We had the most magical week at this lovely home in Poipu, Kauai. The area is wonderful, the home is part of a lovely community mixed with full time residents, snowbirds and vacationing families. The community is a mix of single-family homes like Sonya's condos and a larger resort. We loved walking down to the pool each day which we often had to ourselves and spent time on the beach each day as well. Our favorite beaches were Brenneke's and Poipu which were less than 10 minutes from the front door (bringing all the beach equipment that was so thoughtfully provided. The house had everything we needed- we were a group of four- my two daughters and my father in his 80s so the layout of the bedrooms were perfect. The living room area was great for taking a break in the afternoons from the sun, and we made most meals in the home eating dinners each night on the back lanai. The privacy of the home was lovely and we heard very little from neighbors and zero traffic sounds. The ventilation system in the house worked amazingly well and I loved waking up to the sounds of birds and the breeze flowing through the bedroom. This home is a wonderful base camp for time in Kauai and we look forward to returning,

The house was perfect for our two families that shared it. Had all the basics we needed for the week including beach wagon, boogie boards and snorkel gear. The plumeria tree in the backyard was an added bonus amongst the gorgeous palm trees. The lanai was the perfect place to start and end every day. The Hawaiian air conditioning (open air) design of the home made it feel like a true island retreat. The location was fantastic. We easily walked to Brennecke and Poipu beaches as well as some of the local area restaurants. Sonya is an amazing host and appreciate her willingness to help us when we had questions or needed assistance. Mahalo for a wonderful and memorable stay on the great island of Kauai!

We stayed at this home for a week and had a wonderful time! We were able to walk to the Grand Hyatt and Poipu beach very easily. The house was perfect for us (traveling with an 18 month old) and was well equipped for kids. One thing we did not read was the house does not have AC. It was quite warm when we initially got there but there are fans and all the windows open. The backyard was nice and we sat outside often.

The location of this property is amazing! Within walking distance of many beaches. The wagon was a life saver! The property fit our large family well and we weren’t on top of each other in the least. We used the grill about every night! There were plenty of things in the kitchen for us to use to make meals. LOTS of things to make a stay with a toddler very comfortable- a potty seat, toys, a booster seat, a pack and play, a “floor bed”. The host was very responsive to a few questions we had about the home and so helpful! For the price, it was perfect. Many homes in the area are quite a bit more! A true gem and a great find for a great stay.

Poipu Kai is a great location when visiting Kauai. This home has three bedrooms which is great for 1-2 families. Plenty of beds, futons and porta-cribs for littles. Overhead fans but NO A/C which is a big drawback during summer months. It gets quite hot and takes a long time to cool down, especially if there's not much of an evening breeze. Would be helpful if there were black out curtains on all windows to keep the heat out and additional fans as the overhead fan in of the bedrooms was not very strong. Nice lanai, grill and coolers to use during the day and beach stuff (boogies boards), chairs (one was broken). As mentioned by others, internet does not work in bedrooms. Pool was nice and it's within walking distance to Poipu beach (which is great).

Great location. The kids loved the daily wagon rides to Shipwreck Beach. Was a chill few days in a nice house. The house gets a little stuffy when it’s hot during the day so the more air flow you get going the better. Not super important but I think a remote might be missing for the living room TV (couldn’t figure out how to go “back”). All in all a great trip. Would stay again.

Pros:
-Great location in Poipu walkable to Poipu beach & shipwreck beach (Grand Hyatt).
-You can tell it is dated from the photos, but I actually found it was better in-person than in the photos. But significant updates
-Well stocked a ton of kitchen items, beach items, etc. Nothing is in good shape, but worked fine.
-The house is large and comfortable, plenty of room for 2 families (4 adults + 2 kids)
Cons:
-My main annoyance was the wifi only worked in the living room and not in the bedrooms.
-There is a TV remote missing in the main living room.
-Couldn't get the TV to work in the bedroom at all. Would be great if they would invest in a master remote or something to make the TVs easier to use particularly in the living room
-The information was outdated in the info packet for example the first 4 restaurants I looked up that were recommended were all closed (an info packet is just a nice to have and not a necessity, but thought I would mention as it fits the theme of the house that it's just not well maintained)
-It was in the high 60s so not too hot, using fans, ceiling fans, and the outdoor window vents did cool down the house but I'd be worried if it was much hotter was still a little stuffy

It was the perfect place for our family. The description was accurate to a point because I somehow missed that this house is in the perfect location for everything. Poipu and all the beaches around it are a short walk away with turtles and seals and waves and snorkeling and Puka dogs (go there!). The other direction is Hyatt beaches with sand and lava rocks and views and hikes and it’s all connected by a great trail system.
The house was big, quiet and great for a family. No air conditioning but you only notice in the afternoon for a little bit. Just open all the windows and vents and it’s great OR be outside in the afternoon and you don’t even know.
Beds were great, plenty of beach stuff to borrow and lots of lounging areas after a long day at the beach. We loved our stay and the host and house were great. Easily recommend.

This property is in a good location with easy access to many beaches and restaurants nearby. It does however need some TLC. The master bath shower does not drain, as well as the sinks in the main bathroom. The towels definitely need an upgrade and there are not enough of them. The patio area was filthy when we arrived, we spent our first night cleaning it. Also, the backyard pictures in the listing depicts a decent grassy space, however there is very small area of grass and dirt. Overall it is very dated and needs some love.

Overall the house was great. Some stuff needs to be updated or fixed. A screen door was broken. The beach umbrella was broken, needs a new cooler.
