This is our third stay in the Kona Reef complex. We love the A and D buildings because they are as oceanfront as you can get. The location is also the best for being able to walk into town. The unit is slightly outdated but had a good bed, nice lanai furniture and a nice desk if you need to work some. Most important, it was clean!The one item that could be better is storage. We like to unpack because we stay more than a week. It would have been nice to have a dresser for our stuff and a place for food. The small dresser in the closet was filled with extra linens. It was another great stay. Mahalo!

We absolutely loved it because of the lanai overlooking an excellent surf spot. surfers and boogie boarders every morning and night with big waves. The interior decorating was unusual to say the least but we found it interesting and enjoyed ourselves very much. We had a little trouble with the tv but that is because we are somewhat clueless about controls, streaming etc.
The view from the lanai is amazing and what drew us to this rental.However, the building is 40 years old and unlike this one, most other units have been remodelled (we've stayed in others that were fine). We had booked 6 nights, but stayed only one and were refunded the remainder.The smell of cleaning agent and deodorizer is overpowering upon entering. The air conditioner has to run constantly to keep the main living area comfortable and the bedroom in back has no airflow whatsoever. It needs a separate AC unit. The pillows and cases provided for the sofabed were badly stained.The bathroom is original, like something out of a 1970's era motel. The unit needs a complete remodel in order to justify the price.

We’ve been to this property several times over the years, as well as several others. Kona Reef stands out to me. Central location, close to pretty much anything you might want. I highly recommend it.
Cute little condo with private lanai. Loved the third floor view, easily accessible ride pools and small beach right next door. Would stay again. Owner/management company were very attentive!
This was the nicest VRBO I’ve stayed at through many visits to the Big Island! It was very clean, nicely decorated, clear and concise directions about everything having to do with the place, the lanai set-up was perfect, and communication with the property manager was excellent! We so very much enjoyed drinking coffee on the lanai every morning, watching the surfers and the occasional whale. We loved our time at Kona Reef!

This was our first trip to Hawaii and we fell in love. The condo was excellent in terms of location and setup. The bed sucks but we were in Hawaii so I would have slept on the floor. My husband is an electrician by trade and is already looking to the future and wanting to contribute to Hawaii and ask permission to come aboard. Thank you so much for allowing us to experience the island, we will never forget it and we hold so much respect in our heart to the Hawaiian people who call such a paradise home. The property was just as described. Wonderful Private oceanfront Lanai with an incredible view. The condo was clean and well maintained and beautifully decorated. We were generally comfortable. The Kona Reef location is convenient and the ocean front units have excellent views. Unit D32 was not as nice or as clean feeling as other units we have rented at Kona Reef.
The apartment was very clean and clearly had many updates. It was nice to have cupboards fully equipped. The lanai was a great spot to relax and watch the sunset.

Perfect top floor on ocean view! Watched the body boarders, birds and beautiful waves rolling in from the lanai. Condo was comfortable with everything we needed. This was our third time staying in Annie’s condo and we have already booked it for 2025. Our favorite time in the condo is sitting on the lanai drinking coffee in the morning. Being on the third floor it is very private and peaceful. The only people who can see you on the lanai or inside the condo would have to be in the water pretty far out. The location is also stellar. No walking down dangerous Alii. The road to the village is a side street with little traffic. We have gotten a little lazy and now just walk over to the beach next door. It is so easy to keep the beach gear in the car, grab the chairs and umbrella and walk next door. We used to drive to the beaches fighting traffic, parking and usually a long walk to the beach. When we got home we were pooped. Now we just go next door and are ready for happy hour at On The Rocks. We cannot wait for next year.
