We researched the family, and imagined what it would have been like to gather on the wide porch, or around the dining table 100 years ago. Plenty of space to spead out or spend time together. The views are amazing.

This was my ohana’s second time staying at this beautiful plantation house on Pakala Bay in Kauai. There was a total of 11 of us (we paid the extra person charges) and we returned here because we were able to fit very comfortably in this house. In September the mornings were cool, the afternoons and evenings were warm. This is your typical old beautiful plantation house with no air conditioning and we did use 100% of the fans provided in the evening to try to cool down to sleep. The kitchen is large with all you need to make family meals. We enjoyed a family meal together every evening on the beautiful dining room. Again, the room. The dining table sat all of us comfortably. Pakala beach is just across the lawn with a popular surf break. We were able to watch surfers every day and we enjoyed the ocean as well. The house did have plenty of beach items available including chairs and umbrellas but no surf boards. Many memories have been made in this vacation rental. I hope to come back again with my ohana.

Amazing property and stay! Beautiful views and lovely beach. The house is large and equipped with several beds and bathrooms. Kitchen was well stocked with all the essential pots, pans, plates, and cups of all kinds. Plenty of fridge space with 2 available. Patio furniture and beach chairs allow for wonderful morning views of surfers and evening sunsets. Easy access to beach. Completely satisfied.

Always the most amazing stay on Kauai!!! We loved spring for a change up! The house keeping was amazing & hpuse was very clean!
Could not have asked for a better location to rest, relax, swim, enjoy cooking and eating together. Old school vacation - time together !! We had multiple cars which enabled everyone to explore according to their own timetable and interests. Was a good plan, as most activities were at least 15 mins away. Salt pond beach is a hidden gem for snorkeling.
Great place and location photos and description very accurate. Was a bit warm but house had multiple fans to use. Chicken loved waking us up in time to start our day. Pretty much a private beach to ourselves. Highly recommended and will stay again.

We were awestruck by the night sky: there were more stars visible than I ever imagined and so bright! Loved the house also. It was private with beach view and access. It was large and had great character, we would have to stay another week to really know the house as we kept discovering new things until we left. We have wonderful memories of hanging out on the late covered porch enjoying the breeze and the birds of ocean and mountains. The heat with no AC was a change for us, but there were many fans and the house is designed to use the ocean breeze for cooling.
The property was exactly as described online and the property management company was wonderful to work with. They did everything to accommodate our group and were very friendly. We absolutely loved our time at Pakala Plantation and highly recommend this property.

We stayed for a week in April for a calm, quiet getaway at the estate. We were incredibly impressed by the historical significance, impeccable grounds, and quirky, spacious building. The true star of the property was the walking-distance proximity to the virtually private beach. There are amazing gardens to explore on the property, in addition to dozens of chickens. The one downside we experienced on several days was a significant bug issue. Certainly, the tropics should be expected to have mosquitoes, etc, but the volume of gnats was significant, day and night, likely due to the fruit trees. The property would benefit from a bug-zapper or having fly paper available for guests.
The most beautiful and best place to stay on the island. Many locals will let you know once they know you’re staying there that you are on a prized location. We caught fish from the bank every single day, the turtles fed in front of us every single day. You’ll sit on the porch every morning watching the surfers and you’ll find yourself taking surf lesson soon after. Such an amazing experience and opoa is the best to deal with. Can’t thank they’re family enough for everything!
