The northwest (Kohala) coast of Big Island is lava-flow flat, treeless, hot and sunny. The Mauna Lani resort layers spectacular golf courses, a truly amazing club-owned beach and nearby retail/dining/grocery conveniences on top of that natural goodness. Together you get offer a modern, well-appointed location especially well suited for families with small kids and grandparents. This unit is perfect. Located directly across a driveway from their salt water pool and workout facility. And it's a 5 minute drive away from the private beach club featuring a world-class locally-sourced family-owned restaurant (). Unit is recent-construction with a huge dining/kitchen area for big family meals. Terrific AC, washer dryer. Well equipped for beach and snorkel outings. The Kohala Coast may not be your jam (TBH we like other parts of Big Island even more). And it is pretty far from the Costco and other amenities of Kona town. But you just can't argue at all with the Mauna Lani beach club. We have swam in lots of places on Oahu, Maui and Big Island. This is the only place we saw spotted eagle rays, eels, tuna and more in a single outing morning in the bay. The fishpond next door is frankly awesome, and worth visiting on its own.We would stay here again in a heartbeat, especially if we were coming/going to Mauna Kea (1/5 hrs away). Book with confidence, you won't be disappointed.
Great condo with everything you need. Comfortable beds and easy check-in and out. Will definitely stay here again next time we travel to Kona. We loved the beach chairs and umbrellas. Thank you for recommending Mauna Kea beach. Amazing beach and even got to see several sea turtles.
This unit was prefect for our family of three and certainly could have handled another person easily. We love Mauna Lani and this unit is located closer to the beach than many others in Mauna Lani.
Condo was clean, bed was comfortable, kitchen was well supplied. Living room shade across the lanai door worked nicely. It was nice to be able to eat outdoors at the table and chairs on the lanai. But the lighting at the bathroom mirrors was dim making it hard to use the mirrors. The air conditioner was noisy and the controls antiquated, specifically the 6 hour timer which would shut off the AC during the middle of the night.
