Wailua Falls in southeastern Kauai is an 80-foot (24.4 m) waterfall. If it looks familiar, it is because it was part of the opening scenes of the popular TV series Fantasy Island.

The best time to visit Wailua Falls is in the morning when the sun is shining on the waterfall. No need to bring your hiking shoes and equipment because you can see Wailua Falls from the road.

There is a very steep and slippery hiking trail that leads to the pool below. However, it is not advised to walk down the trail due to dangerous conditions.

Wailua Falls is located at the end of Maalo Road near Lihue on Kauai's east side. Drive carefully on the narrow road and use the small designated parking area near the lookout. Do not block traffic or attempt to access the closed, unsafe route to the base.
