Set in a charming courtyard of heritage plantation homes on Waimea Plantation Cottages resort, this 1-bedroom ocean-view cottage will not disappoint. Cottage 66 was built around 1916. It has been lovingly refreshed, but still retains the vintage cottage style of plantation times. The name on this cottage was "Pulapula" which in Hawaiian means "planting of seed cane" and connects it to the history of the former sugar cane plantation.
The home offers ocean views from the living area and off the small private lanai. The interior features a comfortable sitting area, dining table, fully equipped kitchen, and large bathroom with a separate tub and shower.
Guests of Cottage 66 enjoy all the privileges of the resort including the oceanfront pool, lobby check-in, complimentary Wi-Fi, complimentary guest laundry use, daily newspapers in the lobby and business kiosk for printing boarding passes. In addition, you may request towel and linen refresh, borrow beach chairs and umbrella from the front desk for your favorite beach on Kauai, and recent release movies for your in-cottage DVD player.
You'll love the 2-mile long black-sand, walking beach with spectacular sunsets and amazing stargazing. There is an on-property casual dining restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining.
Note on beaches: the Waimea River enters the ocean about a mile east of the property bringing silt from the canyon into the ocean. The currents pull the silt along the ocean in front of the beach. There are two swimmable beaches with lifeguard stations nearby. Kekaha Beach, is a 5-minute drive to the West. It is the longest white sand beach in Hawaii. It is wide and flat. To the east near Hanapepe Town is Salt Pond Beach. There is a lovely protected swimming area, picinic tables and restrooms....

If you want to get away, relax, and need to escape a busy lifestyle, Waimea Plantation Cottages is the ideal location. Property is quiet and peaceful, staff are friendly, and guests are polite. Onsite and complementary laundry facility is convenient. We appreciated the ease of cooking meals during our stay. The landscape is naturally beautiful. The ocean view from our cottage and listening to the ocean waves, enhanced our adventure.

We enjoyed our 11 night stay in early February of 2024 so thoroughly that we have decided to return next winter. It was our first time experiencing “the cottages” and we were not disappointed. Who needs a high rise, a lavish restaurant, fancy bathrooms or a hot tub on your porch? We liked the rustic furnishings and the comfortable bed in cabin 66. When we were not at the lovely pool or discovering Hanapepe Town we were on the front porch relaxing and eating meals we made in our own kitchen or barbecue take-out from the onsite “In a Barrel” cafe. The 47 acres of palm trees, manicured lawns and shoreline made it a great place to wander. The sunsets by the water (from one of many hammocks) were stunning. Short drives to swimmable beaches and to Waimea Falls only added to the discoveries we made at this one of a kind traditional Hawaiian experience.

The cottages were great. The one bedroom was the perfect size for two of us, with ocean views as promised. The resort was quiet and the other guests were respectful of each other. It’s almost too quiet to even be a “resort” but they had all the amenities to make it one. Some stuff was a little outdated but it’s an easy trade for me to have quiet and hear birds and ocean every morning. It is a bit far from a “big” town so expect to drive a fair bit for meals, since everything in Waimea closes early or isn’t open at all on some days. The free-range hammocks and couples chairs all over the property are a wonderful place to unwind after a busy day of hiking or boating.

We had a lovely vacation in this splendidly positioned cottage. The stylish & comfy furnishings, well-equipped kitchen, and other amenities made it feel like home away from home; the resort grounds are quiet and beautifully maintained and the outside porch made for relaxing mornings and al fresco lunches. The breeze through the main room and the AC in the bedroom made it comfortable even on hot days. A very short walk to the beach, hammocks, and pool area was also a plus, and the location near Waimea Canyon and not far from Polihale Beach were a big score. Staff were happy to offer help but after a speedy check in with the delightful Cherie, we had everything we needed in this well appointed cottage. (Being greeted by Prosecco and macadamia nut chocolates for our honeymoon was an added extra bonus!)
We have already decided that we will return to this wonderful island and look forward to future stays here.

We could not have picked a more appropriate or better site for our Kauai visit. It was so beautiful, quiet (except the last night when there was a raucous wedding) and central to all the island sights. The staff was courteous and helpful and the cottage itself very spacious and comfortable. It contained everything we needed to get along for a few days. Having a free laundry facility there was helpful, as we’d already been in Hawaii a week and needed it. We would definitely recommend the Plantation Cottages to anyone seeking a peaceful island stay.

Absolutely everything I had hoped it would be and more. The feeling of being in old Hawaii but with modern touches like swimming pool and bbq. So nice and quiet. I 100% want to stay here again!

The most beautiful grounds, cottage was very well equipped, very clean and the view was amazing from the living room, bedroom and private lanai. Very quiet and serene. We borrowed beach chairs and umbrella for our stay and took it on lots of excursions. Location is very close to Waimea Canyon State Park, a must see on this side of island. Only a short car ride to Port Allen where you can take a sailing cruise, Captain Andy’s is highly recommended. The on-site restaurant Chicken in a Barrel was delicious. If you are looking for a quiet peaceful vacation this is the place. We’ll be back!
