We had a wonderful stay here. The house is clean, quiet and relaxing. Away from the business of the resorts. Scott is a kind host!
We stayed on three islands in our trip and three different rentals. This one was our favorite! Super clean, very spacious and the host was awesome. The beach across the street had amazing snorkeling, but bring water shoes because it’s rocky. We would definitely come back and highly recommend this property! Thanks for a great stay!
Loved our stay here! The house is in a perfect location, very peaceful at the end of a dead end road and right across the street from a rocky beach with great snorkeling. It was so nice to not have to drive anywhere if we didn’t want to. And it is within easy walking distance of the resorts, so we were able to walk to have a fancy dinner one night.
The house was large, the bedrooms were nicely spread out to allow for privacy and each bedroom had its own bathroom. There were also multiple lanais to relax on. The house was remarkably clean. Snorkel gear and boogie boards and beach chairs were all provided. Really couldn’t ask for a better place and if we return to this island I would most definitely stay here again.
Puako at its finest—quiet, comfortable and spacious with wonderful access to the ocean and petroglyphs.
We had two families stay here together and it worked well for us. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and shower which was really nice. We loved the huge outdoor seating area and the great location near the best snorkel spots. Host was very available. We would definitely come back!
Sunsets at the beach across the street were beautiful and kids loved playing in the tide pools!
We really liked this house. It was one of the most comfortable places we have ever rented. The house was clean and well maintained. The kitchen had everything we needed with good quality dishes and cookware. The bed we used had a comfortable mattress and pillows. One of the pleasant features of this house was the many windows that allowed good air flow into the house. I always rent a house with air conditioning but we didn’t need it at all with this house. My husband loved the large lanai and spent most of his time outside the house on the lanai. Scott was pleasant when I needed questions answered and otherwise an unintrusive host.
Rented the mango hale for myself and 3 friends. The house was perfect. We each had our own bedroom/bathroom - each room had its own vibe/features. 2 bedrooms were more inside the house, the other two off the lanai. My room had an outdoor shower which was so refreshing. We were so close to ocean access (very rocky - sandals/water shoes were a benefit). Sat out on the lanai every morning drinking coffee. It was seriously one of the best vrbo’s. Thank you!
My husband and I call Mango Hale “our happy place”. This is the 3rd time we have stayed here and will be back next year.
This is a fantastic property. Huge lanai with two large sitting areas, dining table and grill. We love being awakened every morning to the birds as the sunrises, drinking coffee on the lanai. Then going for a quick snorkel across the street or a long hike along the ocean past the resorts. The location couldn’t be better.
The property is very clean and well stocked. The kitchen has all the equipment needed to prepare meals. The provided bath and beach towels are good quality.
There are private balconies with 2 of the bedrooms with nice chairs as well as another off the kitchen with table, chairs and a shoe rack to hold all your sandy flip flops. All the furniture and beds are comfortable.
Lots of beach equipment (chairs, boards, noodles, cooler) available.
Both Scott and Rick are attentive, but not at all intrusive… only seem to be there when you need them…perfect hosts.
A lovely location and an excellent value. Though it's very near the resorts and some palatial new beach pads, it's old-school Hawaii.
The nearest beaches are very "local," nice for walking, sitting, or fishing. (It's a short drive to white-sand Hapuna, where you now pay big bucks to show up: $10/vehicle + $5/person --> 4 people = $30).
There's persistent ants in the building, including fire ants. My ant Kung Fu is strong, so we had a truce and no one was bitten/stung. But be clean, proactive, and alert, and I don't recommend going around barefoot.
The surprise was the sleeping situation. There *are* 4 bedrooms, but with the funky semi-open layout, no room offers complete cool and quiet. Either the rooms don't have AC, or doors, or windows that you can close to the outside. But it usually cools off at night, and the two cooling units (heat pumps) definitely help.
I want to emphasize that it's not all bad. I'm saying manage your expectations and you'll have a unique and charming experience of Hawaii the way it used to be.
The home was a perfect island get away. The unit had all we needed and a cool screened room, waking in the morning to the birds. For the windy nights there are rooms with less noise and air-conditioning units. There were multiple decks and comfortable deck furniture. The unit was kitty-corner from the beach. The beach had beautiful sunsets and a great reef.
This unit will be on our list for our next trip.
