Property Description

The Old Style is a stand alone beach house just steps from the sand as seen above (Standard occupancy is 2*). There is lots of light, great views & a very restful feeling. Single wall redwood was the preferred building style back in the day. It is beautifully painted to accentuate the style of the time.

The floor plan is open to enjoy the living dining & kitchen areas while taking in the views. There is a full kitchen for cooking up island fish & fare and other tropical treats. The bedroom is cool and comfortable with a king bed. In the living room are two pune'e or day beds that could accommodate children in addition. It is called the Old Style since it was once the old vicarage house of the Wai'oli Mission.

The lanai is a fabulous place to relax at the end of a hard day lounging around on the beach or discovering more of Kauai. You are about 4 blocks to Hanalei town with its cool shops and restaurants. Nice walk home after dinner.

There is a washer & dryer set in a newly renovated laundry hut just steps away for your laundry needs and a hot & cold outside shower for after the beach. Folks love this house & we have many returning guests.

*Listed rate is for the Standard Occupancy of 2, but home can accommodate up to 4. Extra guest fee beyond two is $20+tax /per night / per person. Only 2 extra guests are allowed and this fee is collected after booking.

The State of Hawaii requires a rental agreement. The rental agreement has different cancellation policies than VRBO.

Please be aware that when you book this house or any accommodations by the ocean in Hawaii, not on a bluff, you are booking in a tsunami evacuation zone. Evacuation instructions will be in the house and notice of the tsunami evacuation zone will be part of your contract. Also, please know that we cannot accommodate charging of electric vehicles at this property at this time.

We had a wonderful time at this cute beach cottage! It’s set back from the water so it’s quieter than being right on the beach while still providing great views and an easy walk to the water. We were pleasantly surprised at the kitchen which was remarkably well stocked with cooking supplies so that we could eat in most nights. It’s a quick drive or short walk to Hanalei town and the weekly Farmer’s Market is right down the street so you can get away with not having to drive if you don’t want to. We would definitely stay here again next time we visit if it’s just the two of us!

I’m a bit hesitant to tell you all how great our stay was in fear it won’t be available next time! Our little Hanelei paradise was perfect! Right on the beach at the end of town. Close enough to walk everywhere, far enough away to be alone. There is no A/C, so be aware of your season, but in Sept/Oct, it is perfect! Can’t say enough good things. Aloha

My husband and I stayed at Old Style twice in one year. Family weddings in the area both times. We love the place. Our access to Hanalei and the beach kept us just happy to stay around the area. We did not feel the need to drive somewhere every day. And the house is very pleasant for two people. Every room very spacious.

This was our second stay at “Old Style” and it won’t be our last. It’s a little piece of paradise and the perfect place to rest and reset your body, soul and mind. The views are spectacular, and others must think so as well, since we watched 2 beach weddings from our front window. Don’t let that fool you, the beach is not crowded at all, and just a mile walk down the beach to the Hanalei Pier. The home is modest but cozy and quiet (except for the roosters, but you get used to that). I can’t even imagine staying anywhere else when visiting Kauai.
