Where to start?! The pictures, which are nothing short of amazing, still do not do this home justice. Every nook and cranny has been considered, making every room a place you just want to cozy up in. With 8 adults and 3 children, there was plenty of space to never feel cramped. The host is as amazing as the property itself, prompt to respond and offer tips and recommendations. The pool is solar heated. You must request the hot tub to be heated each day of your stay in advance and that takes a few hours. It also auto shuts off after 4 hours. So, that takes some planning on your end to ensure it is ready when you would like it to be; but, it was doable. The home is stocked with nearly everything you need at the home and for the beach- so no need to overpack! I can't thank the owner enough for contributing to such a memorable family vacation.

A beautiful, well kept home. Our extended family (ages 20 - 82) have stayed together on many vacations. We've never seen a place so well appointed. We cook/eat in some nights on vacations. The kitchen had everything. The host could not have been more accommodating and responsive.

Youngest 12 to oldest 82 family gathering in a home that was more home than a rental. Beautifully appointed but very homey. Plenty of room for group function's and meals but areas to get off to be alone. Beautiful wooded surroundings. All 9 of the group said would love to return. Tips from the host on things to see and do was greatly appreciated.

The hosts were incredibly hospitable and very responsive. The home is beautiful and we especially loved the ease of indoor/outdoor living provided by the large sliding glass doors that open up the back wall of the living room. The temperatures on the mountainside were just a bit cooler in the morning and evening than on the beach, which was absolutely perfect for us. The property is absolutely beautiful with lush greenery everywhere while also offering a gorgeous view of the ocean in the distance. We truly enjoyed our family getaway! Thank you!

Reason for the delayed response is we don’t know where to begin. The whole experience of renting the Lodge at Kaloko was something you do once in a lifetime. Kaili, home owner was great to work with. She was very receptive to our asks, needs or wants. We would highly recommend this location if you are ever trading to Kona, Hawaii.

The lodge is tucked away on the mountain side allowing close access to all activities in Kona. This allows for a cooler and relaxing atmosphere to unwind after soaking up the sun at the beach during the day. Our family of 16 enjoyed a fabulous stay at the lodge. The description and pictures showed the property and furnishings exact. The home was exceptionally clean and well taken care of......felt right at home immediately. The host did a phenomenal job in quickly responding to every question, making suggestions, giving recommendations and ensuring our stay was going well. The house fit our family of 16 perfectly. Each of the 5 families had their own private space with comfortable beds and bedding. The common gathering spaces were large enough to fit us all comfortably. The pool entertained the little ones while the adults enjoyed the fire pit. (pool temp was a bit chilly but kids didn't mind) The nights were cool and quiet, allowing for relaxation and rest. By day, you could see many birds and by night you could hear the coqui frogs and watch the sunset. Beaches, coffee plantations and Costco were close by!

We are a group of adult divers who came to Kona for a dive vacation. This is our third time doing this, and this house was far and away the best. The location is wonderful- <15 minutes to airport, harbor, and town, but in the cool hills. The home is beautiful and well cared for. We loved the hot tub and the extremely well-equipped kitchen; we prepare all of our meals and it was so easy in this amazing kitchen that had everything we wanted in terms of small appliances (rice cooker, instapot, vitamix, kitchenaid mixer, immersion blender, etc), some staple ingredients, and dishes/servingware. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would not hesitate to book this same property again. It was a very easy space to share with good spaces for coming together, and plenty of room to be apart, as well. My only tiny criticism is that, since we were a group of 10 all trying to caffeinate in the mornings, a regular old drip coffee machine would be helpful; there is a chemex, a french press, and a Nespresso, which is great, but they could not produce (and keep warm) coffee at the rate at which we wanted to consume it!

We had an amazing family time, full of great memories. We travel widely and incessantly, and I can't say enough good things!
This is a spectacular property, with ocean views and a beautiful patio, pool, and hot tub. The kids wanted to live in the pool! Cleanliness was impeccable, even for my perfectionistic wife and adult children. Lots of room for people to spread out and have their own introvert space, but places where we all gathered together (lanai patio, living room, fire pit). The young kids had their own movie night upstairs (Moana and Lilo and Stitch) in front of the huge TV.
Sunsets were amazing! Nights give a cool break from the sun of the beach and we had gentle rain a few times. There is real privacy here, with flowers and trees nestling around you. The birds sang each day, the frogs quietly opened the night, the roosters down the hill welcomed us each dawn. Overall, there is a deep sense of peace at this property which was tangible.
Ka'ili, our owner and host, had provided anything we could need in a well-decorated but family friendly decor. The kitchen was modern, stocked, and used a ton! (Costco). She was immediately responsive to any questions which came up and gave us a list of great restaurants and beaches. Our favorite times were teaching the children to snorkel, our manta ray snorkeling cruise (a must!), times at the Lava Lava Beach Club beach (worth the 25-minute drive).
We are already hoping for a repeat next year. Yep. That good.

Excellent property and very accurately described in the pictures and reviews. We had 11 people and needed 8 beds, and there was plenty of space for everyone. Kitchen is well stocked, rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, and outdoor area was superb. You are up the hill, about 10-15 minutes by car from airport, shopping and restaurants. Hosts are very attentive but not intrusive, and it is a perfect setting for a large extended family, or two families traveling together

Our group of seven loved our stay at Kalako! It was the quiet and peaceful retreat we were all wanting. The best thing about the house is that it’s so much cooler than the beach. We loved going from the uncomfortable heat into our leafy and quiet home. We used the beautiful hot tub everyday and night, sat by the fire pit and the glow of the torches, and enjoyed all the different nooks and seating areas. The house is very thoughtfully appointed! There are Bluetooth speakers throughout the house, the kitchen has all the equipment you need (even a pie server for Thanksgiving!) is a dream for hosting. Lots of large spaces to gather and lounge, but also plenty of room for privacy. Bedrooms and bathrooms are exactly as described with comfy beds. And it’s all about 20 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes to town. Hosts are immediately responsive and check in, but we had no problems at all. We would definitely book again!
