This house sits on a very unique piece of land. Properties like this are few and far between. The views are so beautiful and you're literally steps away from one of the best beaches in Kauai. The house itself is comfortable and has a cozy feel.
A few things worth noting:
- the location is quite remote and going anywhere is an adventure so be prepared to spend most of the time near the house.
- there's no ac so nights can be a bit hot in the primary bedroom.
Joe, the owner, lives next door with his wife and was very helpful. Overall this a great property and I would definitely recommend it.
My husband and I enjoyed an amazing weeks stay. The location can’t get any better than this. You walk through the path at the back of the property and you’re on Tunnels Beach. It was perfect; no dealing with parking, worrying about bathrooms, keeping food (and drinks) cold, carrying all your things a distance. That’s why you rent a home in this location - no stress.
The home is large and if there are 3 couples you each would have privacy with your own bedrooms/ bathrooms. The kitchen had cookware, dish ware, glassware and a large frig/freezer, a nice large gathering area in the kitchen and great room area.
Once you have traveled out here, you want to enjoy every minute and not have to make a supply run. Joe (fantastic host) did mention he does not supply anything since covid, which is understandable.
You will need to bring; salt/pepper, spices/seasonings, coffee, oils/butter, foil, plastic wrap, etc There were coffee filters, dish/ dishwasher soap and hand soap.
As for the other supplies there was shampoo/ conditioner, soap, plenty of towels (beach and home) and laundry detergent. You might think about bringing your Apple TV to expand your viewing options in the TV room. There were beach folding chairs and a couple umbrellas which was great.
Overall a great place to stay at the end of the road. We will be back!
What an extraordinary piece of paradise! We are filled to the brim as we finish up our three-generation family dream vacation in this glorious home. It is, by far, the most incredible home we’ve ever rented. We had high expectations but were not prepared for our breath being continuously taken away by the views of the coastal mountains against the sea. Every day, we were delighted to have a direct path from the house onto Tunnels Beach for the best snorkeling of our life. Stargazing on the spacious lawn was another bonus with Milky Way views for days! The home was cozy, inviting, beautifully crafted. We really appreciated the owner’s attentive hospitality. We can’t wait to come back!
This house is the most peaceful and lovely place I have ever stayed at on this planet. The actual house is so clearly well maintained and stocked with top quality products. The yard, view and beach access is absolutely unrivaled. I could not recommend this space more!!!!
We stayed at this amazing property for nine days and it is by far the best experience I have ever had with VRBO or any other rental. The owner has been in the area for decades and was very helpful during our entire stay. We have been to Kauai multiple times and this was by far our best experience. If you want to be directly on the beach and relax and watch amazing sunsets and rainbows this is the place to be. We will definitely be returning to this property if Joe will have us back!!

There is simply no better property in Kauai. We’ve been coming to the island for years and this is hands down the best property on the island. If you are looking for a quiet, secluded, private experience with the best beach on the island, this is it. The mornings, evening and nights are the best - we had the beach all to ourselves most days. Don’t plan any excursions, you won’t want to leave this property. Joe is a great host, be sure to visit Postcards restaurant in Hanalei at least once…best cuisine on the island.
We had a simply amazing week at this beautiful home! Best location on the island. Walk right out to Tunnels Beach for the best snorkeling in Kauai. I only gave it a 4 for cleanliness because there was gecko poop on the beds and some sticky film on the kitchen countertops. The owner was very concerned when we told him about this and was going to speak with the housekeeper. Owner was next door and readily available. The beds were super comfortable with the master bedroom facing the ocean with direct view of Nepali Coast. Beautiful view of the sunset and stars on clear nights. Relaxing and comfortable stay. Would stay here again!
