Disappointed unfortunately. We were not told up front of the issues of this unit. A sliding door to our ocean view wouldn't open from corrosion, portable loud AC's because central air was broken and a shower door that wouldn't open or close. Unit felt dated and not clean. Future guests deserve better, and problems of this magnitude should be disclosed up front. Our issues were not resolved with Casago management during our stay and disheartening when expectations are not met. A positive note it's locally perfect for walking to the town of Kona and experience the shops and being on the ocean. We stayed at Hale Kona Kai many times years ago and it was great, but needs a lot of TLC now. Sincerely, Dan & Caren

Great location, excellent view, well equipped kitchen, and some very pleasant extra amenities. But the place is very poorly maintained. Rust and corrosion everywhere. Mold in window tracks. The shade on the balcony didn't work - rusted. The warming plate on the coffee maker had a thick layer of rust. Chrome kitchen and bathroom fixtures pitted with corrosion. Little rust spots almost everywhere you looked.Clean? Well maybe. But it certainly didn't look like it.
This is our fourth visit to this property. My husband and I love the oceanfront lanai and that the bedroom also is on the ocean side so we can hear the ocean all night with the window open. Very conveniently located to walk to restaurants and stores in Kona. The assigned parking space at the property is also ideal for us. Looking forward to our next visit!
PRO: Couldn’t get more “ocean front”. A short walk into Kona town. CON: Needs some love. Shower door wouldn’t move, which according to previous reviews was reported as an issue 6 months prior. There was a strong smell of chemical bug spray.
Everything about the property was spot on as advertised. Very clean and awesome view...right on the beach!! The one and only thing was the a/c was out. We were notified before we arrived. Nothing could be done due to parts being unavailable. There was a free standing a/c unit put in the bedroom. It was very comfortable, not hot at all, kinda noisy though. Other than the a/c being out, everything was great! Definitely a repeat visit whenever we're over there again. Location is handy to everything that you'd want...shopping, dining, etc. The host discounted our rate by 20% due to the a/c being out. Very kind gesture.
We loved hearing the ocean waves from the condo and seeing the colorful fish and a few sea turtles in the water below. It was great to be close to great restaurants, coffee and shopping, and we found some great beaches 30 min or less in both directions. A great location!

The location and view were absolutely stunning! I loved listening to the waves every night. I would definitely come back again. There were two problems. 1) The listing said it had air conditioning. This was not true. There was no central air. There was what looked like a portable air conditioning unit in the closet but there was no mention of this in the listing. I picked this unit because it stated they had ac.2) The shower doors were stuck and could not be moved. If you are larger than a size 10 you could not fit into the shower. The first day we were there we notified Casago of these issues but no one called us back. Despite these issues we would definitely pick this place again as the location and view cannot be beat.
The best view in the area, ocean edge views and sunsets, just made our stay perfect, also dedicated parking sure makes it easier when you return late.
this was the perfect place to “hideout” from the hustle and bustle of the island. Clean, modern. And quiet. Everything we needed. Great property.
We have stayed at this building 5 times and plan on more.
We loved our stay at Hale Kona Kai. It's a small property that never felt crowded. The only noise was the sound of the ocean. The location couldn't be better. It's a short walk to our favorite restaurants (and coffee shop) in Kailua. It's also literally, right on the ocean. The ocean below was full of colorful fish, the view was expansive and the sunsets were incredible. The pool was newly refurbished and wonderful. It's not huge, but it was never crowded and offered a good amount of shade. It was sparkling clean and the perfect temperature.
The less-than-ideal things were that there was no in-room laundry. Each floor has a laundry room, it costs $4 to wash and dry a load. The other was that the office is mostly unattended (open a few hours a day on weekdays) and they can be hard to reach by phone. It didn't cause problems for us, but it might for some. They did give us a very thoughtful gift/momento as an anniversary present which we very much appreciated.
All in all, we loved our stay and would stay there again. The location, view, and pool were perfect.
This is a great, 4th floor unit at Hale Kona Kai. You feel like you're on the prow of a ship- the sea is right there. We enjoyed watching the yellow tang and honu bob in the surf below as we sipped our morning cuppa on the lanai. The unit itself was clean and had most everything we needed. The local property manager was also a great help when the hubs accidentally locked the keys in the unit. And- we love the location, an easy 5 min walk to the shops and restaurants in town.
This hidden gem location in Kona has the best water view, condo conveniences, and easy walking distance to Kona Village area for shopping, restaurants and activities. It is not a new property but the unit is clean, well kept, the kitchen has all the amenities you would need, and the best balcony location of the complex. You literally are enjoying the view, sound of the ocean and gorgeous sunsets on the balcony because this unit sits right at the shoreline. The balcony is a nice size and somewhat private from most of the complex because of its location on the property. This unit also had a king sized bed which was a plus for us. There is a nice pool which was being refinished while we stayed and laundry facilities on each floor of the complex which was a great convenience since we stayed a week at this location. Check in was super easy and the communication was efficient, thorough and detailed prior to and actually during our stay. We will be staying here again! This unit is a hidden gem for value and location.
The property was truly fantastic place to stay & enjoy the view. Looking forward to staying there again soon.
