This was my family’s second time staying at the Honua Kai. We had a nice stay. The resort is beautiful. Both times we’ve visited here it’s had a very relaxed and friendly vibe. The general store in the next tower over is nice to have nearby - they have great snacks, drinks, smoothies, and gifts. In the room, the bed was comfortable. The pullout bed framing makes the mattress lay at a weird angle so we just took the mattress off the couch and put it directly on the floor and that was very comfortable. The kitchen is nice and well equipped - but there are absolutely no condiments, seasonings, ziploc bags, etc., besides salt/pepper and some oil. The Maui Resort Rentals who manage this unit are super helpful and friendly. You can text them with questions or requests for items and they deliver them right to you really quickly. We would stay here again.
Upon arrival the smoke alarm/carbon monoxide detector was beeping every 30 seconds or so indicating a fault.I called the Maui Resort Rental number 3 time over the next three plus hours trying to get someone from maintenance to come by (before bed time after a long travel day). The admin who answered the phone each time seemed frustrated at the lack of response from a maintenance crew.Finally, after no one came by, I disconnected the smoke alarms(2) and the CO2 detector to determine the problem. I was hesitant to do so at a condo knowing they would probably frown anyone tinkering with those devices.I determined it was the CO2 detector, unplugged it and reconnected the two smoke detectors. Finally no more beeping every 30 seconds!Amazingly enough, about 15 min later the maintenance staff from the condo stopped by because my disconnecting the smoke alarms had tripped a fault in their control center.Although they were nice enough they did not care about the CO2 detector working only that the smoke detectors were back up and running.Hopefully your stay will not require any of the maintenance staff.
Great place to spend 5 days enjoying Maui. The location was super convenient and had a great beach. It is a large property, but never felt crowded. One downside, the municipal sewage treatment facility is across the street and sometimes gives off a nasty odor early in the mornings.
Sometimes you don’t know what you will get based on pictures and words. But this site proved trustworthy because the property surpassed the marketing.

We loved staying in this unit at the Honua Kai resort. It was comfortable and quiet for the most part. We enjoyed getting coffee every morning at the cafe downstairs. The location was perfect with great beaches so close. We look forward to coming back!!
I like how we had portable chairs for the beach.
Great stay. The resort has everything, nice pool (especially for kids) bar service, towels, coffee shop, restaurant and it’s right on the beach. We already plan to return.
This unit is very nice. It was exceptionally clean when we arrived. The only bummer was that the previous guest must have smoked on the unit because we could smell it when we first entered. We bought air freshener and opened all the windows and it improved. There is everything you need here. I would suggest a cutting board however. That would be a great addition. It has a gorgeous view of the mountains, very quiet and comfortable. We highly recommend it!
The Mountain View from the lanai is what we loved the most in this unit and the beach is right behind the tower . Landscaping is well maintained as well and very clean . This unit is very comfortable for 4 adults since there’s a queen size pull out bed in the living room facing the mountain. We always left the sliding door open and enjoyed the fresh air . The king size bed in the bedroom is comfortable as well . There’s washer & dryer inside so it’s so convenient to wash our wet clothes everyday from the beach . The kitchen has everything u need to make a meal so we just went to Safeway to buy groceries especially for breakfast. It saved as a lot of money . I love the location of this unit a few minutes drive to Lahaina gift shops restaurants bars etc . The only thing I would recommend in this unit is updating the carpet & the living room chairs. I highly recommend this place . Me my daughter and friends had a blast 🌱
