Beautiful location, beautiful layout. Helpful to have laundry and kitchen on site. We realized we were booking a house in a remote area of Kauai. We actually welcome geckos on walls (they're cute, eat bugs, and make cool sounds). We would have preferred that their poop be cleaned off the walls regularly. The refrigerator seal was so badly broken that it was impossible to close the refrigerator 80% of the time (you had to tuck the seal in just right). My husband fixed it, but shouldn't have had to on his vacation. There was no address marker at all. Not on the road near the highway, not on the house. The house is "rustic" (which is fine!) but could also use a deep clean, especially the floors. Again, bugs and geckos are to be expected when you're smack in the jungle but it really seemed as if the house hadn't been deep cleaned (gecko poop all over bathroom, kitchen walls; tons of dirt/dust/grossness behind washer and dryer). To be fair, we did not inform the management company of the address/refrigerator issue until the day we left, but it was pretty clear that the refrigerator seal had been an ongoing issue as it had been glued (and failed) multiple times.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our third year in a row that we stayed here and this time we were there for 5 weeks. We really love this place - the house, garden, screened in lanai, privacy, and especially the location! We stayed in many places in Princeville previously but weren’t happy there. We hope to keep coming back here!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a glorious time at this house. It was such a chill retreat from the beach. We were able to make cook a number of meals with the fully equipped kitchen and are still daydreaming about the expansive yard.

House is private, spacious, has a large kitchen. Bathrooms and laundry were clean. There are beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels. Agency was v helpful. We shipped a package, they stayed late at the office so we could pick it up. The trash wasn't collected, but when we called, someone came and got it. They linked us a co that rents kid’s eqpt, and that was easy. We avoided bringing a crib, stroller, beach toys, and a beach tent! Flaws with staying here: One review said house has air conditioning. It does have 2 a/c units. They are not installed, and do not have the accordions to seal the doors. My husband set them up and filled the gaps with pillows. While they blew cold air, was not enough to chill the main room. The last few days we set one up in the bedroom, then we didn't want to spend any time in the rest of the house - might as well have gotten a hotel room. Listing does not mention A/C, so we shouldn't have expected it. It was still a primary reason why we chose this rental and we were disappointed. The windows need to be locked because of the risk of break-ins, but it is v hot when you get back. My dad had heat exhaustion after a hike and we didn't bring him back to the house because he would just get hotter. We spent the rest of the day driving around with the AC on. There is a microwave, but none of the dishes are microwave safe. Two people burned their hands taking plates out of it. We ran out of TP, paper towels, trash bags, and dish detergent. The road to Hanalei is closed most of the day on weekdays because of a landslide, and you will wait in line to get through. I'm not sure when this will be resolved, but you should check before you book. Completely out of anyone’s control and it means the beaches are pretty quiet during the week! Some work needed to be done - they consulted with us when we checked-in. Would've been nice to finish before we got there. There were aluminum shavings on the lanai which we found on my DD’s feet for the rest of the trip. Debris filled up the trash cans. Since the work is done, shouldn't be a problem! Re other reviews: Yes, there are mosquitos. This is the jungle and you will get bit. We didn't see any other bugs - the house was spotless. Close the screens and the house and lanai are safe. The house is private but not isolated. There are neighbors through the trees. We didn't see anyone, but we could hear people, cars, dogs. No one else was "staying" on the property.

This property was dirty. We were covered in bites. Someone living on the property. We left early. They should refund us for our time.
