This property is beautifully maintained inside and out. Every amenity that you can think of is available. It is obvious they put a lot of thought and attention to the comfort of guests. The kitchen is perfect, well organized, with everything one needs to cook any meal. The lanai furniture is comfortable, a lovely space for watching birds, relaxing, outdoor dining. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would return to this lovely place.
I can not say enough good things about this house! The photos do not do it justice. It is so beautiful with so many unique decorative touches and the tropical yard with the bird feeder and bird food provided was so peaceful that we took a morning off to catch up on rest and just enjoyed being there. We stargazed and listened to the sounds of the rainforest at night, especially the frogs. The pheasants and little yellow birds at the feeder in the morning provided a perfect backdrop for coffee and banana bread. The laundry room was much appreciated and everything was super clean and organized. The kitchen is awesome and well stocked. For us this house was a destination in and of its self, like staying in a little lodge resort bit all to ourselves! Host was attentive and communicative. We want to come back to specifically stay in this home it was that special for us.
This was a beautiful property with a lot of amenities. That part of the stay was amazing. Fully stocked kitchen. The things that bothered us were : cameras on property not disclosed ( exterior) the host said they were " fake" but it was hard to believe that and be comfortable after knowing this. Privacy is a huge thing for us. Also , the beds and couch and showers could use updating. Just my honest feedback
We stayed at the property for two nights. Its proximity to the national park can't be beat. The house was comfortable and provided all the amenities my family needed.
The home was perfect - exactly as described and better than expected! The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, pots, pans, and everything we needed to clean up as well. There was even a cooler available for us to bring a packed lunch into the national park! It really felt like home, not just a sterile rental. The beds were incredibly comfortable - we all slept so well in the cool weather and appreciated the cozy bedding. Mahalo for your hospitality!
The kids especially loved it! The place had everything we could possibly need, and was in a perfect location for exploring Volcano!
Very clean,perfect for our family
brief but cozy....we really enjoyed its vibe.
Beautiful home! Loved the sunrises and feeding the birds each morning. Enough room for a family of 5 and very close to Volcano National Park! Communication was fantastic! Highly recommended.
We absolutely loved our time in Volcano National Park, and completely loved waking up in and coming home to this beautiful house and lush green yard. It was fun drinking morning coffee on the lanai while cuddled up in the papasan. The birds would come and feed, and the family of Kalij Pheasants ran around the yard and fluttered up on the railing. It was really nice having 3 bedrooms to spread out my older kids. This was just such a beautiful and very comfortable place to stay in. Our aim was to be close to the park (and I was especially grateful for this location when I saw on line that Kilauea was erupting with her next episode! It was my #1 hope to get to see! The road got busy fast so it was nice to be close!). Thanks so much, gorgeous home.
This cute house is perfectly located to visit Volcanoes National Park! Very cozy with a nice front porch to enjoy morning coffee or meals. We loved seeing the birds that visited the bird feeder on the porch and my son had fun feeding a pheasant that visited with the bird seed provided. The home was well stocked and appointed and we really appreciated the Kona coffee. Be aware that the town of Volcano has no grocery stores and only a two very tiny gas station convenience markets. No eggs were available anywhere so we wished we had gotten groceries in Hilo ahead of time since it’s a 40 minute drive from the house. Fortunately there were a couple of good restaurants in Volcano and we enjoyed lunch at Volcano House in the Park. I’d definitely stay here again in the future.
We were Lava tracking...close enough to the Park to be there in under 5 minutes yet far enough away to escape the crowds. Very quiet neighborhood. Amazing birds right in the yard. I hope to stay here again, it fit our family needs perfectly. Thank you.
Beautiful property - we loved it!!!!
Worked well for a family of 6. Very peaceful and close to the park. Lots of bird visitors.
This property is immaculate. The gardens are pristine and well maintained. The yard is huge and a great place for toddlers to roam around. The inside of house had everything for our stay. The host has thought of everything from coolers, to board games, to toys for kids. Who would have ever thought coming to Hawaii would require the use of a heater at night? But they had us covered. I will definitely look to book this house again!
This house was perfect for our family. It was easy to access and very clean. It really felt like they put time and effort into including things we would need/enjoy! Our kids enjoyed the board games. Highly recommend!
Well stocked, clean, beautiful surroundings. We would definitely stay here again. Well decorated and enjoyed reading the books about Hawaii.
We wish we stayed a few more days. Cathy & Jeff's rental was comfortable- one of those rentals where they pay attention to details to ensure a comfortable and memorable stay. Stocked bathrooms and kitchen, clean laundry machines, plenty of towels... everything was just great. Thank you so much!
Our family of 5 stayed at this beautiful Volcano home for 3 nights. It is minutes away from Volcano National Park, which allowed for several trips to the park during the day and night. We prepared several meals in the home and found everything we needed. We appreciated the binder of resources and information, and definitely appreciated the space heaters for the colder January nights. We chose not to use the wood stove but it would’ve been lovely. Our 3 children had plenty of space and we enjoyed walking the streets in the mornings.
Enjoyed everything your amazing place had to offer. Such a relaxing and tranquil setting. Already looking forward to another stay at Tree Fern Escape.
We were very happy with the place, house was conveniently located, easy to find. Very well equipped with everything you may possibly need. Super cozy with the fire place for colder nights. We enjoyed the stay to the max. Definitely would come back to this magical Fern Forest place.
Lovely 2 nights stay. Perfect location to explore volcanoes. House is in a quiet area, surrounded by nature and very nicely equiped and furnished. Thank you for everything!
Our group is a married couple with 2 teens. This house was really nice for all of us to have our own space but also spaces to hang out and eat together. The location was great for visiting the National Park. We also visited the northwest coast area up to Waipi’o look out. It was a long drive but not worth switching locations for us, the house was only about 45 minutes south of Hilo. Our 17 year old is a runner and he found plenty of places to run and felt safe. The house is surrounded by nature and the sounds of nature.
We came to this part of the island for a couple of nights to give us more time at Volcano National Park. This rental was clean, cozy, well stocked and reasonably priced. We hiked A LOT and the rental was cozy & comfy after a day of damp hiking. We didn’t cook here at all, but it is very well stocked with plates, utensils, small appliances (like a crock pot) and a coffee maker. Light switches were labeled and made life easier. Wish we lived closer so we could enjoy this rental again. If we ever find ourselves on the Big island again, we will be back!
Wonderful hosts and a beautiful property with incredibly easy access to Volcano National Park. Well worth the stay - thanks again!
Very relaxing place and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.
There are 3 pheasants that come by each day and they are tame looking for handouts.
The wood stove has a door gasket that needs to be fixed so we didn't start a fire and the place does cool down in the evenings but a single space heater was plenty to keep it cozy and there are space heaters for every room.
Overall really enjoyed it!
My husband and I have stayed in many vacation rentals in Volcanoes - many great, some not so great. This 3 bed, 2 bath home was new to us and fit our needs to a T!. We had another couple with us and the 2 bathrooms afforded privacy as well as the master on one side and the 2 other bedrooms on the other. Loved the kitchen and wood stove (which warmed up the living area very nicely). The front lanai was spacious, and had a bird feeder and feed which we enjoyed. Cleanliness is a high priority for us and this cabin was well cared for and clean and the yard well maintained. We went for dinner one night at KMC to see how the menu had changed. Reasonable prices and reasonable food. Also played golf one day which was a pretty rainy experience that we enjoyed anyway!! We had a question about lights and contacted the Manager who got back to us right away and resolved the issue for us. These managers are really nice to work with. All in all, we will add this cabin to our Favorites List! Mahalo!
Of the 6 lodgings we stayed in on Hawaii and Oahu, this was my favorite. An incredibly charming cottage that was very thoughtfully renovated: great kitchen, lanai, laundry, carport - and stocked with emergency canned and frozen food (bcz everything closes late, including the closest food store). Gracious, new, clean and charming. Pricey, but the condition warrants it (if ur a neat freak like us). And not a single bug in the property, which surprised me because its in rain forest.
