Welcome to your home away from home, Hale Ke Kai, “where the land and sea meet.” You will come to find out why so many local residents and visitors call it one of the best units at Colony I. We feel honored to have the opportunity to show you the reasons so many have fallen in love with the islands. Those reasons are here to be found in abundance.
The Big Island is our home and we go to great lengths to help you feel at home too. This spacious and beautifully furnished one bedroom condo is single level with absolutely no steps. Although it is considered a condo, there are no upstairs or downstairs neighbors, only the back wall of the closet is shared. Hale KeKai is unit #23 at the Sea Mountain Resort. The lanai (patio) is very private. Speaking of the lanai, “Wow!” is the usual response. Sweeping unobstructed ocean views that blend gently without interruption into an incredible mountain view. This is Hawaii, your Hawaii.
A high quality king size bed in the master bedroom will combine with the soft breezes and gentle lull of the waves to bring calm wondrous dreams of the beauty of the real Hawaii. The living and dining areas also have sweeping ocean views and are outfitted tastefully yet comfortably as this is as much our home as yours. The living area also boasts a fold out sofa bed that we have slept on ourselves and is very comfortable.
The kitchen with range, oven, microwave, full size fridge, coffee/espresso maker, dishwasher, and small appliances is well stocked with quality flat ware, a variety of teas, and condiments and spices to get you started on the meal of your choice.
The bathroom has a cavernous granite tiled shower that is an easy step inside. We love every corner of this place and believe you will too.
Enjoy some world famous Ka’u Coffee on the lanai or hang out at the pool or hot tub with new found friends, either way you will be glad to have found one of the world’s hidden gems. Punaluu Black Sand Beach, consistently voted one of the Top Ten Black Sand Beaches in the World, is only a few minutes’ walk away. Sunbathe beneath the palms, snorkel with turtles, or watch them haul up on the beach. For the more adventuresome, hike out either direction and re-discover Hawaiian historical sites (please show due respect to all archaeological sites and observe proper viewing distance and rules regarding all marine creatures).
Hale Ke Kai is perfect for any family or couple seeking the trip of a lifetime. A secluded, yet accessible wonder that will be remembered.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is only 30 minutes away, making Punaluu the closest ocean front lodging. Hike the volcano by day and relax in the hot tub under the stars by night. The pool and hot tub have wonderful ocean views and you can barbeque fresh island fish or local grass fed beef on one of the quality barbeques next to the pool.
Our special vision for Hale Ke Kai is for people who may be less able to travel to have the chance to visit one of the best kept secrets in the world…and be comfortable. Hale Ke Kai has no steps, no stairs, just a little bump at the front and sliding doors. This means couples where one partner is movement impaired or a family with aging parents can still share moments of beauty and peace. Our goal is for every family member, including children, to feel safe and at home. Should you or your loved one have special needs, please contact us, we will make every attempt to ...

Property was excellent minus 2 things. It has no air conditioning and is over an hour from any meaningful supplies. Absolutely great view and remote rural setting. The condo has everything you need. Jeff is a great host.

A great base camp to explore everything the big island has to offer. Far enough from the crowds around Kona, but convenient enough to everything from hiking to snorkeling.
The property is well maintained. Evening trade winds help keep things cool overnight.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The proximity to volcano national park and the black sand beach were fantastic. The property is well stocked. The listing does state no air conditioning and there are plenty of fans, but the days did get a little uncomfortably warm for us.

This was our second time staying here, we love it! The sweeping ocean view coupled with the soothing sound of the ocean just can't be beat! The condo is very well-outfitted for comfort and the neighborhood is super chill. All in all, I'd give it 10 stars if I could and I can't wait to stay here again!

My husband and I came here to celebrate our retirement with a longer vacation to give us time to relax and enjoy Hawai'i. The condo was clean and was well stocked. The community pool area and grill were clean and gave us the opportunity to connect with other guests as well as local residents. The location is remote which is partly what we were looking for however, I didn't fully appreciate how remote it was. This made it a little more difficult to eat out and get groceries, travel times are definitely a lot longer here than back in Colorado. The unit temperature was comfortable with a combination of the breeze and fans. Some nights I was actually a little cold. It was great walking to the beach but the road can get busy at times. It is really quiet at night and the stars are amazing, we got to see the full moon over the water and it was gorgeous. Jeff was a great host and both checking in and out were very smooth. I would stay here again. Thank you.

We enjoyed a lovely stay in this condo by Punaluu beach. It had everything we needed for a comfortable 4 day visit to the south side of the island.
Very quiet and beautifully manicured condo complex on a retired golf course that is now beautifully overgrown. You can walk 10 min to the black sand beach to snorkel with turtles, or follow the coast line on a trail that goes for miles along a variety of landscapes. Good location to enable a long day at Volcano National Park withiut having to spend so much time driving to/from the park.
This condo complex is more remote, but that is part of its charm, so make sure you get some supplies for cooking and making your own drinks in the condo so you can just settle in and enjoy.

Quiet corner unit with relaxing view. Easy to navigate to, host was responsive and gave good check-in instructions. Enjoyed our visit and cannot beat the sunrise views, just a short drive/walk to Punaluu “black sand” beach.

Wish we had kleenex and more than one trash can. Kind of expected some kind of mid week cleaning. Overall the location was nice. Guess air conditioning isn't something in any of the units. Humidity was oppressive a lot of the time and we were gone most of the mornings and early afternoons.
