There is only one official
camping site on Lanai, the Hulopoe Beach Park. The cost is $5 a
night. The shaded
picnic areas are perfect for leisurely meals al fresco,
offering a nice view of the beach.
Restrooms and showers are available as well.
The beach park is also known as one of the
most scenic spots on Lanai. It lies on the south coast
of the island, facing clear blue waters and sporting pristine
golden sand on its beach. The beach is also used by local residents and hotel guests from the nearby Four Seasons Resort at Manele Bay.
There are currently six campsites in Hulopoe, each one has room for around six people. The camping permit can be obtained from Castle & Cooke by
calling their Lanai office at (808) 565-2970. Registration
costs $5 upfront, and the lodging itself costs $5 per person
per night. You can stay a maximum of four days and three
nights. To extend
or renew, send a request to the office or call them at the
same number.
The park is roughly a 7-mile (11 km) drive from Lanai City. Before settling down, make sure you have all the supplies you need. There is no store or supermarket at the beach park. The only supermarket on the island is in Lanai City. You'll have two transportation options to get to Lanai City: rent a car or call
a taxi. |
