The outdoor garden is spotted with new, young plants but still evokes a feeling of privacy, peace, tranquility, and a change of pace from everyday life.
House water is potable and chemical-free. Piped in from the outdoor rain catchment system, the water is purified with a UV system and filtered.
The tree cottage was built by a local contractor, engaging local businesses for the materials. Shannon's hands-on management (even cleaning between guests!) and pride in ownership for the property results in a tree cottage guests can feel comfortable staying in.

Very nice property close to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. We hiked for several days within the park and this was a great place to rest up afterwards. Make sure you do ALL grocery shopping elsewhere though, a loaf of bread, package of sliced deli meat and a bag of chips came to over $35 at the small market in town.

All you need for a visit to the NP! Clean, comfortable, close by. Wish we could have sat is the lower level area but time didn't allow. Highly recommend!

Quiet and secluded, we had a great experience staying in this rain forest setting in Volcano. If you are wanting to stay away from large crowds and just enjoy the beauty of the island this is the perfect spot. Not a lot of frills, but the bed is incredibly comfortable with loads of pillows. We stayed in October and it did get pretty cold, but the host did have extra blankets and a space heater available. Also had a drying mat for water shoes and a dehumidifier, which made a big difference in the air quality in the space (as someone with asthma, I appreciate it!!)
Only things I wish we had: a luggage stand, and some more hooks in the bathroom.
Not a lot of food around, and be mindful that the few that are around may be closed on sun/mon. So be prepared to bring some food with you to fill in those gaps in food availability. Highly recommend having a drive around the area and checking out the food trucks on the side of the road, had some good coffee and Thai food.

The treehouse was amazing. Minutes from the Volcanos Park entrance was great for us. We would enter the park before 8am and almost no one else was there. The cool temperature (60°F) around the treehouse was great for sleeping.

We were there in February and it was rainy and quite cold. The room although very nicely decorated was cold and the small heater was barely helpful even though the room is small It was damp and the small dehumidifier really didn’t help. Every day there was moisture dripping down inside the entrance sliding glass door and it smelled musty. We actually didn’t want to stay there and cook because it was not comfortable to be there. We were there for 5 nights and although we asked for and got extra bath towels, they didn’t dry because of the temperature and dampness. There were several lights out on the outside steps up to the room making it difficult to see. That said , the decor is nice and new items in the kitchen. The surroundings are beautiful like rain forest . Don’t go in the cold wet weather, summer might be good. It’s very close to Volcanoes National Park

This property is very cute and in a convenient location if you’re visiting the national park. The host has thought of all the details you need. Didn’t need air conditioning we actually used the heater a little during our stay. If you enjoy birdwatching you can enjoy honeycreepers and other birds outside your windows! We would definitely stay here again!
