Very quiet yet close to everything. Kitchen is equipped so well and we loved it.
Only negative/be-aware-of first: it can get hot and muggy in the afternoons. Don't leave the windows open hoping for a breeze, we figured out that leaving them shut after the early morning kept some of the overnight coolness in the house. We appreciated the super comfortable mattress and luxurious pillows and slept well here. We saved a lot of money on our trip by using their kitchen and their ice chest to pack lunches. It was nice that they provided your first day's coffee, sugar, oatmeal, some snack bars, beach towels, and washer/dryer. This place is not far from anything as the crow flies, but is way up the mountainside from the coast. The road to the house is in good condition (our little Toyota Corolla rental had no trouble), but can be a bit of a nail biter if you're not used to such steep roads that go straight up/down. We got used to it and would stay again, and the payoff is a lush semi-wild farmland surrounding you and a view down to the ocean below.
My husband and I like a rural country setting with cool nights, with the beautiful nature and local coffee, orange, banana and palm trees. we enjoyed the sunsets and sunrises on the patio.
We love this property. It is a great home base for all our island exploring. The host is attentive and anticipates potential needs. This property is a little gem on the Big Island!
Very nice place. Could use a small table and chairs for dining and the toaster doesn’t work very well. Otherwise everything is great.
The lower Haluloa Einar country home was very quaint and very pretty. Loved the location and the weather with the cool night breezes and the days that were perfect!
Everything was well provided. One with nature.
Would of liked better signs for night driving.
Nice & quiet.
Nice quiet comfortable place. Enjoyed sitting on the lanai and watching the sunset. Not the most comfortable couch
We booked this as a 1 night stay for our trip home out of Kona. It’s clean/comfy and has a nice little lanai where we enjoyed a cold drink as the sunset over the ocean on our last night in Hawaii. It’s a perfect spot for a couple with room for a +1 if needed.
We absolutely loved our stay at the charming Holualoa country home. The lanai boasts a stunning view of the ocean and sunset. While downtown Kona was sweltering in the heat, it was nice and cool on the mountain. I miss hearing the coqui frogs at night! The hosts leave lots of beach gear for your use - beach chairs, an umbrella, a boogie board, snorkels, a cooler, beach towels, etc., which is incredibly nice for those of us who fly in! I would not recommend a low-setting car for the drive up the mountain, though. You'll bottom out on some of the potholes.
Nice and quiet, the host was very responsive, perfect place for two people enjoyed our stay very much!
I knew I wanted to be away from the Kona area and have always loved the Holualoa laid back vibe. Great view from the lanai as I worked on my newsletter. Enjoyed the sunsets tremendously. No need for airconditioning as a leaving the windows slightly open works really well and if it get warmer or if you are warm from having been on a hike the ceiling fan at low speed in both the living room and bedroom work great. We had everything we could need and really enjoyed the coqui frogs serenading us as we went to bed. There is wonderful breakfast and coffee close by without having to go into Kona. It was loads of fun driving through the upper back roads - curvy and so lush and green. Kona has gotten ridiculous in collecting expensive parking fees especially close to the cruise terminal and so will only head to businesses that have free parking which is further away from the cruise terminal. Will stay again when are back on the west coast of the Big Island. Thank you very much for a lovely stay.
Very nice quiet place to regroup after a long flight.
Loved waking up to the roosters n the local wildlife. Remote n beautiful. I could live here n Kaleo was very friendly n communicative
BAD: The toaster did not work very well. The dish rack was rusted. The shower mat was gross. The bathroom floor needed to be cleaned. There were some ants in the microwave stand. I re-cleaned the shower as it was not to my standards, but it was not overly bad. I was glad there were cleaning products underneath the sink. The hill to drive up was a bit of a climb. Better signage for the house would be good. GOOD: The view was awesome. The grounds were great. The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. The water pressure was good as well as the drain in the shower (I hate standing water). Lots of little treats (snacks n coffee). Overall I would recommend but if you are picky it might not be for you.
Perfect for the two of us, this cottage (a diplex with a garage between the untis) is in the coffee countryside above Kailua Kona. Had everything we needed for our stay. Owner was terrific and even helped us when we had two flight cancellations for our return home. TBH, the first time you do the steep driveway you may think “ are you kidding me?” But after that first up and down you are a pro. Would stay there again!
Central to the island but off the main drag.
Love, love, love. Perfect place for a quiet decompression getaway!
Thank you!! 💕
Perfect getaway. Everything you need plus a cool mountain breeze. This host is amazing, reaches out with answers and responds almost immediately.
We hated to leave, it’s a “peace” of heaven on Earth.
Excellent house. Very very clean, organized and incredible view. Very private country setting. Comfy bed. Host left us core items like aloe and cooking items. Highly recommend!
Really well organized, very clean, and welcoming property.
We did have a hard time finding it at night but host was very gracious and provided very detailed instructions. It's not their fault we arrived late at night and couldn't see well.
We would love to stay there again!
We arrived just after the "Kona Low" storm had passed. Had a bit of difficulty locating the driveway in the dark but a gracious neighbor showed us the way. Awoke the next morning to no hot water but the owner quickly responded and the issue was remedied.
The house was very beautiful with all the amenities needed for a great stay. The extra touch with coffee and snacks was greatly appreciated.
Watching the sunset from the front porch was worth a million dollars and made the stay a memorable occasion.
Would recommend this place in a heartbeat and would love to return someday.
