Princeville at a Glance

Princeville is a master-planned resort community 122 miles away from Honolulu, Oahu. Princeville is an incredible mixture of rocky ledges, blue-green beaches, cascading waterfalls, and state-of-the-art architecture. It is located at the northern shore of Kauai County a few minutes away from the world-famous Napali and Waimea Canyon. A sugar plantation owned by Robert Crichton Wyllie in the mid-1800s, Princeville was named by the owner to honor 2-year old Prince Albert Kamehameha’s visit and his parents in 1860. In 1895, however, Princeville was purchased and converted into a cattle ranch by a missionary son Albert Wilcox. Today, Princeville proudly offers real estate, two world-class championship golf courses, a spa, and a hotel. Meanwhile, the family-run ranch offers horse rides to guests and residents.

Situated above a lush plateau overlooking the picturesque Hanalei Bay, Princeville stretches over 2.1 square miles of land and 0.3 square miles of water, the town had 1, 698 inhabitants and a population density of 806.7 people per square mile according to a 2000 survey. Its racial make-up is 81.27% white, 4.59% Asian, 3.36% Pacific Islander, 4% Latino, 3.36% Pacific Islander, 0.29% African-American, 0.53% Native American, and 8.95% from a mix of two or more races.

In 2000, Princeville had a median family income of $67, 266, a median household income of $63, 833, and a per capita income of $37, 901. Only 8.1% lived below the poverty line. Princeville also has the highest number of college graduates among the towns in Hawaii.

Princeville’s zip code is 96722.
