My husband and I stayed here for the last two nights of our trip. The house is beautiful and well stocked with everything you need. The views from the lanai are amazing. Wish we had stayed longer! Hope to be back again soon.

It’s all been said in previous reviews, but very happy with location and accommodations. If there is anything you need, John is more than willing to make ut happen. He also has lots of interesting stories and showed my son how to cut open a coconut along with sharing many other talents and experiences about his life!

We chose this place for the second half of our anniversary trip. In our travel experience, it is completely unique and absolutely worth it! Since we’re both hot sleepers, my husband and I were concerned at first that we would be too warm at night without any air-conditioning; but you open up the walls to catch the breezes, and they have fans on site, and we both slept wonderfully well.
It’s an amazing place to get into the rhythm of nature: we went to sleep shortly after dark, we got up at dawn, we enjoyed the view from each one of the decks, drank our coffee and ate our meals and were just incredibly at peace. The caretaker was also so kind and helpful!

This is the kind of place I wish no one knew about. My perfect paradise! But then, if no one knew about it, John would be out of business and I wouldn't be able to go back there. So here you go:
When you sit on the patio of the Pole House you overlook the forest towards the ocean. That is pure relaxation! The house is beautifully decorated, I am sure it has been featured in one of the famous magazines. The pictures don't do it justice.
There is a full kitchen with pots and pans, knives, cutting boards, and anything you need. The king bed is comfortable with a high-quality, thick memory foam mattress. The house was very clean upon our arrival. John is a wonderful host and quick to answer any questions. He even made us delicious pancakes one morning. There is beach furniture, bodyboards, and beach towels, and I am sure that if you need anything, John will have it.
The windows open up completely, you get the feeling of being outside even when you are inside. There is a wonderful breeze that goes through the house all day. Before you book, make sure this is the right place for you: because you feel outside when you are inside, the outside will also come inside. There will be geckos and bugs inside. Nothing major (cockroaches or anything gross) but you'll have to clean up your crumbs before the ants find them. There is also almost no way of keeping the mosquitos out. But the mosquito net around the bed keeps you safe at night.
For my husband and me this is a 15 out of 10!

John is an amazing host and really made us feel welcome and at home. The Pole house was incredible with fantastic views and a tranquil setting. Great location to visit Haiku town, Ho'Okipa, Road to Hana, Paia, and Kula. Probably our best trip ever, thank you John!

This is a lovely property with a fantastic view. It was spotless when we arrived. The kitchen included just about everything we needed. When we wanted a couple of additional items (a measuring cup and spoons), the responsive and amicable owner brought them right away. He also lent us an object our friends needed for their wedding a few blocks away. A great stay!

This was our FAVORITE place to stay during our 4 island - 4 week trip. This home is beautifully designed decorated and constructed. There is beauty in its simplicity but you will have everything you need. The views are spectacular and we loved the location near Pa’ia, the Road to Hana, and Haleakala. My only regret is we couldn’t stay longer.

My wife and I traveled to Hawaii for our first time and choose to stay here. It was a fantastic experience. Being able to see the ocean from our deck was awesome. John was a great host and offered great restaurant recommendations and made sure we had everything we needed for our excursions. The location felt secluded and away from major tourist areas which is what we wanted. Very peaceful. Would highly recommend!

The place was exactly what we were looking for - beautiful, open to nature, care in every detail and away from the touristy parts of the island. Reading in the hammock swing for hours looking out over the treetops to the ocean was an absolute dream, and John was incredibly gracious, communicative and helpful. We would love to come back!

The construction of the house reveals itself to be pure island perfection. Location is close to Paia, the jungle view to the edge of the sea from wraparound porch is perfect. The sunrise and the birds are joyous. The peacefulness and beauty of this property are beyond compare

We had a wonderful 2 week stay at the Pole House. The beautiful house with cathedral ceilings opened completely to the outside and you really enjoyed the feeling of being in the rainforest. The house is a little rustic but that just added to the charm. Though in a neighborhood with houses around, the view was nothing but rainforest and the ocean in the distance. Rainbows over the forest were spectacular. The host was always available and was very helpful and informative. The location was very convenient to the road to Hana, and the beach at Hookipa.
