The property is exactly as advertised. Susan was amazing with communication and all the little extras she had for us. Like beach chairs, water noodles, snorkeling gear, beach toys there was a lot to choose from. I highly recommend this place if you are traveling with 4-8 people.
Great stay and just what we needed. Our family took advantage of the two beaches, two swimming pools and two hot tubs daily! We also played tennis and used the fitness room. We loved being able to play spike ball on the beach thanks to the homeowners providing games and supplies. As for the condo, we all had our own space, including all of the balcony options! The common area open concept was great for family time, not to mention unlimited access to the ocean view. Fabulous space.
The property was amazing! Everything we could have hoped for! Beautiful views! Easy access to two beaches, pool and hot tub. Fully stocked kitchen and a great assortment of items for the beach. The owners thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and stress free. Communication was great. Would highly recommend staying here.
always wanted to stay in South Maui this place was stunning. The condo was outfit fitted with absolutely everything you need for the beach. There were 6 feet chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear, Floaties, beach toys. inside the condo was fully equipped as well. We love the beautiful view and the beach on either side of the condo was so perfect for our grandkids. Susan was super fast answering questions. loved this place.
This condo located in Makena Surf in Makena Maui has gorgeous views, and beautiful artwork and furniture. Makena Surf itself is beautifully landscaped with two pools, tennis courts, and two lovely beaches. The condo has a gorgeous view of the ocean and we were able to watch whales and even dolphins and turtles while sitting on one of the two lanais. The master bathroom even has a view of the ocean visible while showering. The owner was very welcoming and responsive to questions! Wonderful relaxing stay!
Mekena Surf is a beautiful property. The beach is perfect for children. Sunsan's unit is second to none. We'll be back!!!
Another amazing vacation in this incredible condo.Unbelievable privacy. Leave the hordes of tourists behind. The moment you walk in to the great room and see the expensive lanai, you are surrounded by seemingly endless ocean views. The guard gate protects the parking lot, so there is ample parking. The natural lava outcropping protects the grounds from hordes of tourists lying in the grass out front as all beaches are public beaches in Maui. Unbelievable amenities. The owner, Susan, is an amazing host. Her communication skills are absolute perfection. She has stocked her condo with so many amenities that go above and beyond any condo we have ever rented previously through our many years of returning to Maui.We have only one regret. We wish we would’ve found Susan and her amazing ocean front condo years earlier. So with that, we wish to thank Susan from our hearts for allowing us to stay in her special beautiful condo once again. Aloha.
We had a wonderful stay at this property! The location is fantastic and the ocean views are incredible. The check in and booking process was simple and the communication from the property owner was great. We will definitely stay here again!
Great location! Unit is close to parking, office, pool and beach. The view is amazing! Clean, well stocked, and lots of extras included. 5 adults and 1 teenager and we had plenty of room. Thank you Susan for great accommodations and memories!
Our stay was nothing short of amazing. The views were unbelievable. One of the best equipped and comfortable places we have ever stayed. The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed playing pickleball (they have open play on Tuesdays and Thursdays). The beaches were close and easy to get to. Snorkeling, paddle boarding and boogie boarding were steps away. Will definitely come back. Thank you for sharing your amazing place.
Despite the high price of this unit, this could have been the place we came back to regularly. Upon walking in the view is stunning and captivating, the decor appears appealing and you are excited to be here. It’s a few days in when you realize that the amenities are either overly tired or cheap…not what you expect in a high end rental.
The Master bed/mattress is acceptable, but not fantastic. The second master bed is awful and creaks with every movement. There is no headboard, so reading in bed is difficult. The twin beds have firm and I’m guessing newer mattresses.
The outdoor furniture, particularly in the back patio is atrocious. I realize that oceanfront/tropical climates are hard on furniture, but when the seats are torn, it really is time to upgrade.
The kitchen amenities grade a C+. Not terrible, not great with the exception of the coffee maker that spills every time you pour water or coffee.
As a vacation rental in Hawaii, it’s probably pretty typical, but I was expecting exceptional. We love Makena and the complex here, but will move on to a different and less expensive unit in future, where our expectations match the stay
This condo is so special it’s hard to put into words to acutely describe how amazing it is. The outdoor space is outstanding both during the day and for stunning sunsets. Two perfect beaches are minutes away and the snorkeling is incredible. The condo is so well appointed and stocked with everything you need and communication with the owner is quick and easy. We plan to return as quickly as we can!!
The condo itself is truly stunning. The attention to detail and the level of appointments were exceptional. It was evident that great care had been taken to ensure the condo was well-appointed and provided all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The cleanliness of the space was also noteworthy, as it contributed to a pleasant and hygienic environment.
Additionally, the location of the condo was absolutely amazing. We were delighted to find ourselves in such a convenient and picturesque area. It allowed us to easily explore and enjoy all that Maui has to offer. The proximity to attractions, restaurants, and beautiful beaches truly enhanced our vacation.
Fantastic unit, and a wonderful location. We loved the access to excellent snorkeling right out front, and the fabulous pool (pictures didn’t do it justice because it was amazing). The complex was very quiet and peaceful but close enough to Kihei for shops, etc. The condo had excellent amenities and views. We would definitely come back.

After a long day of travel and a trip to Costco- we walked into the condo and our jaws dropped. Of course we had seen the pictures, but the real thing is so much better. The view is stunning, and the proximity to two beaches (and all the equipment available!) was the best! We had so much fun, the snorkeling is unbelievable and the condo itself is perfect. We had a family of 6 adults and we had plenty of space to hang out. We were so incredibly sad when the time came to leave. We highly recommend this property!
Just wrapped up 7 nights in the amazing condo. We were an extended family of 6 visiting from Melbourne, Australia and Manhattan, NY. Age range 3-72 and this was the perfect layout/amenity/location for our family. We started our vacation off at a full amenity resort with water slides etc and the kids (ages 3 and 6) preferred this condo.
The condo's decor and condition is pristine and includes everything you may need. The views and two lanais by far the highlight. We traveled all over the island and were always happy to come "home" to Makena. No sight was more than 1.5hr drive away and many were closer. The complex was very quiet at night.
The kitchen is fully stocked in regards to plates and cooking supplies; my advice is to arrange grocery delivery through Safeway or Instacart before check in if possible, we arrived late and there is no easy local grab and go food.
We didn't need to message the manager during the entire stay, only hiccup was being confused at check in on how to get by the gated entrance but was solved quickly by calling security; once you check in there are gate cards to keep in your vehicle.
This was our 4th weekly VRBO Hawaiian rental since 2018 and was the best. You will not be disappointed.

Total relaxation immersion the moment you step into Susan’s Makena Surf Condo. The expansive lanai direct ocean view is breathtaking as we enjoyed sipping a tropical drink watching humpback whales and spectacular sunsets. The interior design that Susan chose places you immediately into vacation bliss. The kitchen is extremely well-appointed with everything you may need and high end appliances. The Makena Surf grounds are amazing as if you are visiting a botanical garden. The incredible non-crowded sandy beach has easy walk-in ocean access and is just a short walk away. There is ample parking. Just a few minutes away by car are so many fabulous restaurants in Wailea and Kihei including Spago by Wolfgang Puck, Morimotos or the more casual Monkey Pod to name just a few. Finally Susan is the BEST communicator ever for any questions about our stay. We had a 5 star vacation thanks to this 5 star condo. We have already booked again. Mahalo.
The Unit. Very spacious. Living and Dining areas were large, especially for a condo. Third floor high ceilings added to the spacious feel. The unit was located just perfectly on the corner of the building. Great views to the South and West. Sunsets and whales every day. Great beach access to two beaches (one nice sandy beach, one rocky). Both pretty secluded.
The Development. The best for sure. Very close to the shopping/restaurants of Wailea, but away from all the crowds. And the snorkeling is great here, right off the beach area. And a number of snorkeling areas very close as well.
The owner. Very accommodating and great communication, before and during our stay.
Overall. I can not think of a better place to stay in Maui. Close to everything but private. Will be back !!
This condo is a hidden gem. Quiet corner location. Large windows all rooms overlooking ocean. Sunset everyday from balconies. Outdoors feels like built in a tropical garden. Family canceled whale watching trip due to views. Very nice pool and beaches and ample parking. So good my adult daughters said they would vacation with us again!

This condo was the best place we have ever stayed (and this includes the Four Seasons down the street)! The communication with the owner/property manager was fantastic! The condo was even better in person than in the pictures! The snorkeling was amazing right on property. We could watch whales from the lanai (and from the shower)! The location is wonderful! The owner provides so many things - you really just didn't have to think about anything! If I could give 6 stars - I would! Our family loved it so much!
