E Komo Mai. Welcome to the Vintage Beach Cottage! B.M. says, "The vintage Beach Cottage is our favorite place to stay on the Big Island. "A.M. says, "Private and quiet." J.S. says, "when I first walked into the cottage, I felt like I'd just entered my dream vacation." Indeed, we offer a unique one-of-a-kind vacation destination for travelers to Puako. Our well maintained 7000 sq ft. turn key property is fenced for privacy. Our single story detached home, garage and beautifully landscaped grounds await you! Guests will experience an immaculate, well-maintained, and well-stocked one-bedroom cottage located just across the road from one of the best fingerling reefs in Hawaii. Explore inviting near-shore tide pools for ocean treasures. Enjoy a swim in the tropical waters, a walk along the shoreline, sea shelling and watching dolphins, turtles, manta rays, whales, occasional monk seals, and green flash sunsets.

The open floor plan of the interior includes a well-equipped gourmet kitchen, dinning room, living room, laundry/service area, and bathroom. A comfortable king-size bed awaits you in the bedroom, with custom bed dressings and French doors that offer a view of the grounds and ocean beyond. Ocean breezes and the soft scent of stephanotis flow through the French doors where you will drift to a restful sleep under the ceiling fan. Summer in sub-tropical Hawaii is warm because we are located near the Tropic of Cancer. Do not expect our Hawaii sea level property to have the same climate as your home. We offer optional air conditioning use for a fee. The "bedroom window" A/C unit is not ducted whole house central air-conditioning . Guest may choose to option "in" for A/C use on arrival and pay.

Additionally, orchids and houseplants located throughout the house ad a feeling of home. The living and dinning areas are decorated with a mixture of restored vintage rattan furnishings, custom Hawaiian island decor, and art. Cynthia’s place is beautiful, and by far the best-equipped rental we’ve EVER stayed in. Full kitchen (and grill) that has everything you could want, and lots of outdoor equipment too. Really comfortable bed, though of note even though it is a separate master bedroom, there is not actually a door - might only be an issue if one person is doing middle-of-night Zoom calls. Location is perfect, and beach access is RIGHT across the street. We could even see a tiny bit of waves from the bedroom. Also half a block from the general store that makes terrific hot and cold sandwiches at very reasonable prices. Hope to return some day!!

We had a wonderful 5-night stay. Cynthia and her husband were very friendly and shared a lot of the history of the area. The cottage has everything you could possibly need, including a first aid kit. The space is roomy, and the backyard is divine, though I recommend bug repellent if you’re going to spend much time out there, especially closer to the evening. Fortunately, there is bug repellent there! The area of Puako is, of course, incredible. Right across the street is beach access. Literally. I took a swim within half an hour of our arrival. If you’re looking for a place to relax and have access to the best beaches, this is a perfect spot. Stores are within a 15 minute drive (plus there’s a general store with basic items just a 2 minute walk away). People are friendly. Turtles swim around the bay. We had a great time loafing around, reading, eating, and napping! We forgot to write in the guest book, but we highly enjoyed our stay!

Simply the best VRBO stay we have ever. Cottage is in immaculate condition, kitchen is stocked to cook whatever you want. Decorating is so beachy and comfortable. Loved the outdoor seating areas, and the ocean is just across the street. Turtles pop up their heads and say hello as you wait for the sunset. Owner is very helpful and knows so much history of the area. We had a wonderful time!

Cynthia and John and created a lovely and restful place that is clean and well appointed. The craftsmanship and maintenance throughout cottage and grounds was tops. The kitchen was very well appointed with good quality pots and pans, plenty of tools and utensils, and the barbecue was spotlessly clean and well maintained. Having not one but many comfortable places outside to relax was really nice. The outdoor shower and hose were perfect for cleaning up after adventures.

We loved this spot in Puako and will be back! It was the perfect place for 2 and just across from the beach access. Cynthia was very helpful from the time we booked our stay until checkout. She also gave us lots of great ideas on things we could do during our stay.
