If you want to be in Paia, or minutes to Ho'okipa or Sprecklesville, you'll like this location. This is the relaxed, non-touristy Hawaiian experience. Plus, Paia is the north shore hub for all sports wind and wave. And, Paia is a walk-able town.
The north shore has no high rise buildings and is the antithesis of the 'resort' experience. Rather, here locals and visitors intermingle, the waves are world-class, and there's plenty of open space. Paia has galleries, restaurants, funky shopping and a wonderful natural foods grocery store called Mana Foods. It's a pretty laid back place.
Another nice thing about Paia and Paia House is that it's centrally located. When one comes to Maui, they want the beach - there's plenty of that here. But, people also want to drive the road to Hana, see the top of Haleakala (at 10,000 ft above sea level), and check out the other parts of the island. This is perfect hub.
Paia House is located in a neighborhood. There's a peek-a-boo view to the ocean. The walk to Paia town is about four minutes. There are neighborhood sounds: people, children, dogs, and a school bus that comes through during the school year.
Further Details: All rooms have new split AC units and overhead fans. Out back is a covered lanai. Here's where you may store gear, dry it out, work out kite line tangles, do yoga, have a bbq, and kids may play. There's a yard, picnic table, hammock, fruit trees, flowers, chairs, and some beach gear we leave for guests (snorkels, masks, some boogie boards, beach chairs, a cooler, etc.)
Also, as is very Hawaiian style, the washer/dryer is outside. This keeps the heat outside too. And, if you prefer to dry things in the sun, there's a clothesline.
We also generate electricity with the photovoltaic (PV) solar panels located on the roof.
Also, we supply filtered water and Hydroflasks for you to use while traveling around. Please consider skipping the one-use plastic water bottles and use these instead. Mahalo!
Rooms are not huge, but there's plenty of space and a ceiling fan in each.
A mid-stay clean is mandatory for stays of 8 nights plus.
There's a carport for two cars.
This is a well appointed plantation-style home that's perfectly situated for a relaxing north shore vacation.

Everything about the house was great. It is in a local neighborhood not far from downtown. We stayed the first week up at Kaanapali. We finished out our vacation here with our kids who are all adults.

We loved staying in a neighborhood within waking distance to Paia with its restaurants, beaches, and stores. The house is extremely well equipped. The kitchen had everything. There there was ample beach equipment.
Note that one of the two bathrooms is just putside the kitchen door.
It's only 15 minutes from the airport, 25 from Ma'alaea Harbor (where boat trips depart from), and it is on 'The Road to Hana'.
Paia House was plenty large for our family group of five adults. Highly recommend if, like us, you are not resort people.

My family and I really enjoyed staying here. We were in Maui for 10 days - our first trip there. We spent 4 nights on the west side, and then another 6 nights in this house. The neighborhood is decent, but the house is just fine and the very short walk to the very cool town of Paia is awesome. I also liked being near other attractions on this side of the island. I recommend staying here.

This house was very comfortable with a great location and not stingy on supplies. Beautiful beaches to walk or drive a short distance. Chairs, coolers and some snorkel gear provided, and ec n had sand toys for castle builders. Coffee was provided for the first morning, and it was great coffee. Restaurants and shopping are just a short walk which is great since parking in town fills up. Kitchen was so nice that we ate at the house a couple of nights, and the outdoor space was as nice as the inside. Loved everything!!

The Paia House had a little bit of everything to offer. The location was great, with a short walk to a local beach, best for looking at turtles and the sunset, as well as a walk into town to eat, shop or go to Mana Foods for groceries. The house itself was spotless, comfortable, spacious and well equipped including everything for the beach. In the backyard was a welcomed spot for enjoying outdoor meals and doing laundry and had an orange tree and many tropical bushes with flowers. We appreciated all of the attention to so many details and really enjoyed our home away from home each day! Thank you!

Six of us sixty-somethings had a great stay here. Spent most of our awake time at the house on the lanai, eating, talking, laughing. The grill was top notch, and there were ample facilities for cooking and eating. Beds were comfy and AC adequate for the warm evenings when we got home from our excursions. Great location for doing everything we did; Road to Hana, Farmers Market in Pukolani, beaches in Kihei, groceries in Kahalui and the Mana store, whale watching cruise at Maalea, and watching the extreme surf at Hookipa and Jaws. And super clean which we all appreciated!

Over priced for what you get, wouldn’t recommend this property
Neighbors are super noisy every night.
House needs to be updated.

Arriving late at night from a flight delayed by 13 hours we weren’t a happy family. A few text exchanges with Darcy the property manager to confirm we would still be arriving - at 2am - helped us feel at ease with such a late arrival. WOW - house was great, beds are fantastic, location to “town” was a 3-5 min walk. We would definitely stay at Paia house again - helped make our holiday a good lifetime memory!!

We were thrilled with the location so close to town. Access to beaches and waterfalls was much better than the South side where we had stayed before. The house is a perfect base for adventures with comfortable beds and a nice kitchen. Close to Safeway and restaurants.
