Of the 26 charming duplex cottages in the gated Mokuleia Beach Colony, only five actually face the ocean; and this is one of them! You’ll wake to the sound of waves, sit on your open lanai and see nothing but aquamarine water and morning sky. The ocean is right there in front of you, just a few steps away. This beach bungalow was designed in the 1960s and has been decorated by a Hawaiian-born artist, whose paintings of the Mokuleia ocean, sky and landscape hang on the walls.
- THE BEACH -
The Sand Dollar Cottage offers a stunning view of a beach that stretches for miles in either direction; ideal for swimming, walking and snorkeling in the coral reef. You rarely see anyone and have warm water, day and night!
- THE NEIGHBORHOOD -
A twelve minute drive down a country road will take you to the famous surfing town of Haleiwa; where you can dine in one of the many restaurants and shop for clothes, local art, shave ice and fresh fish, steaks and produce. The Colony has a beautiful guest-only pool and five minutes up the road towards Ka’ena Point, there’s kite surfing and skydiving.
- FROM THE OWNERS -
The home has more return guests than any other in our inventory, but after years of 5 star ratings it has recently received some critical reviews. The owners have taken these to heart and have addressed all maintenance issues in the house. Below is a word from the owners:

Aloha to all of our longtime guests. Wanted you to know we spent a couple of weeks in March renovating and restoring 13B. It needed it. You'll find a new kitchen: counters, cabinets, sink, faucet and a new glass-top stove. We also painted the unit, put in a new, higher vanity, sink and faucet, and new outdoor lighting. We restored all the louvers and jalousies that needed it and even added a more powerful modem for better WiFi. We left the ocean view and sunsets alone since no one could improve that.

Smoking strictly prohibited at Mokuleia Beach Colonies, both indoors and outdoors and pets are not permitted on the property. Service animals are permitted only with prior approval of the Mokuleia Beach Colony board. The State of Hawaii prohibits smoking in public parks and at all beaches. There are no areas near the unit designated for smokers. These bans include e - cigarettes.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: About six yards from the water, I paced it off. A sea wall of around ten feet is all that keeps the ocean back, amazing unobstructed view you never tire and rocks you to sleep. The condo lanai overlooking the ocean is the best feature, inside is adequate but dated. Newer appliances help that part. A studio floor plan so a single, a couple or family with small children, are best suitability. You will never be closer and have a more spectacular view of the tropical ocean.

We really enjoyed being where we could relax. The cottage and the surrounding area was perfect, getting us away from traffic but leaving us easy access to the things we wanted to do. We would definitely rent again if we make it back.

Private, safe and perfect for a couple. No air conditioning but we adjusted quickly. Very quiet, gated community that smells of Plumeria trees. Just breathtaking!

The property is well maintained, the landscaping is gorgeous and it is very quiet and peaceful. Sand Dollar Cottage is located directly oceanfront. The cottage itself is very simple and clean. The view from your lanai, the stars at night and the sound of the ocean is magnificent. We've stayed here 5 times and can't wait to come back!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Very relaxing 10 days, quiet and layed back. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The views were beautiful and I saw turtles everyday.. two days in a row I saw a harp seal catching and eating fish in the water directly in front of our patio. A bit warm as the breezes off the ocean die down in the evenings. The fans helped. I definitely would return to this spot. It’s a studio and small, but it was perfect for just the two of us.

All the amenities are provided. Gated community. No additional parking fees. Outdoor shower was a surprise. Geckos live behind the pictures on the walls.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our stay here was excellent. Waking up to the ocean right out front and mountains in the background. It was gated so we felt pretty safe. There was a plumbing issue that was dealt with promptly and everyone on the grounds was friendly. I hope to one day make it back there. It’s perfect for our family and our little honeymoon.
