Nicely furnished kitchen and resort with
Nice location, easy access to honalei and poipu side of the island. Property manager responded quickly to any questions as did Host. Which I appreciate.Ill be completely honest while it had the most amazing view the unit itself felt muggy and very hot consistently even with the winds blowing. I spent a lot of time at my sisters because the other unit she stayed in had a nice AC unit. while it was disclosed that my unit had no ac unit “Also, this unit does not have air conditioning. While some visitors prefer AC, we have never found it necessary because of the East Trade Winds and the fact that we have pedestal fans and ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom. If you are someone who feels that they need AC, then we would suggest you look at other units.Opening the slider in the front and the bedroom windows will generally create plenty of breeze and makes the unit very comfortable.” I assumed there would be nice winds but it was mostly hot muggy wind. I think air conditioning would be a great thing to add to this unit to give it added comfort for guests.
The property manager was very responsive and quick to come and replace a nonfunctioning TV for us. The location on this VRBO is outstanding. However, not having functioning air conditioning was a bigger deal than we anticipated. I thought, ocean breezes sound great! I had not thought through the fact that this means the door and windows needed to stay open at all times or it gets stifling hot. The problem with this is it also allows the rain in that occurred almost nightly, and everything feels damp and musty continuously. Also, the bedroom faces a common walkway, and the only way to allow the air flow to come through is to keep the curtains in front of the screens open. However, this means anyone walking past your room can see into your bedroom. There are fans available in the apartment, but without the door to the lanai and the windows open, they don’t provide much relief.
Hearing the Ocean made it a dream while falling asleep! Watching the Sunrise was so incredible also!
My wife and I stayed at the Pono Kai resort for our honeymoon several years ago in a different unit and loved our stay. We decided to come back and upgrade to an oceanfront unit this time. The location of this unit is amazing - sitting out on the deck with the ocean-front view everyday was so lovely, and the ocean-breeze kept the unit from getting stuffy in the afternoon, no AC needed. Overall, the unit is comfortable (great bed), but a few details dragged down the experience. First, the bathroom sink was not draining upon our arrival. I had to clean (de-clog) the drain to get it working, which looked like it hasn't been cleaned in over a year (yuck). The carpet in the unit seems to be the original probably from the 90s and was also a bit gross, not sure carpet is a good material to use in general for humid island conditions. Other little details like cracked and peeling kitchen cabinets that had been taped up with painters tape and other poor quality fixes throughout the unit detracted from the experience. I hope the owner will address these issues for the sake of future renter's stay.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Pono Kai. It’s the first time we’ve stayed there in Kapaa. Location was great and check in and check out was relatively simple
Everything was good, clean and well stocked and comfortable. The unit could use some maintenance, one of the cabinets in the kitchen has tape holding on the veneer on one of the doors, the sliding glass door was hard to open and close. Even with these things we would definitely stay here again.
We totally enjoyed the ocean front views. It was very relaxing to hear the surf. The condo and property are very clean, but dated. We did have a few ants
We just got home from a wonderful stay in Kauai. The condo was just what we needed, and the ocean front view was gorgeous. We had awesome sunrises each morning, and a shaded patio all afternoon.
It had everything we needed in the kitchen, and had boogie boards, beach chairs and a beach umbrella for our use.
We also loved the location as it was close to Safeway, and many good restaurants (try the Macadamia Sea Bass at the Lemongrass Grill).
Huma was always quick to respond to any questions, and the check in/out procedure was easy.
We'll keep this on our list for future visits.
First time staying in Kapa’a as we usually stay in Princeville. Great location for us for a few days, as it was easy access to Lihue & south parts of the island. Beautiful ocean view from the deck/living room. Bright & airy with the windows open. Well equipped & nice amenities.
Pona Kai Resort is a great place to vacation.Beautiful grounds.Close to the beach and all amenities. C204 has a fantastic ocean view with the beach 50 yards away. The condo was nice and comfortable. Could use a little updating. Be nice to have a lounge chair on the lanai and a newer coffee maker. The herd of elephants that was above us tended to be little annoying at times. But that's the risks you take if your not on the top floor. All in all a great stay. Would highly recommend. Thanks Huma.
Enjoyed our stay!! Good communication with owner. Check in was easy. Well stocked kitchen and bathroom. Perfect location. Amazing view from the patio!!
Thank you for having us!!
This a great oceanfront condo and our 2nd time staying here (so that should tell you something!). Breeze through condo generally kept it cool with ceiling fans. Portable fans did the trick when there was no breeze. Kitchen was well supplied and ice maker in fridge was very well used. Some people complain about condos being dated, but unless you're paying a lot more, 90% of these condos will be dated. Large lanai was great as were the binoculars to help see the whales and some spinner dolphins. Only thing I would recommend Huma to buy is a lounger. Beach chairs and cooler in closet were great for us but she also had snorkel gear and some sand toys as well. Absolutely loved this condo. If this condo is in your price range I would grab it.
