Welcome to Hui o Kulia, where the view from A-15 at the Kona Reef will take your breath away. Beautiful Oceanfront condo at one of Kailua Kona's most popular complexes, the Kona Reef. Watch the locals surf from your lanai which is directly within 30 feet from the oceans edge. Exceptional unit for two guests with tropical decor. Kona Reef A15. Relax and watch the whales (seasonally) and dolphins swim by, cruise ships pass, or the surfing which takes place right before your eyes.

We've stayed at the Kona Reef several times. The property is perfect for a quick swim and lounge by the pool. The BBQ area is comfortable and inviting. The evening sunset vigil by the residents is a lovely experience. The one bedroom units are cozy for two. We appreciated having some spices, oils and coffee filters from other visitors stays. In January humpbacks cruised on by. The dolphins were a little more shy and or the high surf hid their daily swim by the complex.

We love the Kona Reef. We’ve been coming for many years and find that the complex is perfect for our needs. The views are fantastic, the sound of the surf is divine and we love that the walk into town is so quick and easy. The part of the complex the unit is in is great. The direct ocean front is of course fantastic. We also like the atrium area that’s between the buildings on this side of the complex. The trees help to keep the bedrooms cooler and it’s wonderful to wake up to birds singing. We were impressed with our dealings with Kona Coast. I reported some maintenance issues and they had them addressed incredibly quickly. The bed was comfortable and it was clean which is always important. This was the 7th Kona Reef unit we’ve stayed in. We very much liked that there wasn’t nearly the decorative clutter we’ve encountered in some of the units. However, it is lacking in some of the touches you tend to find in units where the owners stay in there on a regular basis. It meant that the kitchen wasn’t as well stocked as some. Hooks for things like towels & keys at the entrance would have been nice. I’m of average height and had challenges reaching some things and there’s no step ladder. These are pretty minor issues though. I think that the only thing I didn’t like about the unit was the couch. I really didn’t like it at all. However, we spent most of our time on the lanai so it really wasn’t a problem.

If you’re looking for an amazing view. If you want to be close to the water. If you want to see and hear waves crashing onto the beach. If you want to see beautiful sunsets. This condo is for you!!!!!! We spent every morning and night setting on the lanai watching and listening to the waves. It was everything we had hoped for. The condo was clean and nicely decorated and in good condition. It was well stocked with towels and washcloths and any kitchen supplies we needed. I’ll admit we didn’t need much kitchen supplies since we were on the go most of the time checking out the island so we mainly showered and slept there. It is equipped with a window unit AC in the living room that keeps the area cool. They have some items in the closet like snorkeling gear, beach chairs, pool noodle and body boards for you to use. There’s a nice little beach next door. There is covered parking garage for your car. The condo is within walking distance to several restaurants. The only improvement I can think of is if it also had AC in the bedroom. We noticed the first few nights the bedroom would be a little warm when we first went to bed so we just started turning the AC down a couple hours before bedtime. There is a ceiling fan and a small table fan in the bedroom to help. I read some reviews complaining about the birds making too much noise in the garden outside the bedroom but we never noticed it. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner by chance. She is the sweetest and nice lady.

We were thoroughly impressed by how well stocked the condo was in the kitchen, bathroom, and beach supplies like boogie boards folding chairs, and a cooler. The view was absolutely gorgeous, peaceful, and quiet. The pool area had lounge chairs on the grass facing the ocean which made a perfect spot to watch the sunset. The A/C cooled down the entire condo even though it was located in the living room only. The wifi was a little slow and I didn't have great cell connection, but overall that didn't disrupt our stay at all. We would absolutely stay here again and plan to in the future!

The condo is amazing! The location is perfect… Just a few minutes walk from town. The view from the balcony is absolutely beautiful! The only negative I saw, the place could use a new air conditioning unit. The radiator on the current unit is rusting onto the balcony and leaves quite a mess.

Great location and even better view! The only complaint is that there is an atrium right outside the window at about 4-430 every morning the birds are chirping for about an hour and sounded like they were in my room! Other than that it was perfect!

This was our 8th stay at the Kona Reef Resort. The unit is a basic one bedroom apartment with kitchenette, living room, and lanai, in addition to the bedroom,. There are great views especially of sunsets from this oceanfront condo. This unit has had recent new flooring, but is showing the wear of years, especially the bathroom which had rusty fixtures, a sloppy paint job, and is desperately in need of a refresh. The lanai floor had several sunken areas from decay, which were attempted to be concealed with a cheap sheet floor covering. The unit was equipped with adequate furnishings and kitchenwares, but the refrigerator was a bit small. The wifi signal wasn't strong enough to cover the full length of the condo, and download speeds were slow. For the first time ever, we saw a cockroach inside a unit at the Kona Reef. The resort facility is showing signs of needed maintenance. The hot tub and grills were great, but the pool water was often cloudy. There were cracked tiles, oxidized gates, and parking spaces roped off becuase of some safety issue in the parking garage. Our biggest issue was that the residents in the unit directly below ours were pot smokers and lit up at least four times (most likely in their bathroom), which filtered into our bathroom ventilation and dissipated into our bedroom and the rest of our condo. Since smoking of any kind is prohibited on the property, we attemped to call the property manager. All the telephone numbers for a night manager listed in the materials in our unit and in our rental agreement were either out of service or for a security company that did not serve the property. So we had no recourse for prohibited activity taking place and the noxious air invading through the HVAC system. This also raised the larger question of why was another unit's exhaust filtering into our bathroom vent, rather than to outside the building? The following day the onsite manager's office had an "out to a meeting" sign on the door, so it was difficult to reach a property manager to finally register a complaint. Beware if you are sensitive to any kind of smoking in this supposed non-smoking property!
