This darling home, built over 100 years ago, is the Crown Jewel of Kawela Bay, as it sits right in the middle of the beautiful crescent beach,.
Kawela Bay is calm, even in the winter months, as there is a protective reef at the entrance to the bay. We also have a nice surf break outside the bay that is perfect for kayaking, paddle boarding and surfing. However, the bay itself, is wonderfully calm and safe for children.
The property consists of two homes, and a separate studio space, for your use. It is perfect for family reunions, as it will sleep many people. Cozy and cute, you will feel at home in paradise. And once through the gates of this private community, you will leave the world behind and feel immersed in the colors of the turquoise water and baby blue skies. The large sea turtles come onto the sand every nite, to sleep right in front of the house. Yes, it's paradise!
The original cottage is quaint and charming. This home is the kind of home that is a treasure, and we feel blessed each morning when we watch the sun rise from our bedroom windows, and when we walk out on the front deck to greet the day.
The main cottage has a master bedroom with a King size bed, and another bedroom with two twin beds.
About 30 feet from the original house is a two story cottage. This was built for our children and grandchildren for when they come to visit. This cottage has 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms. The upper floor of the cottage is where my art studio is located, and includes my large art table, perfect to sit around to play games. This living space is furnished with a sofa, chairs, a tv and a small refrigerator. no stove or oven. This cottage is a great place for people to sleep, and for children to play or watch tv. When our extended family visits, we always have our meals together in the main house.
Below the main house is a studio living space that we call the "Surfer's Unit". It has a queen bed, living room area, kitchen, toilet, day bed and a private enclosed outdoor hot & cold shower.
Kawela Bay is a private gated community. The North Shore is considered 'country' and on your drive to our home, you will pass black and white cows and sheep. When you enter the gate at Kawela Bay, you will turn down a country road and you will begin to feel like you have stepped back in time. Like you are coming home.
Kawela Bay is as perfect a bay as you would ever wish for! It is 1/2 a mile long, in a beautiful crescent shape. The bay is safe for swimming, year around ( even during the large surf in the winter time ) as it is protected by a reef. You can float on rafts and commune with the sea turtles that call our bay their home.
This bay is a perfect place to paddle board. We have kayaks and paddle boards for your use, and plenty of beach chairs and towels. Just head down the steps and you're on the sand!
or play golf on their famous golf course. Many movies are filmed here. The latest being The Hunger Games. There are wonderful walking paths through the trees or along the deserted beaches.
It is not necessary to ever leave Kawela Bay, and you will find that the outside world just disappears when you are here, and only beauty and harmony exist.
Kawela Bay is located on the laid back north shore of Oahu, between famous Sunset Beach and the Turtle Bay Resort. Kawela Bay offers calm turquoise waters, perfect for snorkeling and diving, and the only white sand beach on the North Shore open year round for swimming and sunbathing. ' television series. Kawela Bay is also home to many sea turtles. You can walk the beach all the way to Turtle Bay, or drive to Sunset Beach to watch the surfers. The whole north shore provides lots of 'old Hawaii' flavor, yet also offers shopping and fine dining. Other recreational activities in the area include golf, hiking, biking, horseback riding, windsurfing and sailing. Haleiwa Town is just a 25 minute drive from Kawela, and Honolulu is approximately 48 miles away.
Irma Jimenez is our on island manager and will be there to greet you upon your arrival.
**Please note that we have two outdoor only kitties that add to making this place feel like you are home.
Sending sweet aloha breezes.
Mahalo!

Marilyn and Gary, we had a wonderful time at your place. It is the best for all the little ones we had with us. Over the time we stayed we had 5 of our six children and their families come and stay with us. It is so great to let them play on the beach and in the water without worrying about them getting knocked over by the surf. The house and cabin are just the best. They are so accommodating for our group.
Marilyn, Jan and I had more time this trip to appreciate all your art work. It is amazing and we were even able to make it thru the month without any of the little ones breaking any of it.
We love the North Shore. For us it is so nice to be so close to the PCC and the temple in Laie and be away from the crowds of the other parts of the island. We were able to attend church in Kahuku and feel the Aloha spirit of a different culture even though the church is the same as everywhere in the world.
The Family is already talking about coming back but it will be at least two years before we are willing to consider it – it is a large expenditure when we pay for everything.
It was sure worth it.
Thanks
Morgan and Jan Lynch

This was a vacation to celebrate my significant birthday year with our 3 married children their spouses and our 5 grandchildren. The 2 houses were perfect for 13 people. The location could not have been better...right on the ocean that provided swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking. Our families had the opportunity to further bond with each other creating memories that will last a lifetime. Kawela Bay ,a private protected location on the north shore was close to world surfing competitions and the wooded walk to the Turtle Bay resort and the historic banyan tree. We were also fortunate to witness the filming of the television series Hawaii -Five - O.

My wife and I wanted our family of 15, which includes 7 grandchildren ranging from 5 to 15 years old, to participate in a family trip that all would create great memories for the rest of their lives. Let me tell you, our plan was a great success! This beautiful home was amazing and it supplied us with everything we could ever need. There was more than enough space for all of us and we were all able to make it our home for the 9 days we spent there. Just as the other reviewers have mentioned, the home and grounds are absolutely beautiful! We mostly enjoyed how convenient and fun it was to be just a few steps from the bay. The bay is a perfect place for the kids to enjoy just about any water sport they wanted to participate in. It was a comfort to all the adults to be able to watch the kids from the beach or balcony. The kids were always in the water until dark.
Irma is absolutely one of the nicest and most patient persons we have ever met. We have a special needs 5 year old grandson who can eat only certain foods and needed to get access to the refrigerator before the house was ready for us. She went out of the way to greet us early in the day as they were cleaning and allowed us to supply the refrigerator and spend time at the beach while they finished in the home. Near the end of our vacation our 12 year old granddaughter had to have her appendix taken out. She spent the last 3 days on the couch watching t.v.. Irma came over and greeted her with a card and gift. Boy, did that make her day! Thank you for everything Irma.
Marilyn, the owner is absolutely correct when she says, "Kawela Bay is magical". She goes out of her way to keep you informed of the many things to experience in the area. As she mentioned, the Polynesian Cultural Center is a must see and all of us enjoyed it immensely. Kawela Bay truly is "magical" because my wife and I saw the "magic" in our families eyes the entire stay. Everyone was to the point of tears for the soul reason of having to end our wonderful vacation at such a beautiful property. We could not have asked for anything more to make our trip a dream come true.
A very special mahalo from all of us to Marilyn and Irma.
