Lawa'i is a quiet south Kauai community known for local shops, Koloa Road scenery, Hawaiian Trading Post and convenient access to Koloa and Poipu.

Lawa'i is a small town about 12 miles (19 km) west of Lihue. There are a few shops and eateries located here, as well as the Lawai Market grocery store. At the intersection of Koloa Road and Kaumuali'i Highway you will also find Hawaiian Trading Post – a gift shop with a variety of hand-crafted items, T-shirts and a large selection of souvenirs.

Continue driving down on Koloa Road and you can get a good overview of the town and the beautiful green surroundings. Lawa'i is not a major tourist destination and there aren't many accommodation options here, except for a bed & breakfast and an inn.

Location, Parking and Directions

Lawa'i is located on Kauai's south side, west of Lihue and inland from Koloa and Poipu. From Lihue, drive west on Kaumualii Highway toward Lawa'i. From Koloa or Poipu, follow the inland road toward Lawa'i and the highway junction.
