Kapalua Bay, Maui
Kapalua Bay on Maui's northwestern shore is a crescent-shaped white-sand beach framed by rocky outcrops. Swimming can be good here because a coral reef and long rocky points on both sides of the bay help protect the beach from strong currents. When waves and wind are low, the inshore water is usually clear, so snorkeling and scuba diving conditions can be good, especially at the north end of the beach. There's a little less sand there, which often helps visibility. The bay is backed by coconut palms and resort villas.

Location, Parking and Directions
Kapalua Bay is located in west Maui in the Kapalua resort area, north of Napili and Kaanapali. Public beach access is available near the lower end of Kapalua Place, with a small public parking lot, stairs and a path down to the beach. The lot is limited, so arrive earlier or plan for a walk from legal nearby parking if the closest spaces are full.
