The Beachcomber bungalow is a tropical island style lodging... off on a dirt road, not on the main hwy, less than a minute walk to the beach. It is ideal for honeymooners, but also perfect for a family.
If your looking for a quiet, private and peaceful place to stay on your vacation, this may be the place for you. The Beachcomber Bungalow is an open and airy comfortable beach house, with wood and tile floors, high open beam ceilings and skylights in almost every room. It is tucked away in Haena, off the main road in a safe and quiet area, just steps from the beach. You will be lulled to sleep at night by the sound of the ocean. The white sandy beach out front has epic snorkeling and swimming (seasonal). The beach is great for long or short walks. It is less than a mile from Tunnels beach.
It is located just west of Kepuhi Point in Haena on the north shore of Kauai. You are a ten minute drive from the sleepy town of Hanalei, where you will find an abundance of restaurants and stores to fill all your shopping needs. Just three minutes in the other direction leads you along some of the most scenic, snorkeling beaches to the end of the road, the gateway to the spectacular Na Pali Coast and hiking trail.
This beach house can accommodate people that need wheelchair accessIbility. This house in on the ground, not up on stilts. There is a ramp to the front door, and a roll in shower in both the bathrooms. The whole house is not completely wheelchair accessible, the other bedrooms have a few steps up into them. But there is a nice open layout throughout the house on wood or tile floors for easy getting around whether you're in a wheelchair or not.
There is a king bed in the master bedroom and a queen-size bed in the other 2 bedrooms. This house has been lovingly cared for and has beautiful hand made Hawaiian hardwood kitchen counters. The kitchen has an open and easy design for cooking meals and has all the amenities to accommodate cooking for a family.
There is a nice dining area off the kitchen where you can eat your meals. There are woven bamboo panels and polished black bamboo accents on many of the walls in the house.
The address is 7183 Alealea Rd. Please note that this house is near the ocean and is considered the tsunami evacuation zone. Information on evacuation procedures is located in the information folder on the kitchen counter in the house. Evacuation procedures are: Go right out the driveway, turn R on OneOne rd. Turn left onto Kuhio Hwy. Stay on this road all the way to Princeville, which is considered high ground.

The location is one of our favorite anywhere, with a beautiful walk to a wonderful, low trafficked, neighborhood beach that looks out across Hanalei Bay. The house has nice character and is clean, but is older. It gets hot in the afternoon and into the night on sunny days, as does not have AC. But most places there don't have AC, and you're staying there for the north shore of Kauai, not to spend days in a house. It was perfect for that.

My favorite thing about this property was the birds singing in the morning and the crickets serenading at night. There were a lot of bugs inside and out and lizards, but that’s to be expected staying secluded in the jungle like that. Overall, the place was clean and comfortable. I do think the bedding should be updated. It is old and definitely is beyond feeling fresh. The master shower is a bit odd with the way the shower drain is set up, so that there really is no dry place to stand. Other than that, the layout was really nice. It felt very roomy, and the kitchen was very functional. The neighborhood felt safe and it was an easy walk to the beach. Also not too far from town and there were nice beach supplies to choose from, chairs, umbrellas, ice chests, snorkeling gear, etc.

Our family loved this spot. The house, neighborhood, beach access are perfect. Great for those who love a "true" Hawaiian get away. We did loose power for almost 2 days due to a big storm (lots of homes and businesses were affected) which was a little adventure for us. Keith (property management) was awesome, he stopped by to check on us and offer a generator for the frig. Excellent care! We would definitely recommend and would love to return to this spot.

The bungalow location was amazing. We were so close to the ocean we could hear the waves at night. It was a very enjoyable stay. We will stay here again when we return to Kauai.

The property was exactly as advertised—clean, quiet, and in a fantastic neighborhood just steps from a secluded beach with amazing snorkeling. Our family loved every moment and would absolutely stay here again!

Overall the stay was nice. The location is magical and this part of north shore is so beautiful and special. It does seem that nearly every house is a vacation rental, interesting enough! Communication and check in was easy and great. The main reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the bed / mattresses. They seem ancient and practically broke us. That is a true bummer to feel in pain and sore from sleeping/relaxing on vacation. There’s a foam topper on the master that just ends up feeling wet. Wish they’d make an easy upgrade that would cost about what they’d make from one nights stay. Since we had a 2 year old I do wish the curtains were a bit thicker to help black out the room for naps more. As well, since the doors and walls are paper in some places, there’s not a lot of sound proofing or privacy. This is in some other reviews so it’s just a matter of being aware Overall this was a nice little oasis to have for our stay and return to after beach days or adventures around the island. Thanks for having us!

This was a beautiful property with lots of privacy. There was more than enough room for the two of us but we enjoyed the space to spread out and make it our own for the week. We walked to the beach only steps away to watch the sunrise each morning over the mountains and ocean. We enjoyed meeting people in the community and there were four beaches within biking distance.
We biked to the Haena State Park and Hiking Trails as well as beautiful Ke Ke Beach. We would stay here again without a thought. Mahalo
