Upon entering Honu Ohana’s gates, you're greeted by a lush, tropical courtyard, ideal for outdoor dining, family game nights, or relaxing on the covered lanai, enveloped by the fragrance of the island's flora. The shaded pool offers a refreshing escape after beach days or Big Island exploration, further enhanced by a newly installed private outdoor shower.
Adjacent to the pool and garden is the renovated "Pool House Suite", now a large bedroom with a king bed and garden view, walk-in closet, an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower, and an office/TV anteroom. This unique setting ensures privacy and serenity away from the main home.
The first floor also features a spacious Garden Suite guest bedroom with king bed, offering private access to its ensuite and the rear tropical garden. The living room on this level has ample seating, a large Smart TV, and pool views, making it a perfect indoor retreat. With numerous windows and ceiling fans, Honu Ohana assures a refreshing circulation of tropical trade-winds.
Journey upstairs to find the Primary Suite, which offers an ensuite that opens up to a second lanai with partial ocean views. The suite houses a bonus room with twin beds, perfect for families with small children. The other upstairs bedroom also features an ensuite and lanai access, complementing the Primary Suite. Both upstairs bedrooms have Split ACs.
There is a newly remodeled spacious Ohana suite above the garage. This room offers a private haven with a king bed, Split AC, its own ensuite with a walk-in shower, and a private balcony. We had 7 adults in our group - 3 generations between the ages of 29 and 84. We all found the perfect bedroom for our needs. The bedrooms have A/C splits, and the common areas are cooled with ceiling fans and open windows. There was a quiet place for each and every one of us to relax, read, or work, as well as plenty of space for us to gather for meals, games, and conversation. There are two separate washers and dryers, which made it easy for us to keep up with laundry. The main kitchen has lots of pots, pans, utensils, dishes, and glassware, plus cleaning supplies. There are two smaller kitchens, which are great for refrigerator/freezer storage and for the use of a second oven, which we used for Christmas dinner. We also enjoyed the pool, which is nice and cold - a perfect place to cool down on a hot day. We had a couple of minor issues arise, and Eilis was responsive and took responsibility. We would recommend this property to any family wanting to stay close to resorts and beaches.

What an amazing home. The layout was perfect for multiple family groups to each have privacy and the pool was perfect for cooling off in the Puako heat.
We had a little trouble getting some of the air conditioning units to work - maybe door sensors not lining up properly - but didn't really miss them. The point of being there was being in the hot weather, not in the cold mauka wind of our daily lives.
There is a security camera that watches the common area. We plugged it back in when we left for the security of the property but since we didn't leave the house unattended we didn't think it needed to watch us.

A great place for a big family stay! We would stay again! A few items may need replacing (e.g. tea kettle, soap dispenser in bath by washer and dryer, vaccuum doesn’t work well). There were wasp nests and a banana spider in the outdoor dining area. Wasps constantly visiting pool were friendly! We worried about glass-topped tables with our kids—wood would be better. Stairs to unit above garage have loose posts attached to handrail—could cause a bad fall.

We loved this house! So much space for a big group. Comfortable outside seating options which is where we hung out the most. Very well stocked with kitchen items and beach chairs, etc. The location is great, not too far to get to many spots. The best snorkeling we found during our whole vacation was the access spot across the street from the house. We saw turtles, eels, and manta rays. We would definitely return to this house!

The propery is spacious and clean. Accomodations are basic not luxurious. I received the property access code via text at 4:11 pm from property manager. Code was not available on guest portal. There was plenty of room for 10 people. House was excessively hot on arrival and everyday during the afternoon (daily temp 80-85F) but cools off at night. There is no A/C just ceiling fans. There is a nice pool but requires much daily cleaning due to abundance of leaves. There was no hot tub despite one being advertised. The lanai was a nice place to hangout. As others have commented, there was a fair amount of construction noise Mon-Fri from next door. There is shore access close by but shore is quite rough and rocky in this area. Sunsets are spectacular from shore. Whales could be seen from shore.

The house is large enough for 3 families and allows for privacy. Some parts of house are
getting rundown. During our stay there was construction going on next door creating considerable noise and dust. It comprised our time at the house. Good location.
