Wonderful cottage, perfect beach, and cozy community. The cottage is perfect for 4, quiet and clean, and appointed with nearly everything you could want or need for a great vacation. Ideally located steps from a perfect beach and within a few blocks walking distance to shops and restaurants. Smoky and Kim were wonderful and generous hosts. Such a magical place.

My family had the most amazing time at this cottage. The owners were very communicative and responsive to anything we needed, which wasn’t much. The kitchen was well stocked. The house was very clean. It was lovely to be steps from the beach and a few blocks from everything in town. Not only do we enjoy our days on the beach, but also the sunset walks, and also the nighttime sky. We’ve usually stayed in condos around the Princeville area, but staying on the beach on Hannalei Bay was a dream come true! Thanks Kim and Smoky, for sharing you’re beautiful property with us!
Smoky and Kim were fantastic hosts; attentive, thoughtful, helpful and welcoming while affording us privacy. The house is extremely well maintained and appointed. My wife is extremely particular about cleanliness and this more than passed her test. We would gladly return.
This trip far exceeded our expectations. We knew it would be special from all the positive reviews but from the moment we walked in we felt happy and we were home. Even before that from the booking to planning process Smoky was awesome! When we got there Kim welcomed us and made sure we had what we needed. The location is incredible and just a day home and I can’t stop thinking about the quiet nights and the sounds of the waves and occasional rain. My son when we left said this isn’t gooodbye cause I know we will be back. Don’t hesitate to book this amazing spot - you will not regret it!
Beautiful property located on beachfront lot about 150 feet from the beach. Nicely appointed with all necessary amenities. Owners were available throughout stay to insure we were comfortable. All in all a good vacation.

If you want indulgent luxury, stay at 1 Hotel on Hanalei Bay, but you will get no taste of local life. Indeed, you could have a similar experience on the mainland. If you want very well-appointed, comfortable accommodations in a nice neighborhood, right on the beach, this is the place.
We were return guests and our experience was even better the second time around. Our hosts strike the perfect balance between warm friendliness (you are a guest on their estate) and respect for privacy.
Do yourself a favor and stay for at least a full week. You will be glad you did.
We've traveled extensively during our lives, and stayed in a wide range of accommodations from spartan to flagrantly ostentatious. That being said, I can say that for us, this is quite probably the most beautiful location, and one of the most comfortable properties we've ever had the privilege of inhabiting. Hanalei village and bay are far more beautiful and welcoming than any photo could convey; it is simply an idyllic world unto itself... a lifestyle and pace we should all be so fortunate to experience. The beachfront property surpassed our expectations from the moment we arrived; clean, comfortable, spacious... Moments through the front door, my wife paused, "This feels like home..." She spoke for us all. A one minute walk to the beach, a 5 minute walk to the heart of the village, postcard worthy weather daily, and some of the most reviered, unsullied landscapes left on our overpopulated world. Kim and Smoky Bayless have opened up a gateway to a place that truly is like no other...We chatted with Kim a number of times; she was easygoing, effortlessly engaging, and full of helpful tips and suggestions; the standard bearer of "ideal host." We will most definitely return. If you're traveling to Hawaii, skip the touristy kitsch; THIS is the place that will calm your heart and rejuvenate your weary soul...
We have stayed in Kauai many times before, but always in a condo or resort. I cannot stress enough how much better this was, walking distance to both downtown and 150 feet to the beach. Cannot wait to come back!

Smoky and Kim's cottage is a gem in Hanalei Bay! The location is excellent. It is close to the beach and a short walk to town. The cottage was very clean and included amenities that made our stay comfortable. My kids loved the outdoor shower! It was a perfect location for my family to stay during our Kauai vacation.
This was our first trip to Kauai, and for us a preferable alternative to staying in a hotel in Princeville. Plus we had friends staying just down the street. The rental cottage is part of a family compound, located behind a volcanic rock masonry wall, a coded entry gate, all with great mountain views, and steps to the Hanalei beach on a path adjacent the main house (which is on the beach). The cottage has a washer & dryer in the attached garage, a well equipped kitchen, large fridge, screened in lanai, an outdoor shower, and is about a four minute walk to town where there are several great spots to eat, plus a grocery store. We pretty much just parked our rental car, and just waked everywhere. The thought and detail of the owner in the selection of finishes, and the utility of the floor plan part of a recent remodel is very evident. Everything is well maintained, and the grounds and setting are beautiful.

We're return visitors to Smoky & Kim's cottage, and we hope to be regulars. This is the best location on Hanalei Bay - direct access to the beach, 3 blocks to town, near the pavilion but cut off from noise or traffic distractions. The cottage is lovely, well stocked, and a comfortable screened patio for reading, relaxing, and meals. Full size washer & dryer, beautiful outdoor shower that we used exclusively, all the accessories you could want. Smoky & Kim are committed to making their guests feel pampered and spoiled. This truly is paradise.

Our family really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It's in a great location just down the street from the town of Hanalei and right next to the Hanalei Bay beach. The cottage was very clean and full of features to make our stay very comfortable. The outside shower was a big hit too! We hope to stay again in the future.

Perhaps it is much like returning to one’s elementary school days and finding your long lost treasured keepsake safely tucked away in the lost and found box under the Principal’s office counter. This place is pure comfort, both in the beauty of the grounds and the livability of the cottage. Great location. Great hosts. Great found treasure.
