was perfect for all of us to snorkel. It’s the type of home and beach you never want to leave. The house had incredible views and it was very private. Our kids played in the open floor plan and on the outdoor patio. It was easy to keep track of everyone. The kitchen was great for a large family cooking all together. We are already trying to plan when we could come back.

The house is in an amazing location on a quieter bay. There were usually more local fisherman than beach goers. It looked to be a good spot for catching Scad as there would be a dozen or more fisherman clustered pulling them in throughout the day. The house is well equipped and has an amazing bay view. The wrap around lanai and sand room were great. The yard was spacious, well maintained, and great for the keikis. The neighborhood was very quiet and peaceful. We received a heads up ahead of time that the oven was out and a repair person would be coming during our stay. They provided butane burners and plenty of butane refills so It wasn’t a problem. Property management communicated well for the repair visit. We did have a rodent get into our food in the pantry so the broken oven became the food storage. We found later the rodent was a rat which woke us up in the night as it clumsily thumped around in the closest. We chased it to its hidey hole and notified management who said it would be taken care of. Overall a wonderful place and we’ll be retuning hopefully sooner than later.

I almost hate to write about how wonderful this place is. I don’t want many people to know! It is truly a magical property and location. We loved every minute of our stay.
