Car: necessary REVIEWS from previous VRBO site: Bernd S. Paradise in Paradise 5 of 5 We loved everything about this wonderful, light flooded house: the magnificent view, the beautiful pool, the lush green garden, plenty of bedrooms, being woken up by the sun in the master bedroom, great kitchen with everything needed for being your own chef and the generous living room with a huge full HD TV. Wifi is perfect all around the house. The location is at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac with only a 5min drive to Kailua Beach Park. The property manager was extremely responsive and supportive in every possible way. We enjoyed every moment of our marvelous stay and are looking forward to coming back some time in the future. Review Submitted: Nov 23, 2015 Date of Stay: Jul 2015 Source: HomeAway Jennifer J. Secluded Hawaii Oasis - would definitely stay again 5 of 5 Lovely property, more secluded than the usual Kailua property due to being against the hillside on a dead end street. About 15-20 minute walk to the beach 4 bedrooms, 3 with queen beds, one with a twin futon Bedrooms have A/C Main house has large kitchen with gas cooktop and electric ovens No A/C in main house but breezes are good Shared laundry with permanent tenants downstairs Pool is large and solar heated. Shallow end is about 3 1/2 feet deep so not for tiny kids. Hot tub on side deck is nice. Lots of TVs throughout house/ cable. Wifi throughout house as well; worked great. Property manager is very helpful and responsive!!! Overall property is above average for Kailua (I lived here so I know!) Short 5 minute walk to Safeway/groceries, restaurants Would definitely stay here again and recommend this home! Review Submitted: Jun 17, 2015 Date of Stay: Apr 2015 Source: HomeAway Barbara N. Attractive, spacious, private paradise 5 of 5 We had an awesome stay in your home earlier this winter! Sitting on the lanai every morning at sunrise drinking tea was a beautiful and serene way to begin each day. The ocean view allowed us to see the Mokes. The property itself was very clean, well-maintained and comfortable. The recently re-modeled kitchen was well-stocked with every implement needed to prepare a gourmet meal. We could easily walk to a nearby supermarket so we could prepare our own tasty and delicious meals at home. There were, however, many good restaurants in Kailua and in nearby Kaneohe for anyone who likes to dine out while away from home. This was our fifth visit to Kailua so we have discovered many of these on previous visits. Forget the high-rise hotels and crowded beaches in Waikiki. Kailua, a mere 20 minute ride from the airport in Honolulu, offers gorgeous white sand beaches that stretch for miles, which are relatively uncrowded. We also found great beaches at Lanikai and Waimanalo just minutes away. Because Kailua has been "discovered" with the Obama family vacationing here for the past several years, it's probably best to hit the beaches during the week, rather than weekends. But this discovery has also added many new shops and boutiques to the downtown area, which we also enjoyed. Though we loved our time on the beach, we also loved a pool workout in the front yard most days. It was especially nice since we didn't smell like stinky chlorine afterwards. Another way we spent our time was hiking in the nearby rain forests, which Dean and Jaynine will gladly tell you all about. A visit to Oahu would not be meaningful without visiting the Pearl Harbor Memorial. It was an easy drive from Kailua to this national memorial and I guarantee you will be moved. We also loved the Bishop Museum in Honolulu for providing an insight into Hawaiian culture and history. This home has a distinct "island" feel and will make you feel like you have truly had a vacation in paradise! I definitely plan to return to this property and highly recommend it. Review Submitted: Apr 2, 2015 Date of Stay: Jan 2015 Source: HomeAway Allison S. Relax surrounded by the spirit of Aloha! 5 of 5 From the moment you walk through the beautifuly hand carved wooden gate you sense you are entering a magical place. The spirit of aloha is reflected in every detail. From the tropical Birds of Paradise that surround the salt water, heated, lap pool, to the custom cabinet work in the newly renovated kitchen, you feel immersed in the island life style. The neighborhood is perfectly quiet, other than the song birds cooing, and you are surrounded by nature at every turn. Breath taking views of the ocean off the back lanai never let you forget that you are lucky enough to be on a Hawaiian Island, even if it is just for a little while. Every detail has been though through with care, allowing you to just kick back, relax and enjoy all the area has to offer. A six minute walk to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. A five minute walk to shops and is all right there, waiting to be enjoyed. I felt like I was staying at a 5 star hotel and spa all wrapped up in one package and I didn't have to share with any other guests! I loved the pool and the hot tub. Looking up at the stars at night and forgetting everything else, just for a while. This is what a vacation should be! Thanks so much Jaynine and Dean for sharing your lovely home and your spirit of aloha with our family! We will be back!!!! Review Submitted: Mar 16, 2015 Date of Stay: Jul 2014 Source: HomeAway Did you find this review helpful? 1 Yes 0 No Chris S. An oasis in Paradise! 5 of 5 The surroundings were just plain magical. Secluded, yet convenient to everything. High on a hill, last house on the street, totally private with a backdrop of lush tropical mountains and an overview of the ocean and the twin islands called the "Mokes" which are seabird sanctuaries. We found not only the setting to be tranquil, but the home and property lent itself as an adult "playground". Perfect for outdoor activities, chillin' and dining. After taking a swim in the luxurious pool surrounded by carefully tended tropical flora and fauna, we'd relax in the hot tub taking in all the marvelous scents of nature. The home itself is comfortable and equipped with every modern convenience - the kitchen is a gourmand's delight. This oasis is close to shopping, restaurants, hiking, the beach, sightseeing, and more ... We enjoyed our stay thoroughly and left for the mainland very relaxed and renewed.

Serenity......This peaceful retreat offers meticulous attention to detail and modern amenities on one acre of oceanfront property facing Mokoli'i Island (familiarly known as Chinaman's Hat) in Kaneohe Bay on the wonderful windward side of O'ahu. When you arrive, the home invites you come in and bask in the Aloha spirit, even as the sea beckons you down to the shore to rest at the 'aekai, admire the tropical foliage, and watch the moon rise over the placid ocean. You will sleep deeply in the queen-size bed, wake at first light to meander the manicured grounds, perhaps lingering by the water lily pond....as the sun hovers over the horizon and silently but surely rises. Savor a cup of Kona coffee or coconut chai as the shama birds serenade you with their unique and delightful song, as another lovely Hawaiian day unfolds...... The day holds treasures yet undiscovered. Whether it is swimming, snorkeling, beachcombing, horseback riding, ATV riding, hiking, shopping, exploring every nook and cranny of the island, taking in her unparalleled beauty....or, of course, sampling from O'ahu's diverse and delicious eateries....you are in a convenient location from which to launch the day's activities. The home is a 625-foot studio comprised of a comfortable living area, kitchen and eating area, separate sleeping area (not quite a room, but partitioned), and a full, modern bathroom. A sofa with an extended cushion on one end for lounging pulls out to a full-size sleeper, and a 51" HD Smart TV is cable-connected for relaxed viewing. Free Wi-Fi is also included. A modern kitchen appointed with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, coffee maker, blender, rice cooker, flatware, cookware, and dishes also provides a spacious area with table and chairs for dining. The separate sleeping area is furnished with a comfy queen-size bed, and the full bathroom has granite countertops and a tub/shower combination with granite surround, as well as a stacking washer and dryer (no searching for/wasting time at a laundromat!). Fresh, soft linens and towels (including beach towels) are included. Rich, cool hardwood flooring throughout, tile flooring in the bathroom, crown molding, and quality fixtures express pride in workmanship and ownership and comfort you just as if you lived here. Cook up your favorites or new island delicacies inside or outside on the barbeque grill located in a separate area outdoors (close to your entrance). Dine indoors or al fresco at the table and chairs which overlook the grounds and the ocean.....gorgeous views any time of day or night! The home's windows are completely screened so you may leave them open to enjoy the soft trade breezes, and the home is also air-conditioned (split zones) for your complete comfort. Parking for your one vehicle is right outside your door. So come on in......e komo mai.....welcome! I comply with all Hawaii tax regulations. Hawaii Tax ID#: W00019818-01

  • Peacock House at Hakipuu

The guesthouse is located on our family property, in the small special area known as Hakipu’u. We live in another home on the property, which includes our 2 acre flower and goldfish farm, RainGarden Ornamentals. Walk down the lush garden path to look out at Chinaman’s Hat and Kaneohe Bay from our private beachfront. From the house you look out through trees and tropical landscape. The property is a bird lovers dream; we have two peacocks (pikake), guinea hens, ducks and other assorted feathered friends that roam the farm . Songbirds call, especially in the morning from nearby Monkeypod trees and a few jungle fowl roosters will most likely crow too. My favorite song is that of the shama trush, they will often perch nearby as if they are curious about you. Our beachfront is not the best swimming beach but you can paddle out 5 minutes to a lovely sandy beach that provides a nice walk past “Secret Island” to Kualoa Beach Park. There is a flat bottom canoe at our beach for your use as well as two stand-up boards. The main reef is approximately 1 mile out providing a very large safe area for exploring. You can even paddle out to Chinaman’s Hat and hike to the top of the Island or enjoy snorkeling at patches of coral reef inside the Bay. The single-family plantation home was built in the 1940's-my husband and I have enjoyed restoring and updating the house. The bedroom has a king size bed and large folding chair/chaise. In the side room, there is a large twin daybed (this can be used as a guest bed), dining table and large screen TV. The kitchen is open into the living room area which has lovely views of the garden. All the furniture was chosen with style as well as RELAXATION in mind. The kitchen is well equipped, but if you don't feel like cooking there are a few restaurants and lunch wagons nearby. Just down the road is 'Waikane Store' with homemade local snacks and a few basic groceries, 'Waiahole Poi Factory' serves Hawaiian Plate Lunch, or at Kahaulu’u is 'Mike’s' HuliHuli chicken - you can even purchase as 'take-out' a whole chicken or other main courses for your dinner, or there is a food van selling Thai food too; Uncle Bobo's is a very casual restaurant just north in Ka'a'awa with very good food. The house has one bathroom with an antique cast iron tub. There is an outdoor hot water shower, next to the house, which is perfect for when you come up from the beach and even gazing up at the stars at night. The backyard is lush with various gardens, flower production areas and goldfish ponds. We will be happy to give you a tour of our production areas during your visit. It is the tropics, so we can have mosquitos (repellant provided) and you might see a few geckos (considered good luck by most)...if these things make you shutter, probably not the best location for you. Down at the beachfront is a covered structure with porch furniture, sink and gas grill…a great spot to enjoy the views, unwind and enjoy a cold drink or meal. Upon arrival you will find an arrangement of fresh tropical flowers from our farm. Also wanting to 'show off' some other Hawaiian grown products; you will find an array of locally grown fruits, coffee, sugar and even North Shore grown chocolate to greet you. We look forward to welcoming you to our guesthouse, 'E komo mai'!
