We loved this VRBO. It was fully equipped with everything you’d need, was homey, lived in, and comfortable. We loved the deck and its proximity to the park. Someday we will come back!!
Loved this property....the closeness to Volcanoes National park and yet srill remote in the rainforest. Highly recommend to anyone coming to the park.
Wonderful 'treehouse' in the jungle, in a quiet, rural neighborhood yet very close to Volcanos National Park. The cabin had a well-equipped kitchen [including different coffee makers for those serious coffee drinkers], bottled drinking water, and was very spacious and open with floor to ceiling windows to make you feel like the jungle was inside. There are no window coverings but it wasn't an issue for us as the next-door house was a bit away. Plus, you could then tell when the volcano was erupting as you could see the orange sky/glow inside the cabin!!Great for two [though might be too cozy for two couples as the bedroom and bathroom walls don't completely go up to the ceiling]Best part was the heated mattress cover for the cooler nights. We never used the fireplace and found the wall heaters sufficient to take the chill off the cabin when needed. So close to park, it was easy when getting up in the early morning hours to check out the volcano and then come back to get more sleep before heading out for the day. Will stay here again.
A majestic location. Thank you for providing us with such a hospitable place to stay in volcano!
Was surrounded by the perfume, smell of hibiscus and ginger flowers. Very private quiet location. Would go there again.

Biggest advantage of the house is the short distance to the N.P. The house itself could be a little bit more cleaned. Also the bed is not very comfortable. But all in all we had a good time.
The cabin is very well fitted out
The house was so beautiful, clean, organized, surrounded by trees, ferns and birds. Couldn’t have asked for more, the host thought of everything. Close to Volcano Nat’l Park. The best was we saw an eruption on our last night there!! Would definitely stay again.
The treehouse is a wonderful tropical retreat minutes from Volcanoes National Park. It is located in a quiet neighborhood where wild pheasants roam and the stars are lovely at night. The house itself is very comfortable, and it is easy to feel at home.
Our stay at Volcano house was lovely. The house in in the perfect location. We spent a day touring the Hawaii Vanilla Farm, I highly recommend, and waterfalls. Then we spent 2 days exploring Volcano National Park. As listed, the park was very close. The house had a tropical cabin feel. It had everything we need. The host provided very detailed directions for everything, which i loved. Also, the host was very easy to communicate with the. My questions were answered very quickly. I would recommend this house. listed, the park was
It was easy to find (following host's directions, NOT GPS), clean, great amenities and plenty of space (for us 2).
Quiet and perfect! The rain sounds amazing on the roof! Off the beaten path but still super close to the NP!!!!
Amazing place. Such a fun, cabin type feel, in volcano. Host was responsive and so kind. Would recommend to anyone and stay again.
Location, location, location is what gives it 5 stars in our mind. Pretty cool cabin, being raised as it is makes it seem you are staying in a jungle. Plenty of extra blankets and the wood stove works great. All of the basic necessities, clean and comfortable. Being so close to the park it allowed us to hike around during the day, go back to the cabin for dinner and a break and go back to the park later in the evening after dark to view the volcano off of devastation trail.
The listing is totally accurate, it's not fancy but it's clean, comfortable, well stocked, and a super fun experience. I have to note, that binder was the most comprehensive one I've ever seen. I was incredibly impressed.
Well maintained property off the beaten path.
House was clean and had everything that we needed for our two night stay. Once we found the house, it was an easy 5 minute drive to/from Volcano National Park entrance. Enjoyed having dinner at Volcano House, picking up lunch at Rico's Taco Shop and made-to-order subs at Kilauea General Store that we brought to the park. We will be back..
Amazing setting up in the ferns! And wonderfully detailed instructions for each gadget. Thank you for sharing your treehouse with us.
This house felt just like a tree house nestled in the jungle. We loved the small sleepy town of volcano, but also liked being just about 8 minutes from the volcano national park entrance. The house was very clean, cozy and yet spacious for just the two of us. We kicked off our honeymoon with three nights in this beautiful home so that we could explore volcano national park. We loved every minute of it. I would definitely recommend buying groceries in Hilo or Kona before you come, as restaurants are limited as well as places to get groceries.
We loved Volcano National Park. The house was okay. We stay in a lot of VRBO’s. This one was not the best.
It was fantastic, very pleased with the property. If I had to make any suggestion it would be to have a portable fan available, it’s cool in the morning but sometimes muggy at bedtime :)
The house was great, everything was easy and it was close to the national park. We very much enjoyed our stay!
We stayed here for a couple nights when we went to Volcanoes National Park. It was less than ten minutes to park entrance. We felt like we were staying in a treehouse in the jungle. Very peaceful and most of the time all we could hear were birds and frogs. We had one small problem with a GFI outlet tripping when we arrived, but we called the owner and it was taken care of that night. The kitchen was well stocked and the futon had a great mattress. Really enjoyed everything here!
Staying in the treehouse was very memorable! Waking up to the lush fauna surrounding us and having breakfast on the lanai was very pleasant. The host did an incredible job explaining everything at the treehouse and communicating throughout our stay. We had no troubles and appreciate Matt sharing his unique space.
We enjoyed our stay at this interesting space. Matt has created a cozy and usable space with everything you might need to settle in. It is close to the National Park, so you can zip over to take in a hike or two, come back and eat lunch, and go again. We didn't watch TV, but the DVD library was impressive. We did use the bluetooth soundbar for music. The washer and dryer served us well, and there were ample kitchen utensils. And the price point made for a very reasonable stay. Matt was extremely responsive and helpful. Thanks.
Great communication with the owner, no issue with checkin! Owner provided a map to help find the place, which was helpful. The home is located in a semi-rural development near the park, so it can be tricky to navigate the narrow roads. There's a swing gate at the property with a combination lock on a chain, to give you an idea of the setting.
The home is located a very short drive from the entrance to the park. We got up early every day and arrived before just about anybody else, which gave us a wonderful private experience. Highly recommended, especially the Kilauea Ike trail, which had us crossing the crater itself. It was a surreal experience.
It's a woodsy house, and the area is very humid. The owner has a dehumidifier running through the day. Expect the home to be a bit cold and maybe a bit dank, because of the humidity, but it goes with the neighborhood. There's a wood burning stove and electric heaters for heating-up the home, and there's an electric blanket (mattress cover) on the bed which is quite nice.
There's bottled water to drink, which was appreciated.
Thank you for a great time in Volcano!
This great little house on the outskirts of Volcano Village feels off the beaten track and yet very close to the entry to Volcanoes National Park. Huge windows and a deck allow you to see the giant ferns and trees that surround the property. The house is well-equipped and charmingly rustic. We were fortunate to have excellent weather for our visits of the park. We definitely recommend Treehouse Cottage for anyone looking to stay in this area.
Good spot that’s very close to the national park and volcano village
We had a wonderful time. It gets cold at night in winter and having the wood burning fireplace was so nice.
Almost off-the-grid, very quiet, down a long dirt road, in a gorgeous fern forest. This is an idyllic place to get away from it all and still be very close to volcano natl park. Bring groceries. Conserve water: it's rainwater collected on the property.
