After shelling out close to $300 a night at a "just okay" Kailua-Kona hotel, it was sheer joy to open the door at to the spotless, roomy, cozy, amazingly well-appointed Hale Mauka. We loved cooking in the kitchen and appreciated the heads-up from Diana that we needed to get groceries outside of town. We ate breakfasts on the porch, enjoyed the deep soaking tub, had a couple of great walks, and slept very soundly despite HEAVY rain the first night. And of course enjoyed the nearby attractions in the Park tremendously. This place was just terrific and our only sadness was not being able to stay longer.

Me and my husband stayed here for our anniversary and loved it! We live on Kauai and Volcano is our home away from home. The saturday farmers market is a must!

The house was so well furnished that we felt really spoiled. The view from bathroom and the lanai was great. The house is really clean, it has very comfortable beds and a well-equiped kitchen. It provides really everything you need also for a longer stay. The owners are great to deal with, responding fast to emails and answered all our questions. They give you very helpful ideas on what to visit and what to do to make your stay just perfect. We returned in the evening after dinner to the National Park and had a great view. Our son loved the instruments in the house and… the great Wifi after a long day of hiking in the national park. We had a wonderful stay ... and do really hope we can return again. I would most certainly recommend this place to others.

Our family (myself, husband, children ages 14, 11 and 9) had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful cottage last month. We were only in the Volcano area for one night, but we would have loved to stay longer in this charming home. This place really has EVERYTHING you could need--the owners have thought of it all! The location cannot be beat--we loved being in the middle of the rainforest, and just down the road from Volcanoes National Park. Hopefully we will make it back to the Big Island again in the future, and we would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!!

Spotless. Secluded. Top of the line amenities. Plopped in the middle of the rain first and perfectly located next to the volcano. Unbeatable.
