Our unit is a spacious 2-bedroom, 2.5 bath with over 1100 sq. ft. of living space. Master bedroom has king size bed, fully private en suite bathroom, and Air Conditioning. The guest bedroom has 2 twin beds, and it can be converted to a king size upon request, and Air Conditioning. The unit is designed to maximize privacy with the living and dining space on the first level and bedrooms on the second level. For your comfort, beach chairs, soft beach towels, and more are included for your days at the beach. This designer’s living room furniture is very comfortable perfect for laying back to watch the waves, listen to CDs, or watch cable TV. This brand-new Hawaiian dining room table with comfy chairs is your exclusive seat to spot playful spinner dolphins. On our large lanai are four chairs and 2 tables; you will be so comfortable; you may not want to leave. Seeing a rainbow, or the moon shimmering over the water will create lifetime memories. Recently upgraded well-equipped gourmet kitchen includes high quality new appliances, dishwasher, microwave, oven and refrigerator with filtered water and ice dispenser. There is high speed wireless internet to keep you connected, master bedroom and the living room has its own TV with cable service. Beach chairs, soft beach towels, umbrellas, cooler, aqua shoes, snorkeling sets, and more are included for your days at the beach. Be sure to ask about all the beach amenities we provide. A full-size washer and dryer are also in the unit. Because we know you are probably tired and hungry after your long journey, we give you an 'Aloha Basket' with snacks and coffee, so that you can immediately begin to relax. The condo complex itself offers several amenities. There is a private swimming saltwater pool and heated spa central to your building. A lighted tennis court and a protected lava rock barbecue grill pavilion are also onsite. Poipu is on the Southern and sunniest point of Kauai. Poipu Beach Park is a short 6 block walk away. The surrounding lava rocks at that beach create a protected swimming area perfect for children. At the adjacent beach you can swim with sea turtles and boogie board. Surfing is also close by at the Hyatt and Marriott Resorts' public beaches and Shipwrecks Beach. A short ride or doable walk from the condo provides more surfing, snorkeling and wave boarding opportunities. Poipu also hosts an array of restaurants, shopping experiences and farmers markets. Our family of four enjoyed our stay in this spacious, clean, updated townhouse style condo with an ocean view. It is a 15 minute walk to Poipu beach and short drive to restaurants and grocery stores. The unit is well-stocked with beach equipment and kitchen essentials for cooking meals. My one criticism is that the portable A/C units in the bedrooms are extremely loud and kept waking me up in the middle of the night. It was a tradeoff for the relief from the heat.

We enjoyed our stay at this condo. It was a perfect south side location, close to beaches and shopping and easy access to the main road around the island. The property manager was responsive and allowed us extend our stay on the last day to accommodate a change in our boat tour. Overall the property was clean and comfortable but could use a bit of updating, especially the upstairs bedrooms/bathrooms. I would recommend this property.

Our family of four stayed here for our first four nights in Kauai and we were not disappointed. The location is perfect- waking up to those views did not get old! The condo is just as described. The ACs worked great in the bedrooms to cool off at night, and the tradewind kept the first floor nice and cool (utilize the front screen door and the slider screens for airflow). It was a quick walk or drive to Poipu beach (plenty of parking there). There is also a great walk along the ocean that brings you to Shipwreck beach. I ran from the condo to Poipu then back to the path to shipwreck and back to the condo. It was just over 3 miles total and a great way to say goodbye to such a lovely area. Mahalo!

We were in Kauai celebrating our 45th anniversary and had our two oldest grandchildren with us for their high school graduation trip. We fell in love with the place as soon as we opened the front door and saw the view through the back patio doors. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained around the pool area and along the coast. We appreciated having a kitchen area that was well stocked with good quality cookware, spices and accessories. Thank you for providing beach chairs, boogie boards, etc. It made the trip that much more enjoyable. The peacefulness of the area as well as the condo being conveniently located within minutes of 2 of the nicest beaches on the island was a plus. We were grateful to have the option of being able to use the A/C in the bedrooms but we loved hearing the waves and having the ocean breeze through the open windows. We are so happy that we chose this unit to spend our 9 nights in Kauai.

Overall it was a great place to stay. A little dusty. Location was good. Not a lot of steps in the stairs but tricky spiral steps to go up to the second room. The kitchen drawers should be dusted or organized. They should buy more of the suitcase stands, really helps.
The place has an air conditioner but with so many remotes that we couldn’t figure it out how to turn it on. Anyway, you can leave the windows open and you don’t really need it.
A great stay. . Like I said great location , beds are comfortable and clean.

Entire property complex is dated and needs some updates, however it is kept clean.
The unit itself has had some nice updates. The pictures of the unit on the listing show the unit in its best light, but in person the flaws are very apparent. Carpeting and doors seem to be original and while still functional, are not on the same level as the rest of the unit.
While the unit does have air conditioning in the two bedrooms, what is not explained is that the air conditioner is a large unit inside of the rooms. It is about the size of a small refrigerator. And it is very loud. It was too warm to sleep with just the windows open, but that meant trying to sleep with the loud air conditioner running.
What is not disclosed in the property description is that there are three flights of stairs to get to the unit. This was not a huge deal for us personally, but my wife doesn't pack light. Had this been my parents renting this unit, there would've been no way for them to handle all the stairs.
Specific to our trip, the main bathroom shower was non-functional for 3 out of the 4 nights. Though we asked about canceling our reservation after the first night so that we could find other accommodations with a working shower, property manager did not offer this, and a very minimal amount was returned for the deficiencies of the property.

Makahuena was excellent. Everything from location to weather to wonderful sunrises and walks along the coast allowed for a perfect welcome and first experience on Kaua’i. This condo did not disappoint and the property manager was very attentive and patiently answered all my questions. I highly recommend Po’ipu beach for the sea turtles and Monk seals and Puka Dog for lunch and Brennecke’s for dinner. They are literally just down the way and walking distance. We will definitely be back!

Property was very clean, spacious, and has a great layout. The remodeled bathrooms and kitchen were very nice - sometimes a rental sometimes feels “cheap”, this was very much the opposite. My family loved using the amenities such as boogie boards, snorkeling gear and beach chairs. Great views, my wife and I loved just staring at the ocean from the balcony. Would absolutely go back to this property if we revisited Kauai! Cheers!

Our family had a wonderful stay at this place! Check-in and check-out was very straightforward and the property management team were quick to respond to our queries.
The view from the balcony was beautiful (just as you see in the pictures) and it was the perfect location/accommodation for our family of four. Our kids appreciated all the beach amenities they provided. The weather was cool enough that we didn't need the AC in either of the rooms, and this place only added to the overall fantastic time we had in Kauai. If we ever come back, we'll likely look to stay here again!

The view of the ocean, the pool and property from the lanai are absolutely gorgeous. Property is fully stocked with soaps, detergents, paper goods, beach supplies, utensils, dishes, cookware, coffee, filters, spices, etc... Note that from the parking lot, to get into the condo, there are two sets of stairs (one down and then a second up - in case you have mobility issues). Close parking was always easy to find. Centrally located to restaurants and beaches. The complex was relatively quiet during our stay. Pool and hot tub were a nice size and never very busy. Grounds are very well kept. We appreciated the unit being located at the end of the building, so nobody ever walked by the screened door that we kept open for airflow on the main level. Air conditioning units in the upstairs bedrooms were greatly appreciated. Without them, it would have been pretty warm upstairs. Communications from the owner were timely and informative. We did not have any problems or need to contact anyone during our visit. Our family of four was greeted with a very nice welcome basket of items and note upon arrival.
