Orchid Isle Manor is a 5 acre private estate tucked away in the Kona Coffee country on the slopes of Hualalai volcano, overlooking the small coastal town of Kailua-Kona. On this property there are 4 cottages available for rent +a 4 bedroom Manorhouse. Each cottage is a one bedroom studio with a sleeping loft, bathroom, kitchenette, & covered outdoor dining lanai (patio). There is queen bed in the main room. There is a king bed and a twin bed in the sleeping loft. The loft is only accessible by vertical ladder for our guests over 10 years old. There is also twin trundle bed that can be added to the main room for a total of 4 beds (cottage can sleep a maximum of 6 people).

Our family lives on the property above the on site movement studio. My husband is a fisherman/cement mason and I am a local artist and I also teach art & dance. If you enjoy dancing, I am happy to connect you with the fun places to go and the interesting people to meet in our local dance community (tango, zouk, salsa, bachata, bellydance, etc.).

Great place that is exactly as advertised. Peaceful. Restorative. Relaxing.

Charming, close to nature cottage, complete with indoor geckos and serenading frogs. We enjoyed being literally "above the fray" in the cool elevation a short drive from Kailua. Simple but comfortable, the kitchen was small for a family of four, but was very manageable with a small fridge and hot plate. A lovely treat!

Located in the heart of the Kona Coffee Belt, this is a very beautiful property. Nestled on 5 acres there is plenty of room to walk around and enjoy the lush green scenery, enjoy a banana from one of the trees, watch the Turkeys and Chickens. We even had the company of the resident cat, Raja. The temperatures were perfect for having the windows open and sitting on the porch listening to the sounds of living in the country.

This is an amazing and unique property situated in Holualoa over looking Kona and the beautiful pacific ocean. The property is surrounded by lush vegetation, cows, chickens and wild turkeys. If you want a getaway from the resorts this is it! If you want a quiet bungalow with the ability to drive down the hill to the tourist areas, you need to stay here. We were also traveling with our little fur baby...toy poodle...and she love it as well.

It was a special experience to stay in the Holualoa area of the Big Island. The cottages are set amidst some beautiful scenery of huge trees, flowering plants, colorful birds, and even one of the famous Kona coffee plantations. The owners have put in quite a lot of thought to allow you to get a feel of the Island of Hawaii, and helped us with tips on finding our way around the Island for our sightseeing. The airport, town center and beach are just a short drive away from this residential area, for you to go out for the activities offered in the area, or bring in supplies to enjoy in this homelike setting. It does not feel cramped like a hotel room with a ton of other people in close vicinity. The decor in this cottage showed the artistic creativity of some person or people but all done with thought given to safety and convenience as well. For being in a small footprint the cottage included quite a lot in the kitchen, with a grill and picnic table just outside the door. It does not have air conditioning but the windows and screened sliding door let in outside air and there are fans to circulate air, and also an electric fireplace for the times when it is cold. Be prepared to hear roosters crowing around you at any time of the day and night-quite attractive critters though.

We totally enjoyed our time at Mauna Lea Manor. The location is great. You feel like you are in a secluded tropical paradise, yet you are just 10 minutes away from downtown Kona with plenty of restaurants and activities. Stephanie and Matt are great hosts. Matt took us out snorkeling on his boat to Kalakekua Bay . The water was perfect and we saw lots of tropical fish. We were even escorted to the bay by a school of dolphins that swam next to our boat. Many nice beaches are within a 15 minute drive. You will need a car to drive up the hill but the nice cool nights are worth it. We stayed in one of the rooms of the main house but the cottages are charming with kitchenettes and private patios. It is a perfect place for a family reunion or any kind of retreat or getaway.
