Update on Maui Fire situation:

We are safe on the North Shore and have not been affected by the fires or smoke other than emotionally. It is tragic. Our hearts are broken and we cry and pray for the people of Lahaina, friends and family members.

We believe there is a misunderstanding from the people on the mainland hearing that only essential travel is permitted to Maui. They are right now asking tourists in Kaanapali to leave for their safety and also to prepare rooms for residents who have lost their homes. A lot of tourists have left the island, others have moved to Wailea, Kihei, North Shore.

Mayor Bissen confirmed during a news report on 8/10 that they are preventing tourism to the West Side but that Maui IS OPEN for tourism. Tourists can go to Wailea, Kihei, Hana, and the North Shore.
It would be a catastrophe for all the Maui merchants if tourism stopped all over the island. Maui needs the tourists' support by them coming, not by canceling their visit.

Anyhow we have been and will be fully refunding cancellations at this time for guests who prefer to cancel their trip in August and September.

Valerie and Craig (owners) have raised the “host” bar; they both truly embrace the meaning of “Aloha.” The property and cottage are very well maintained with all the comforts of home. Now, let’s talk view- Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous! It was a relaxing week of fun, excellent food, conversation and at day’s end it was a joy to return to “Maui by the Sea.” Truly.

We had a wonderful time during our stay. Valarie and Craig were amazing hosts. Check in and out were incredibly easy. The property had a view of the ocean and a beautiful area to hang out on a shared lawn overlooking the sea. We highly recommend this rental and will definitely try to stay the next time we visit Maui.
