Lyon Arboretum
Today I went to the Lyon Arboretum, a botanical garden in a rainforest in Manoa Valley. It is located at the entrance to the popular Manoa Falls trail. Most people hike the Manoa Falls trail and overlook the arboretum. It is a nice garden and definitely worth a visit. It's not like the typical botanical garden. There are many trails within the garden and going through it is more like a hike rather than a garden stroll.
At the garden entrance you see signs that visitors first have to check in at the Visitors Center. Even though there is no admission fee, once you check in you will be asked for a donation of $5 per person. At check-in you will receive a map of the garden that shows the various trails. The arboretum is owned and operated by the University of Hawaii. It is a good idea to bring an umbrella even if the weather looks fine in town. Here in Manoa Valley the weather changes frequently and since this is in a rainforest it rains often. Today the rain was on and off, but luckily, the sun came out as well. There were many mosquitoes so it's good to either wear long pants or bring mosquito repellent.

RE: Lyon Arboretum
This looks live a very pretty place to visit. We really enjoy the fauna and flora. The hike part is probably a bit beyond our abilities anymore so thanks for sharing the pictoral version for us.
