Great location, excellent communication, lots of extras to make for a perfect stay!
This rental was perfection. Wonderful condo. Perfectly outfitted. Due to a food allergy, I cooked most meals at the condo…so having a well stocked kitchen is key. There were also beach towels, a cooler, and other beach and snorkeling gear. Directly across from one of the best snorkeling spots on the Big Island. Our hosts were phenomenal communicators. We will absolutely return to this magical place.
Rachel and Jason have created a spectacular space with an exception view of one of the best snorkeling areas on the big island. The condo is in a quiet neighborhood, convenient distance to Kona or to 2 Step and easy to get the highway to KÄ«lauea. The condo is well equipped in the kitchen and also with things you might want for the beach. The bed was extremely comfortable. 5 Stars! Will be my choice of where to stay for my next trip to Kona.
Excellent condo on the top floor overlooking Kahalu'u beach. Condo has all the beach and snorkeling gear you need. Kitchen is well stocked with cooking essentials. Lanai is great for meals, sunsets, and relaxation. Wonderful pool and hot tub to enjoy after a long day exploring this amazing island. Hosts Rachel and Jason were very responsive to any questions or needs we had. A heads up for older folks like us, no elevator, just three flights of stairs. Stayed two weeks, very much enjoyed our stay here and would return.
This unit was well thought out, well equipped and the hosts were very easy to work with. We appreciated its proximity to Kahalu'u Bay and South Kona. The unit was nicely decorated and has a fantastic view to the bay. Our kids enjoyed the pool and the geckos that frequent the grounds. Many thanks to the hosts for sharing a dream spot with us!

Second time we’ve stayed at this property. We love the quieter end of Ali’i Drive. Located right across the street from excellent snorkeling at Kahalu’u Beach. Just a short drive up to Kailua-Kona shopping/restaurants, or south for shopping, dining, golf in Keauhou. And no review would be complete without mentioning the fact that Jason & Rachel are the best hosts ever!

This unit is a slice of paradise on a slice of paradise. :) It was our first Vrbo experience, and it was one for the books! The property is sparkling clean, has ALL the amenities, is spacious, and is truly special. Staying at Rachel and Jason’s place was an asset to our trip. We appreciate the generosity.
100% as advertised. Clean, well maintained unit right across the street from terrific snorkling beach. Traffic is loud on Friday and Saturday nights and beach gardner starts the leaf blower at 7am every day however worth the tradeoff for location and quality of condo.
This place is perfect if you want to snorkel. The closest place to the best snorkel spot on the island. The condo was super comfortable and clean, great for two people. Hosts super responsive, even purchased a yoga mat for me when I asked if the unit had one. Mattress is quite hard, lots of steps (no elevator) and, as others have mentioned, a lot of road noise and leaf blowers every morning. Overall, wonderful stay.

This unit is everything that was promised and more! Extremely well decorated and maintained and it is obvious that the owners stay here as well. Very well stocked kitchen and we cooked in every night and had dinner on the beautiful lanai as we watched the sun set in the beach across from us.
There is a busy and noisy road between the unit and the beach and it is very active around 7:00am, as other renters have mentioned, but we thought it was a small price to pay for such a great location. We traveled all over the island during our stay and this condo was very convenient. The second bathroom is a tremendous plus!
We did have an issue with the A/C unit when we checked in. Contacted the owners and they were all over the issue and got it fixed promptly. This is truly an owner managed property, like the original VRBO, and you can tell the difference!
Great snorkel spot right across the street that you can walk to and the owners have provided you with snorkel equipment, boogie boards, rash guards and a cooler. Just bring yourself! Loved every minute of our stay and would love to stay here again on our next visit😊

If I were more selfish, I'd hesitate to say how lovely this home is because I wouldn't want it to be booked when we're ready for our next visit! But I can't say enough good things about this property and the wonderful hosts.
Everything was clean and comfortable, & the unit was well-stocked with beach supplies (chairs & towels) and kitchen equipment. The location is also great with an easy walk to the beach with nice snorkeling and nearby dining options.
The only thing negative I can think to say also a positive thing - a crew makes some noise with blowers around 7 am every day cleaning up the beach area across the street for a short time, so bring some earplugs if you're a light sleeper like I am. But that's a very small price to pay for a well-kept beach.
It was easy to reach the hosts when we had an issue resulting from some scheduled internet maintenance, and the problem was quickly resolved.
We very much enjoyed our visit and look forward to staying there in the future!

Loved this place! The view of the beach and sunset from the living room, bedroom, and lanai were perfect. The unit was very clean and nicely decorated with quality linens. The king bed was also comfortable. The A/C worked very well. The building is in a great location just across the street from a beach with excellent snorkeling and a lifeguard. The pool was warm and well maintained with a view of the beach. The owners were very welcoming and communicated timely. With that said, we had no issues that needed to be addressed. As advertised, there is no elevator, but we got used to the stairs to the 3rd story. We definitely recommend staying here!

Honestly probably one of the best rentals and I’ve rented lots. They provide the extra amenities that I usually have to get to start a nice vacation. All the gear you need for beach and snorkel. Don’t need to worry about that. Quiet, clean and perfect location right across from Kahuluu Bay for great snorkeling. The 2 baths was just wonderful and we even received very nice welcoming gifts. Easy communication as well . We really enjoyed our stay. Mahalo !!

Surfing Turtle was a great property for our Kona vacation. Communication with the owners was prompt, condo was clean, had great beach gear and the home was stocked with everything you’d need in a rental. The welcome gift was great and snorkeling across the street was some of the best variety of fish we saw all week. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Love to snorkel - than this is the place for you. Right across the street form the best place to snorkel on the Big Island. Condo is very clean and very nicely decorated. The lanai is wonderful - with a great view of the water and the sounds of birds. Grocery store is minutes away and the barbecue is great if you like to cook. (I am so forunate my husband is a great cook!)

Kahalu’u Beach Park is one of the best places to snorkel on the Big Island and this wonderful condo is right across the street from the beach. The snorkeling is amazing! The ocean views from the lanai are beautiful. It is a bonus to be able to see the beach activity from the lanai to determine how busy the beach is.
Owners, Rachal and Jason, take great pride in their condo. It is lovely inside, beautifully updated, and full of amenities. With all the snorkeling we did, it was great to have two full bathrooms. The condo felt like home. I certainly didn’t want to leave.
Rachel and Jason are attentive owners and good communicators. They gave us some great suggestions for the activities that we were most interested in, nearby snorkeling and hiking.
It should be noted that there are two minor items to consider, stairs to the condo and street noise. The stairs were a plus for us, more exercise, but for some people the stairs may be a strain. Also, the condo is located on a fairly busy street that can be noisy. On the positive side, the street offers easy access to drive north or south without winding through a neighborhood or large resort.
Planning to rent this condo again next year!
