Overview

Other Things to Note

You will love the salt water pool, it is right on the ocean and the waves splash over the sides! It is our favorite condo hang out, perfect for lap swimming or relaxing float and play. There is a private beach with lounge chairs for tanning, reading and napping by the water. The barbeque pits come equipped with table seating and a covered pavilion that caters Kona coffee in the morning and offers round the clock bathrooms. You can see a clear view of the sunset over the rocky coastline every night. There are lush tropical gardens, streams and fountains on the grounds. A welcome basket awaits you as you enter!

The Neighborhood

Casa is right on the water on Alii Drive located next to an open field of lava rock that serves as a place of refuge. A place of refuge is observed in remembrance of an old Hawaiian tradition where those people who had broken the Kappa (ancient Hawaiian law) could live on this undeveloped land and be absolved of their crimes. Today, you can climb on the rocks and dive into the ocean as you enjoy this tribute to Hawaiian culture.

Along Alii drive there are many public access points among the condos and hotels that are beautiful beach inlets. Kona is home to some of the most beautiful beaches and snorkeling. Some of our favorites include White Sands Beach known for its amazing boogie boarding and snorkeling. King Kamehameha hotel beach popular for its paddle boarding and kayaking. Kahalulu Beach where sea turtles are often seen and you can find excellent swimming, snorkeling, surfing, and paddle boarding. Banyan Beach which is famous for its locale surfing and Alii Cove where you can enjoy surfing and boogie boarding for the whole family. Kona beaches are known for having some of the most diverse and colorful tropical fish and coral in the world so be sure not to miss them!

Our condo is nearby downtown Kona where you can find most of the major stores, small local shops, and oceanside restaurants and bars. Some of our favorites are Hugos on the Rocks, a beach eatery and bar with nightly music. ABC convenience stores that have anything from tooth brushes, swim wear, snacks, to souvenirs. Donkey Balls chocolate, a snack shop that serves chocolate balls with delicious creamy flavors inside. Kava which serves some of the world’s best coffee, Kona Coffee!

The Alii Garden Market Place is a short walk from Casa de Emdeko, where you can find delicious seasonal vegetables and fruits, sample amazing Island cooking, and find gorgeous Hawaiian clothing. The volcano and waterfalls are found along the Hilo coastline, just a couple hours drive from beautiful Kona.

Getting Around

Car Rentals around the island include Kona International Airport which hosts most major car rental dealerships and is the most convenient location for rental. You can also find Dollar Rental Car and Enterprise Rent-A-Car inside the town of Kona. You can find scooter rentals at Aloha Kona Moped.

Bus services include Hele-On Bus which circles the city traveling between Honauna and the airport. The Kona Trolley, also known as the Keauhou Honu Express Shuttle, runs daily from 9am to 9pm and goes round-trip between the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Kailua-Kona, making numerous stops along Ali'i Drive. Fare for both services is $2.00/person per transfer.

We highly suggest renting a car, moped, or scooter as the Big Island of Hawaii is big!
