    • 1 bedroom
    • 1 bathroom
    • Sleeps 4

The Old Style is a stand alone beach house just steps from the sand as seen above (Standard occupancy is 2*). There is lots of light, great views & a very restful feeling. Single wall redwood was the preferred building style back in the day. It is beautifully painted to accentuate the style of the time.

The floor plan is open to enjoy the living dining & kitchen areas while taking in the views. There is a full kitchen for cooking up island fish & fare and other tropical treats. The bedroom is cool and comfortable with a king bed. In the living room are two pune'e or day beds that could accommodate children in addition. It is called the Old Style since it was once the old vicarage house of the Wai'oli Mission.

The lanai is a fabulous place to relax at the end of a hard day lounging around on the beach or discovering more of Kauai. You are about 4 blocks to Hanalei town with its cool shops and restaurants. Nice walk home after dinner.

There is a washhouse on the property with 2 sets of coin-op washers & dryers for your laundry needs and a hot & cold outside shower for after the beach. Folks love this house & we have many returning guests.

*Listed rate is for the Standard Occupancy of 2, but home can accommodate up to 4. Extra guest fee beyond two is $20+tax /per night / per person. Only 2 extra guests are allowed and this fee is collected after booking.

Please be aware that when you book this house or any accommodations by the ocean in Hawaii, not on a bluff, you are booking in a tsunami evacuation zone. Evacuation instructions will be in the house and notice of the tsunami evacuation zone will be part of your contract.

Also, please know that we cannot accommodate charging of electric vehicles at this property at this time....

We had a great stay here. The bungalow is just a quick walk across the grass to the beach- amazing location! The internet was not working for us, but we were able to get help to get it working the next day.

This property was perfect for my wife and I to finish our 10 day honeymoon to Hawaii. We got to relax in this beautiful home only steps from the beach. And the mountainous backdrop was stunning. Perfect distance from town, could drive, walk, or bike. We even jogged into town early one morning for breakfast. The beach was beautiful and the breeze kept the house nice and cool. Would definitely stay here again and recommend for anyone looking for an awesome trip.

My wife and I celebrated our 1st anniversary in Hanalei and in Old Style. From the house to location to beauty we couldn’t have asked for more. Our communication with property owners, check in, and amazing reception with Prosecco and delicious star fruit were all superb. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back. Just a short beach walk to town and a bit further to the pier. The view from the main room to the ocean each day made us love it even more. Thanks you!

Tiny house on one of Hawaii best beaches. Literally walk out the back to a huge grassy yard that ends on the beach. The house is very modest which was fine but all the appliances are pretty cheap, (not what you would expect when pay so much per night) but towels, lawn furniture, toys for the beach, all included. Bring coins for the laundry.

This is probably our 35th stay at the cottages on Hanalei Bay, so many excellent memories. A truly beautiful, relaxing place to be. Love everything about it.

Living the simple life for 8 days right on Hanalei Bay was a beautiful experience. The house is a cute, comfy escape and we hated to leave. Walking the beach and watching the surfers was one of the highlights of our trip. Not many people on the beach until the weekend, which was great, and even then, it was fun. Walked into town to do a little shopping, and we ate at a Thai food truck that had some of the best food we have ever eaten. At this time of year (March) most of the activities take place on the other side of the island. At first we thought this could be an inconvenience, but then we realized this also meant most of the people were on that side too, so the drive was worth it. We have decided this could become a yearly retreat.

The property is unique in it's location next to the toniest beach on Kauai. It's easy to spend the day walking the beach to watch the surfing and to visit the town for the small shops and restaurants. The cottage is vintage, but adequate. The kitchen is well equipped. The hot water was sufficient for me, but could run out for a larger group (especially teenagers). The internet connection was reliable; the TV package was mostly high school sports (national networks only on weekends); the electricity went out once for four hours at night. The only problem was the occasional heavy rains, which are becoming more frequent. Those somewhat limit the outdoor activities, and could cutoff access to Hanalei. The road out was almost cut off the day before I left and was totally cut off the day after I left. Overall it is a great place, but it's not for everyone.

We love this cottage near the beach, we've stayed here twice and plan on returning. If you are looking for a place to chill in paradise, this is it!

Our stay at “Old Style” in Hanalei exceeded our expectations. We are a family with two very young kids. The beach was really just across a back lawn, super close. We would often go for walks on the beach and wade across a river that flower into the ocean before breakfast. A huge plus for us was the space on the grass that the kids had to roam. Access to groceries was super easy, probably less than a 5 minute drive to the main grocery store. I can’t identify any negatives, and I want to return. Beyond the property, I loved seeing the dramatic green mountains in view when in the water at the beach in Hanalei.
