Everything was great we were close to family who lives near by. Only issue was wifi was inconsistent & slow made hard to do some required work.
The house was lovely. The setting nestled in the tropical foliage was magical. The property had everything we needed, except an iron. The location is ideal, not far from the Volcano National Park. We would definitely stay again.
This was one of our favorite vacation rentals! The description and photos were spot on. The communication was quick and straightforward, and the instructions in the welcome email were very helpful. We thought the kitchen was well stocked, and the location near Volcano National Park was great, less than 10 minutes away. The furniture, bed and bathroom were much nicer than many places we have stayed. Even really nice towels! We did a day trip into Hilo and beyond, and that was also very doable. Overall, we'd stay here again if we ever came back to this area!! Thank you!

It was perfect! The home is in a neighborhood but you feel like you are all by yourself in the rainforest. It was minutes from Volcanoes National Park and not far from Hilo. The home was clean and comfortable. I especially loved the garden tub!
Thank you for letting us stay at this lovely property. Hale Mauka was clean and immaculate, and it has everything we needed. We enjoyed our stay. At night only sounds we heard were songs of coqui frogs, and pheasants came passing the yard in front of the house in the morning. The message sent by the Saltwater, which is in charge of the property maintenance, was clear and easy to understand. We would recommend the property to friends and will definitely come back in the future.
This rental was so lovely. Everything you could want for a quiet, relaxing getaway.

The house and grounds are spectacular! The pictures do not do it justice. The home is stunning with two large bedrooms, a huge bathroom and side bath, fully equipped kitchen, beautiful living room, the indoor/outdoor dining area is perfect and I can’t say enough about the huge porch.
Property management was very communicative prior to our stay to make sure we had contact info in case if there were any maintenance needs. The house was very clean when we arrived and everything was in good working order. We loved the decor, layout and location of the property. We had an amazing time enjoying our coffee on the porch in the middle of nature hearing the sounds of birds and no cars or traffic. We were minutes from the National Park entrance and were able to just go for dinner at the Volcano Inn. Both beds were super comfortable and we made great use of the kitchen/family room/living room ares. We would highly recommend staying here if you want to stay near the national park.

Fabulous base in Volcano. The house is modern and extremely comfortable. Interior layout is open and perfectly proportioned. The beds are great. The veranda is covered so you can be outside in type of weather enjoying the sounds of nature. Just a few miles from the entrance to the park, and close to Volcano village. I would absolutely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay at your well appointed home. It is ideally situated for dinner at some nice redoing Volcano Village and of course easy access to volcano national park. Make sure to dine at the Rim restaurant in the park, the view alone makes the trip worthwhile, and the food for breakfast was fairly priced and delicious

My entire family loved staying at this house, with its wide porches and gorgeous decor, nestled in the jungle. At night, we could hear the sounds of the jungle, snug and cozy inside the home. Volcano was much colder than we realized, and the wood stove came in handy. The porch allowed us to enjoy the view protected from the area’s intermittent fine mist. It was truly lovely.

Exactly as described. Very quiet (except for the coqui, neighborhood dogs when bothered by feral pigs, and the roosters at dawn). All quite pleasant for the setting and highly recommend! The location is perfect for exploring HI Volcanoes National Park and not a bad day trip for visiting Hilo proper or more Southern parts of the island. On the occasional rainy day, there were plenty of things to do inside--play games, cards, stream movies, or play DVDs. The kitchen was fully stocked with appliances needed to cook, and clean up was easy with the dishwasher. The washer and dryer was super convenient. The porch was a nice place to sit in the morning. Mahalo.

The house was spacious and extremely comfortable! Nicely decorated with interesting books to peruse. The tub was a highlight after much hiking at the National Park. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with everything you could need. Plus, the ceramic cups and plates were quite beautiful! We loved the green house dining room. Wished it was easier to access. The weather wasn’t quite in our favor, so didn’t get to use the lanai as much as we wanted. Plus, the neighbors had a huge party that went into the night, and the local dogs were very vocal throughout our stay. So not as quiet as expected. Rental company was very easy to work with.

In 2023, we stayed at Hale Mauka for 3 nights. We liked the residence, property and location so much that we doubled it to 6 nights for our 2024 stay. Residence is super clean and well decorated with a curated feel. Definitely not a “generic, could have found that anywhere” vibe. The 2 bed / 1.5 bath works perfectly for our family of 4.We definitely plan on staying again in 2025.
Lovely home close to National Park. It was very clean and welcoming and an ideal locale for exploring Volcano and Puna area. Close enough to Hilo if you don’t mind a bit of an (easy) drive. House itself has a great covered wraparound porch for coffee in am and relaxing at end of day; listening to birds and light rain noises- with the occassional barking of dogs. We took advantage of the mix of DVDs in the evening, as well as the guitar. Kitchen has everything you need in terms of pots, pans, dishes, glasses and cooking accessories, for cooking and dining. Lovely dining area in a screened in porch. We stayed 3 nights which was perfect. Highly recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed our three nights in early May. Hale Mauka was spotless and just as private as pictured, had tasteful and interesting art and decor, very comfortable bed, and spacious bath (not to mention the tub!). Thoughtful amenities such as small space heaters, flashlights and binoculars, and nicely appointed lanai, living room and fern-side dining room. The property team were very amiable and responsive, as well. We loved it!

Huge wrap around lanai, with dining area and gathering spaces, big windows tons of light, cozy interior, well stocked games and entertainment closet, extremely comfortable beds, well appointed kitchen- stocked with cooking tools and serveware…modern lighting, wood stove, felt safe, the list goes on! We really enjoyed our stay in your quiet little jungle home. Perfect location for exploring the volcanoes and not too far from Hilo.
The only suggestion we would have is to be able to have bins that you can place recyclables, cans, bottles, etc.
Such a beautiful home. Great location. Well equipped. It was so relaxing to get a fire roaring at night and enjoy a glass of wine after the kids went to sleep. Would book this home every time we visit Volcanoes National Park.
Very cute place in the rain forest! Bring your own oil and any spices you need. There were a few spices only, probably left by guests. A great grill. And wonderful bidet!
